Ok, the standard video codecs that you should use to play back anime are Divx, Xvid, and FFDShow. There are links to all those in the post that I made here (http://forums.gotwoot.net/messageview.cfm?catid=26&threadid=10560&enterthrea d=y). For audio codecs, I reccomend AC3 Filter (http://www.softpedia.com/public/cat/11/1/2/11-1-2-60.shtml) and AAC (http://www.baka6.com/download/SetupAAC.exe). Hope I could help.

I recently reinstalled windows XP and even after installing the recommended codecs, which I had installed previously, I couldn't get anything to work.
Finally I just uninstalled everything, and updated my video drivers to current (I use nvidia). Then, I installed the XVID codec and bsplayer and all my movies work great, not to mention the wierd black block stuff I was getting on the recent encodes of daa daa daa went away. I reinstalled divx player, which I prefer and that works fine too, and wmp 6.4
Oh, and for those with "slow" systems, mine is a PIII 450 , not exactly new, so I always have trouble with running divx smoothly. It runs fine now.
I hope this helps other people with similar problems who still can't get stuff to work even after installing the recommended codecs. Try updating your video drivers first, THEN start installing codecs. From what I've gathered, less is more and apparantly all -I- need is XVID.
