download the gordian knot codec pac - that has solved all my issues with playing back files - I can WMP9, DIVX or Winamp 5.03 - all play just about any fansub completely clean.

you should go to anime support forum
anyway
you need divx codec - http://www.divx.com
you need ffdshow 2003-5-23 version -http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=53761&package_id=59355
and maybe if you watch xvid codec eps, http://www.divx-digest.com/software/xvid.html

This is not really about codecs, I was just wondering if there was perhaps something I could do to speed up my computer, because when I watch anime it seems very choppy, even after I close all the background programs down that are not 100% needed, and close all the spyware programs i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif.
My computer is a few years old.. think I should just upgrade my processor, get a video card.. or I mean wtf should I do? i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif

ffdshow & klite all the codecs you'll ever need and use Zoom Player it has exellent support for all codec packs
i think they should start using mp4 format you don't have to worry about getting sync problems when converting to DVD like you get with Xvid and divX sometimes
