Hi
I'm lookin over all your signatures. Yours are amazing and i wanna try making some of my own but i know nothing about this stuff.
What app do you use?
Basically i got a bunch of screenshots that i think would be cool for my sig, i open them. Then i'm lost..
Is there a good place to learn how to make this kinda stuff?
I mean BASIC BASIC tutorials. Like open picture, set background, lay images in... (god i dont know shit)
I looked on the net and i can't find anything like these.
Also, do you pay for hosting? I dont know how i would host mine if i made one, but my isp provides webspace i dunno if that would work for image linking though.

the program to use is photoshop, or some people like paint shop pro or fireworks or gimp. as far as tutorials id start with going to www.purephotoshop.com, as well as just doing some basic google searched tutorials. after that to host it use a site like www.photobucket.com or something to host it(its free).

Photoshop indeed.

I don't pay for host, I have a free one which a friend got for me.

I'm entirely self-learned but there are probably some nice tutorials out there...

Photoshop is the way to go. A good site to visit is: http://www.good-tutorials.com
It simply takes time and practice to get good.

yep photoshop is the thing. you're selftaught terra? cool. i had to read a bunch of tutorials before i knew how to do stuff i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif just a piece of advice: dont get discouraged if you dont make the sig you see in your head on your first try. it will take some time to learn it.

well, im no pro or anything, but what else i like to do, is when i see a sig i like, or maybe just a certain effect in the sig i like, i try to think of how they did that. i try to think of the steps they took to achieve that look. then, from that, i try to use it, then change it to do what i would want. i dont know, but personally, i think it helps me

I was taught how to make sigs over gotwoot, actually.

'Back in the day', when the sig request thread had just come out. My first attempt was an asuma sig: I used 3 images, 1 text layer and a cloud background. Needless to say, it was sub-average.

But after alot of practice, trial and error, and tips and tricks from lasaire-sensei, I ended up overturning the heavy favourite albino-fury and winning the first ever sig-contest! (i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif yeah, I'm still rubbing it in, Albino)

Point of the story is, If you have creativity in you, and some spare time, sig making will come to you. Use tutorials for effects, and never be afraid to use brushes or filters or ANYTHING.

Remember, photoshop has Multiple Undos. thats the best part about sigmaking.

Blah, you beat me to it. Definately go to Good Tutorials, that's pretty much where I learned everything.

Edit: It wouldn't let me quote that properly.

btw, possiblE how do you do those cool shapes on that sig of yours?

Use the lasso tool and make shapes. Then add strokes or something. You'll find lots of tuts on good-tutorial.

Just try to learn stuff by messing around with photoshop. And read tuts, you'll learn stuff.
I'm mostly self-learned, but catched some cool stuff from tuts.

Just hang in there

Lasso tool, I create the general outline shape, then I use the lasso to make the smaller lines inside.

ok, im not going to create a new thread because this is kinda related to what im looking for. when the forum was still invision power boards there was a pinned topic with a big list full of photoshop tutorials. there were a couple sites i liked but i lost my bookmarks to them because i had to format my harddrive a while back. this was a good list and this would really help out some of the beggining sig makers on the forums. anyone know if this list still exist, maybe someone happened to copy it down. please reply if you have an answer, thanks.

You choose the text tool, and type it in...
If you are talking about fonts, there is tons of sites. I prefer www.abstractfonts.com

Drow, you need to be more clear on your question... Are you saying you have a picture you want to use for your signature and you now need Photoshop to create the sig?

Photoshop 7 shouldn't be too had. You should be able to find it on most P2P programs, just make sure to scan for viruses.

You have to host it on a site, I prefer www.imageshack.us
Have the image hosted, then check the faq section, the rest is there I believe.

Well you don't always have perfect pics. You usually have to touch them up quite a bit.

littlecooldude
Sat, 02-26-2005, 01:46 PM
@[NSA]Crash: I use Photopshop CS, but 7 is good too.
@LinSanDesu: Load the picture in Photoshop, then Click, Image->Image Size. And adjust it to whatever you want.
