Giving a summary would actually spoil it for others, so I'm just going to explain you what kind of animation it is.

It's a little bit similar to kenshin samurai X, but the main character doesn't use any weapon, only his fists and feet.

The subtitles weren't entirely correct, but it's still a very good show. The video quality was good, and the subtitles still give you the gist of what's going on.

It's shaping up to be a pretty good series. I've gotta say, I'm kinda surprised. It seemed like there would be just a little plot as it went on, but that's not the case.

Episode 6 was a good episode, it seem's like this show is being made for Cartoon Network with the whole no blood thing. Finally saw Yakumo bleed but it was gone in the next sceen. Ep7 is looking to be a great one with Yakumo and Mushashi finally having their match.

Some how 7 fell under my radar but I just watched 7 and 8 and the Yakumo vs Mushashi matchup didn't disappoint me. The 20yr time jump cought me off guard but like you said it was done well and needed to be done considering there wasn't anything left for Yakumo to do. Watching Jubei Chan has me expecting a lot of Jubei. Anyways is it just me or did the show go in a full circle with the main characters?

^_^ went through a name change and became Aoi-Anime. I've only seen episode 8 of Lunar's releases and I like Aoi better since they have a smaller file size by 54mb without losing any quality.

Well I had read somewhere before that the series was about three or more generations so it didnt caught me off guard, but i did not think that they would be directly related... so that's was nice about it, it is simply the next generation so it does have a good transition

They had a pretty smooth (although very quick) transition into the future. The plot thickens. Episode 8 was great. I'll concur with Aeon, I prefer ^_^ and Aoi.

Ok, about the two new Mutsu's:
1) The Female Mutsu is not actually a Mutsu, she is a Sanada pretending to be one.
2) As for the Male Mutsu, given the look of his clothing, I would say he is actually a decendent of Yakumo, though I could be wrong.

I found it weird when they where eating and Iiori mentioned Yakumo, the Mutsu guy didnt even flinch or anything...

I guess that looking spaced-out is part of the Mutsu training since Yakumo was like that as well

At first i wasnt that impressed of this show even if i liked Yakumo from the start. The plot has really improved after the time jump and i loved the fight beteween Musashi and Yakomu is was a great fight. I think Takato is actully Yakumo cause Iori said Yakomu was 17,18 20 years ago so Takato must be Yakumo.

I really hope Musashi makes a comeback as figher or just appears more in the show cause he is a very cool characther.

You can read when you watch this show that it is a side story of the mutsu,is there another anime about another Shura?

If not mistaken... the anime tells the story about three generations of Mutsu.... before the intro ends we can see the three Mutsus... Yakumo, Takato, and who knows....

What I think they mean by the Mutsu side story is simply that they are retelling History by incorporating the Mutsu as the main character... as seing History through their experiences... dont know about a relation to any other anime

Lunar quality is quite good. The subs are good, too. Not as good as AonE projects, but good enough for me. I am only keeping only the Lunar subs for this Anime, though I heard that Aoi Anime was pretty good. I chose Lunar early on over Aoi because originally, they were ^-^, and that wasn't really good.

dont remember who but some body was asking why this was called shura no toki the side story .. well the original (Shura no mon) comes from and old 31 volume series that was published in Koudansha's Monthly Shounen Magazine from 1987 until 1997 the hero in this one is Mutsu Tsukumo..

so far we seen only two of his special moves

Mukuuha "no air wave", or "vacuum wave" Mutsu creates a miniature vacuum by causing his fist to vibrate at an extremely high rate, and he releases the energy as a wave into his opponents body. Capable of breaking ribs and doing damage to internal organs.

Ikazura "Thunder" A vicious throw manuever, Mutsu breaks his opponent's arm over his shoulder, performs a hip throw, and kicks his opponent in the back of the head on the way down.

One internet website on Yagyu Jubei stated that he dies in 1650. On another site, it stated that Musashi died in 1645. I do not currently have the episode at my disposal right now, but I think the year is stated somewhere. So if anyone can figure out what the current year is in episode 15, we can probably have a timeline available.

I think the point was that Takato would look like Yakumo so we wouldnt be sure if it was Yakumo,his son or something.

Takato is my fav mutsu he showed a lot more mustu skill and he feels a lot stronger than the new guy.

What, you don't know who the shinsengumi are? you need to go back and re-evaluate your life!

kidding, of course, you can either do that or take a short lesson in the history of japan:

in the later parts of the 1800, around 1870 or so, there was an uproar against the shougnate, which was caused by the ishin-shishi (people of change, in loose translation) who said that japan should open up to wide world, and not wait that the world will come by force and open it up.

anyway, alot of people fought, in what will be called 'the mejai restoration', one of the groups who fought were the shinsengumi, who were in the shougnate's side (the losing side), they were residents of kyoto (the capital of that time). thier fighting style (shienken ryo) had a special offensive forward thrust, which was invented bt hijikita, and was called Hirazuki. thier nickname was 'Mibu no Okami'- wolves of Mibu (the place were they originated from). one of thier most famous acts was the charge on the ikida-ya, a secret meeting of the ishin shishi leaders.

they numbered at about 100 fighting members at their prime, ten groups of ten people, plust the high commander (kondo, i think) and the two vice captains (hijikita and one other guy), the first divition captain was okita souji, who was said to be gentle\childish looking and was a genious of sword wielding and died young of some deases which it's name i don't know in english, the 3rd divition captain was Saito Hajime, who was said to be eqaul to okita. i don't remember the rest, (beside the 10th divition captain, Sanosuke, who was good with the spear).

for more information you should watch Peacemaker Kuragone and Rurouni Kenshin, PMK is directly about the shinsengumi, while RK deals more with the general topic of japan after and during the mejai restoration, and is much better than PMK. both are licenesed.

and back to the topic: i hate Ryoma, he should die, and so should Izumi, let Saito kill both of them, i say, the anime is laughing at japan's national heros and makes them seem like dorks.

He is the same Ryoma cause theyboth like boats alot and want to sail around the world and they both use pistols so they dont kill people with the sword. I read about the real Sakamoto and how the both anime describe suit very well.

Just reading the description of this show gave a weird feeling because of the much more recent Katanagatari. However, in practice this is quite different, the only shared element being an uber unarmed martial art designed to defeat sword wielding opponents. Differences are much more myriad, though, like the fact Mutsu seems to be just one of three main characters. Another one is a man no lesser than Miyamoto Musashi himself... I suppose it's easy to make somebody look badass by having him catch Musashi's attention.

After three eps it doesn't look like this show has any bigger plot whatsoever. But who knows.

Hard to tell, you'd have to shift through the Shura no Toki manga and the Shura no Mon manga.

The anime pretty much only 3 volumes of a total 15 volumes were animated from the Shura no Toki manga.

And considering that the mangas haven't been scanlated, though some volumes of Shura no Mon have been a whle ago, I doubt many would be able to help you on your request.
