Well storywise it sucked but LMAO it was pretty funny with all of Kakashi's different faces and his reactions to those books and the movie... and when he got punched by that glove thing at the restaurant. And it was pretty refreshing to see Sasuke do funny faces and whatnot considering his mega-seriousness. All in all it was fun. And as usual, I seem to be the only one who think so...

Kakashi must be one hell of a bish underneath the mask considering the reaction of the clerks, even the male one blushed lol

Oh and finally, Sakura in a towel = Dead sexy

The only part I enjoyed was the beginning, that oddly enough IT WAS in the manga (as an special I believe), the rest is like they tried too hard to make you laugh.
Seems we'll be seen nonsence for a while, I think instead of sending the team on new missions they should put more of the other characters instead, I don't mind seen Neji training or Shikamaru playing chess or something else.... but hey, what do I know.

i thoroughly enjoyed this episode, with the manga being so serious lately its nice to see the characters do something funny that doesnt involve kagebunshin chases or stepping in dog shit. it looks like the next episode may be the begging of the filler arc everyone was talking about long ago. frankly, i dont seee how they can put filler in at this moment in the series, it just doesnt work out, and i cant go into why it doesnt...damn...

I thought this episode was some funny stuff. It's not something I'd go back and watch if I rewatched the series, but it was a decent filler episode IMO.

Usually, I would not think an episode was bad, but this episode... It just did not feel like Naruto. The characters were drawn all weird, and I felt like they tried too hard to make it humorous. The characters did not even act like they normally would. I was hoping that by the end of the show, it ends up as Naruto having a weird dream or what not. There were some funny parts, but overall, it did not feel or look like Naruto... almost a different series/universe all together (Tenchi Universe anyone?).

Why, just WHY, did they make Sasuke and Kakashi appear as complete morons in this episode? Kakashi should be uninterested, Sasuke should not care for whatever he can care for, so why did they destroy these cool characters' character?

Furthermore, why not making good filler? Insert a short storyline like the Zabuza / Haku story (13 episodes) or, if they are too untalented, something like Garlic Jr. All these boring episodes really make me hate the series.

It's pretty obvious to me that the episode was meant to be completely ridiculous.

The instant the bird flew by TELLING you this was gonna be the worst episode every its pretty much saying two things. 1. "If your a sad fanboy who takes any deviation from what you consider the "holyness" of this cartoon as some kind of sacrelige, your gonna hate this episode." and 2. "If you have some sense of humor and the presence of mind to realize that this entire episode is meant as a joke, then come and enjoy the gags."

And to that end I think they succeeded perfectly.

Plus the hot ass of Sakura. That's always a plus. Her ninja uniform just doesn't do her justice.

I thought this was a funny episode. Naruto has been so serious lately and the last episodes just bored me this was refreshing. No rather I thought it was good because of all the boring episodes lately, maybe. But it was funny. Even though the characters where taken out of character somewhat it was fun to watch them act goofy. Seeing Kakashi acting like a kid was cute.

Oh, did anyone notice there was a point in the episode that had some Japanese words on the top and the number 100? Do they mean that the actual 100 episode is coming up next episode or is that translation completely different?

I agree with most of the people here, it seemed like the regular animators took a day off, and some substiute reject people took to draw the characters, the characters looked a little off especially naruto with his eyes, even their voices seemed a little off, it seemed like the whole naruto team took a episode off and some reject team did this episode. this episode was like a nightmare, i hope they get back on track soon.

I really liked this episode, characters not taking everything seriously, that's a real relief from tensionfull/emotionfull episodes we had recently. Plus, it was funny!

This ep really remembered me of the first batch of episodes that made me watch Naruto at first. Of course I also like story-advancing episodes, but a couple of comic-relieving episodes are refreshing.

And for those whining that it was an awful episode, for me this episode beats EVERY Konohamaru episodes by a great margin.

i guess people's problem isn't that it's comical, or un-related to the main story..

but it's so far removed from the rest of the naruto universe, and kind of generically lame.

i'm sure some of you will flame this, but take a show like bebop, which had very wacky episodic situations, but they also used these to flesh out the characters a bit...

personally, i like some of the other characters more than i like the main three. i wouldn't mind seeing "filler" episodes involving them... those episodes where they showed everyone doing their respective training and such were kinda nice actually... but too many random bad guys showing up who are obviously pathetic and weak only to be beaten by their own incompetence.. it's okay every once and awhile but it leaves you wanting more..


oh and WTF? the TEA country? who would live in the tea country when the other countries have names like fire and wind?

what's next, naruto going to eat some noodles at the ladybug country??

Not one of the best? That is the understatement of the year! You could have replaced Team 7 with Bugs, Daffy, Elmer Fudd, and Marvin Martian and still have had the same effect as Ep. 101. Why bother going into character development for 100 episodes only to waste everyone's time with a garbage episode like that. If this was episode 1 instead of 101 I would not be Naruto fan. If you watch the half hour movie special, you can see that many Japanese Naruto fans (scenes in the auditorium) are around the age of ten. I suppose they are catering to that audience, I hope this does not mark a permanent change in the tone and maturity of the series.

I liked this episode. It adds some variety to the characters, so they don't seem so one-dimensional. It's much more fun if you can't always predict what each person is going to do. The whole thing with Kakashi and the comics/movie was great.

Sure, the humor was cheesy, but the ep was definitely worth the download.

I for one am very tolerant of crappy episodes/series/fillers... but this episode i couldnt even watch 10 minutes of it... it was too lame... it broke down character profiles... It massacred Sasuske... I'm fine with fillers as long as they dont fuck up with characters personalities... and episode 101 was just a huge mistake... if they needed a filler they could have done a much better one

Hate to break it to ya, but things will only get worse. I'd rather see 30 episodes of Naruto and the crew making comedy faces, than waste animation on an insignificant characters who were NEVER a part of the manga. And that's why we'll be seeing for a while. Just like Rurouni Kenshin.

dotn get em wrong, i've told ppl to quit complaining myself a few times, but its usually works a lot better when u provide good reasons with ur arguments.

besides, this was hardly a filler. it was more of a joke (a very sad and pathetic joke). konohamaru cryign over sarutobi, or jiraya/naruto/tsunade taking a trip to a bath house, those are actuall fillers, as they differ from the manga but still follow and progress the story. This ep did nothing of the sort, and infact screwed up a few thigns, or so the manga readers tell us.

okai, unlike a lot of people moaning about how crap this episode was, i only just downloaded it coz i waited for anbu or aone to release their eps.
i thought the episode was damn hilarious! and for once it shows that sasuke really is a 13 year old.. gosh, if a real 13 year old was THAT serious wouldn't you be a little scared? unless 13 year olds in your neck of the woods all act like that.

Well, I also waited for the ANBU download, and the episode was pretty freaking hilarious. Haha, best part was in the ramen house with the Punk'd stuff and the fight between the two teams.

haha, I just saw the anbu version of it. I thought it was funny. I really don't see the fuss about it being a filler. The anime is catching up to the comics very fast and thats not really a good thing. So about 2-3 filler episodes is fine with me. Could do with a small break from the serious stuff. Yikes, I never noticed that until you pointed that out. Going through the episode again and again (it's freaking funny, that's how much I watched it), when you first see the Haze ninjas in the flashback, all 3 of them have it *shudder*

That was the worst thing I've ever seen. Not only did they completely butcher the characters in order to make some lame slapstick jokes. But they also introduced some completely irrelevant, and otherwise NONEXISTENT, Ninjas. Subsequently harming the Naruto world as whole. This episode is a disgrace to the entire Anime, and every copy should just be burnt.

Try to make more sense. If this is your limit, then I feel for you. Based on my guesses, I think you need the following:

-DivX 5 codec
-XviD (not sure if this is necessary for the fansubs, get it anyways)
-AC3 audio filter (again, not sure if this is necessary, get it anyways)
-Any media player

For the media player, the DivX player that comes with the codec works best for Naruto for me. I get sync problems sometimes with other players, so try a few and compare.

Anyways, we had a couple new people watch today who'd never seen Naruto before, and I was embarrassed that they had to watch it as their first Naruto ep. Our conversation was punctuated with "What is going on?" "This is ridiculous" "Naruto is NOT like this, believe me"

I think they'll keep watching though. According to one, "That frog made it all worthwhile."

Yeah, I don't think I'll be sad when the fillers end. I'm looking forward to the real story starting back up.

i wouldnt say this was the WORST episode ever (flashback to Konohamaru eps...). I was a little pissed at the straying from the manga (stops there...), but whatever. I thought this was a rather funny episode, including the bird's "worst episode ever" comments, and that ever-so-sexy Sakura towel scene (someone on an earlier page said she should have been wearing the bikini from the credits...i agree i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif ). Naruto's descriptions of Kakashi (buck teeth, and full lips) were f'ing HILARIOUS! Also, seeing Kakashi being a little less serious, and flipping out at the sight of the Make-out Violence Movie was great! I personally thought the BEST scene was at Ichiraku Ramen..."YOU'VE BEEN PUNK'D!" Kinda weird to see American crap shows incorporated into fine Japanese Entertainment, eh?...
