The ridiculously stylish and fun movie Appleseed has been subtitled and can be obtained at everyone's favorite evil Bit Torrent sites. Run and get this film now - I'll spare you a drawn out review and skip straight to the summary.

While the movie falls prey to more than a few bad Japanese film cliches, it is both a generally entertaining film and a superb technological achievement. It's (as far as I know) the first time 3D models cel-shaded to resemble 2D animation have been used exclusively in a movie. It's amazing, it's brilliant for a first-time effort, and it's what every studio and their brother is going to be scrambling to imitate.

Sexy screencaps follow:

Aeon - the 0.3mb thing you mean is the zip of the subtitle files to add to it. So anyone who downloaded the raw can add the subs. The 1.4gb DVD rip is a raw as far as I know. Whenever I d/l the srt files they never worked when I tried to convert them to ssa but I just found out how to do it - so once I've downloaded this I can add the subs myself for once i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif

This film looks amazing from what I've seen, can't wait...

can someone provide a link for this, i would love to watch this

edit: so its not in avi format and doesnt have subs?

Appleseed DVD Rip Raw (http://66.90.75.92/suprnova//torrents/3105/Appleseed.2004.DVDRip.XviD.AC3-NDRT.torrent)
Sub Files (http://www.doughardy.com/Appleseed/) (in .srt format, get vobsub or use VLC player)

It IS in .avi and there ARE English subs, where the hell you got the impression that they weren't is beyond me.

it was a question, i was guessing - it wasnt a fact that i was stating

anyways, i cant install stuff, so i cant install those players/programs
ill just wait for a subbed version, instead of adding on subs to the raw

edit in reply to below:
alright, ill give it a try
if there arent any subs, ill just delete and wait patiently (but im gonna get my own comp soon so i could just load it into that

thanks for providing the links anyway

This *is* the subbed version, chief. At least, the only one you can get. Also, you can probably run this out of the box, just try it.

I had a pretty descent download speed (~100 kb/s), but a firewall can slow bittorent to a crawl. Or maybe it's just not well seeded...

So...you can't ever post twice w/o someone posting in between? Even if they're like 3 hours apart? Just to clarify.

Can people please seed the 1.4gb file? It's going so slooooow, slower than dialup. Now that's bad.

Day 3: 68%. D/l hasn't spiked above 20k once. I started it back up at like 7am, I've gotten 300mb since then. I have uploaded like 1gb. This blows. I'm getting like 11kb/s on d/l and sending a good 30-35 on up. Ridiculous.

And stop showing screen caps, it's bad enough that this download teases me everytime I look at it and it moves slow, stop gloating that you've seen it. =b

Heh, I had to redownload the first CD of it, since mine was corrupt. And today/tomorrow were the perfect days for me to watch them, since I'm off work until Friday. I can't figure out how to get vobsub to pop up on Core Media, anyone got the time to walk me through how to get it done?

is anybody else having problems with the audio on this? I downloaded the 2cd version btw, if it matters.
I cranked the volume up, but the characters talk so soft.

What player are you using? Do you have AC3 filters installed?

GLS
Sat, 12-11-2004, 11:49 AM
I'm using BS Player.

I googled the AC3 filter, and downloaded it. Works great! i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif
Thanks for the help, Nem

EDIT: Watched the movie last night, and WOW! What an awesome movie! i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif
On a side note, this ripped from animenewsnetwork.com:

LA-based Axis Entertainment has teamed up with Micott & Bazara, the creators of Appleseed, to co-produce two Appleseed sequels. Planned is an Appleseed TV series and a possible live-action film.

I still need help getting the subtitles on this to collaborate into the actual picture. I've got Core Media, but I can't get Vobsub to run. It ran with matroska files, but my mkv's are all acting quirky on Core now. I've got Windows Media as well, if that'd be any easier. If it'd be even easier to get another player and run it through that, then fair enough. I've had the damn thing for like 4 days now and I want to understand it when I watch it. >;/

Was really good, a definetate recommend. I think I'll have to watch the original again (only seen the once, years ago...) to see how the story compares i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif

This is a great movie, but sadly it's totally overshadowed by the hype of Advent Children. Despite that, I think AC will still rip this apart.

Watched the movie yesterday and I have to say it's AWESOME!! I got the ASS version and the subs worked fine for me (used the Xine player under Linux). The only thing that bothered me was that they called her Duenan instead of Dunan all the time, but oh well... she really kicks ass, no matter how her name is spelled. i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif So go watch it guys!

Sadly, AC is coming out in about 6 months, so the competition isn't really that fierce.

After having the movie sitting in my hard drive since it came out, I finally decided to sit down and watch it...

I liked the movie alot...

One thing that bothered me is that I still don't like coputer designed characters... they fail to show emotion and their movements looks sluggish most of the time...

Aside from that, the action sequences looked geat...

Now I can't wait till the TV series and the Second movie come out, I think they're slated for sometime in 2006
