I have been here at GW for a while now, and I realize 1 or 2 so-called "moderators" have now become more of a person with authority that abuses it. I base my statement on short snappy 2 word answers to close threads and insults that could potentially hurt someone's feelings...
So you might think someone is weak if they get hurt from insults over the net... the thing that attracted me to GW (besides great fansubs with aone), is the great civilness of the forum and general politeness... so i wish for it to stay that way and insults at a minimum, even if it is small things like that.
Some suggestions with thread locking:
I get the feeling some moderators feel as though they wish to build character through closing threads (acting cool). Sometimes, threads are more about discussion, fun, and communication over whether the content adheres to the topic. Most people here are seasoned GW users and don't need to be regulated in such a fashion in regards to where to post some topics. My argument here is, consider a thread that has everyone focused and replying on a legitimate topic. If, one person strays away from the topic, it could potentially be closed. If it does get closed, it could be a loss to the communication at GW.
Maybe an official reason for closing the thread. Maybe a vote by moderators whether thread reopens. Maybe a vote by members to reopen or not. Maybe the user that opened the topic can lock his own thread.
Just trying to help. If these are no good, tell me why =)
