I think I mentioned this before, but I used to lift weights between rounds of CS. It was great until my arms would get tense and tired from the workout, at which point I couldn't move the mouse properly and would die easily in the game.
Is that at the parents' house, Kraco? Looks like they gave you the best room in the place. Have those trees produced any edible fruit?

Heh. I moved out when I was 18. I'm living alone currently.
Nah, the trees haven't produced any fruit, not even flowers ever. I guess the bigger orange tree in theory could flower but I'm not any citrus tree expert so I can't really say. The avocado is an even bigger mystery.

First impression wasn't "a vile laboratory", but it does feel like you're a research scientist or something with all the neat, organised equipment, whiteboard etc. With the green plants and sunlight, it gives an idea that you may be a botanist, or other plant/wildlife researcher.
I rather like it.

Wow, you moved out when you were 18? Pressure... To be honest the idea of moving out hasn't even crossed my mind, i'd like to have a stable job b4 doing something like that and living alone seems too... lonely.

Been the same for me. Living alone is way to expensive, especially since I'm still going to college and not dorming.
I get free food, free rent, and free utilities. I guess it's a good thing that there's less pressure nowadays to live alone at 18, and more freedom to be stable first especially since NYC is hella expensive to live in.

Egads, a CRT monitor?? Look at how much desk space you'd save with an LCD. And how cool would a nice poster be right over your desk? Or a mirror. A 52" flat panel would fill that nicely too.
Did Terra lend you that belt draped on the fan?

Sun, 04-20-2008, 02:15 AM
Yeah, I know, but I got the monitor for cheap $30, so I just got it. Soon I should be a getting a nice HD TV to fill up the rest of the space on the desk.
I've got some posters in the wardrobe and on top of the book case thing, but just too lazy to put them up, and don't have any blu-tack.

How much would all of those Ultramen be worth if they were still in their original factory packaging?
When you say this is "your" bedroom, is it shared with your wife or is there another room that you consider the master bedroom? Because with your collection it looks more like a den type room.

Shockingly, I never keep the original packages or tags because I don't buy them to resell later. I buy them for keeps, and if I don't feel like keeping them anymore chances are that I'll give them away.
When you say this is "your" bedroom, is it shared with your wife or is there another room that you consider the master bedroom? Because with your collection it looks more like a den type room.
It's actually 2 rooms combined into 1. Singapore flats are so small and expensive I've decided to combine the master bedroom together with another, and created a small walk-in wardrobe for my wife, which is just beside the toy shelves. This way, we have more space for the bed while having a small "entertainment" corner where I place my PS2 and DVDs. :D

Wow, because of another trick of the eyes I thought the two shelves were the same from different angles. Those are actually two separate shelves full of figures!!
I was kidding about the resale values of the figures. When I used to collect comics, my parents always bugged me about their resale value. They couldn't understand I bought them because I loved them, not as an investment. It was my fault though, since I had to justify all the money I spent on them, so I sort of told them it was an investment. I still kept them all in pristine condition though.

I took that picture in August, shortly after moving here. It's still pretty much accurate ... except that I've got my guitar (a cheap strat knockoff, red) in the left-side corner, a minor increase in clutter, and a new chair. Also a bookcase and a printer stand that aren't in the picture. No changes that are worth taking another picture for...
I've been thinking of rearranging to somehow fit my stationary bike into the room, so I can watch tv shows while getting some exercise like I could in my last two places, but with the door, closet and vent placement and just the dimensions of the room and the furniture, I'm not finding any way I could make it work.

complich8 should get one of those Aerogrow kits, so he can have vegetation in the room and grow herbs for cooking at the same time.
I imagine your feet dangle off that bed...
I was thinking of putting a stationary bike in my room, but I wonder if it would funk up the place when you work up a good sweat.
The room in the picture does look like you just moved in. A guitar and more clutter would help liven it up a bit.

It doesn't look as smooth and clear when you see it up close, since you can see all the grainy details.
I picked the better looking ones. There were a whole bunch of Naruto and Bleach ones that don't look nearly as good, or as artistic.

Yeah, that's what I meant. You have to put your face real close and examine the details. I'm sitting about 2 m away right now and they look pretty good. I'd need hawk eyes to see the grains from here.
Basically, it looks like those inkjet details when you examine it up close.

Yeah, if you're asking if you should buy a poster or a wall scroll, buy a wall scroll. They're durable, easy to transport, and like you said, have nicer image quality.

I've seen some nice posters. Wall scrolls are a lot bigger though. You can't hang too many in your room since each one takes so much space.
But they're definitely a lot easier to transport. It's really hard to move a paper poster around without damaging it.

For anyone who's interested, Nvidia stock is down to a low of under $12 a share. They've spent the last two years mostly in the $20-40 range. I wouldn't say buy now since there is still some bad news on the horizon, but once the price stabilizes, you should check it out.

Wow ds, nice spread, though about the same as before? Have you considered trading in all of those older games for some credit for new ones? Or do you not have Game Stop stores in your area, or just no interest in selling the games? I traded in 8 games for $200, which I used to buy 4 more games. Pretty sweet deal.

I just moved out of my apartment. If any of you saw the pictures I posted of my room last year, you can guess it was a pretty big ordeal cleaning up and getting everything out of there.
I have some serious pack-rat tendencies. I didn't want to throw a lot of stuff away because I thought they might be useful in the future or I had some sentimental attachment to them. In the end I had to recycle it all:
367 water bottles
http://img220.imageshack.us/img220/1962/waterbottles3.th.jpg (http://img220.imageshack.us/i/waterbottles3.jpg/)
I actually had more protein powders and mass gainers than this, but loads were thrown away by my mom and ex-girlfriend:
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/8809/seriousass.th.jpg (http://img403.imageshack.us/i/seriousass.jpg/)
I wanted to build a cashew tin robot. This was all I could manage:

Yeah, I vaguely thought I'd be able to do that, but I had a table in my car and 2 hours to move out so I just put them in the recycling bin.

Over here you get 40 cents from 1.5-2 liter bottles, 15 c from beverage cans, 10-20 c from smaller bottles, and 10 c from the myriad wine and other alcohol bottles from the alcohol stores. So, it's not really economically wise to store them overly much (because you may have paid even 40 cents for the container alone when purchasing the drink). Although I do have a bunch of 1.5l soft drink bottles I have kept aside for my automatic plant watering systems and a bunch of wine bottles I use to store mead when I make it.

Well, as promised, here are some pictures of my room where I lived this summer. I'll be here until the weekend, at which point I'm moving down the street. The nice part about this house was that it's all furnished. Starting next week though I'll need to scrounge my own furniture, so I might be sleeping on a pile of blankets on the floor for a bit until I find a free/cheap bed.
Anyhow, here's my current setup - I've got my dual monitors back! I found these both on craigslist, and they're exactly the same model, so I was pretty pleased about that.

That's a very nice setup you've got there KitKat. It's got a good balance between tidiness and cozy/homeliness. The red&white walls contrast with the wooden floorboards and furniture, resulting in an interesting mix of modern and olden feel to the room. I would miss it too if I had to move out.

Where else would I put it? In the bathroom so stranger's poopoo particles can spray all over it?
@Xan - I'm watching it 'cuz I heard Sheldon got a girlfriend.

I don't think I'll be happy with a room mate.

My roommate kept waking me up to say how proud of me she was for cleaning the room. I can't clean the floor till she moves the boxes though, lolz.
@Buff: Having a roommate isn't bad. You get used to it then you miss them when they're gone. :( Plus you have another person to appreciate your posters.

I think that having roommate is the worst thing possible - i can stand someone for week or two, but not longer.
you can always get your friends to admire your posters of awesomeness(tm).

Depends if you mean roommate as in sharing the same dorm or single room apartment. If you have a roommate where you have your own private rooms and share the living areas, then that's ok. Of course, if they are a slob in the kitchen, that's a deal-breaker.

Do you live in a co-op where you cycle responsibilities (cooking, cleaning, etc)?

More or less. The problem isn't cleanliness, it's how crowded the fridge is. I go downstairs and use the boy section of the Japanese Visual Culture floor's fridge.

We're talking about a roommate in the same room having sex while you hide under your sheets and type about it over the internet.

KUKUKUKU You remember that?
My RA has sex so loud that you can literally hear it from outside the suite. From the elevator.

Haven't used the G15 so I can't really comment on it, but all I know is this G19 is the best keyboard I've ever had! The mouse mat is a Razer Vespula.

Wow, that's a huge monitor. Still does 1980x1080 max resolution, right? I'm thinking of upgrading from my 24" Asus.

Yep that's the max res, I'd highly recommend it, it's a beaut. Quality is amazing. Love watching Anime and TV shows on it, as well as playing ps3 of course :)
