I figured it out...

if the current trend of 2 manga chapters per anime episode keeps up then give or take a few weeks depending on filler eps... on the week of 9-26-2005 anime episode 155 should air. This episode should cover manga chapters 288 and 289. The week of 9-26-2005 should also see the relase of manga chapter 289

First colum is the anime episode aired that week, then the next two colums are what manga chapters that anime episode covers, then the week of airing, then the manga chapter released that week.

a) basic math
b) nothing new, you are the third to calculate that
c) 2 chapters per episode is rare, 1.5 is much more usual and the average tends to 1.5 too. Then they catch up around anime 250/manga 320 or sth like that

yes it was basic math, all i did was fill out 2 rows in excel and let excel do the rest. But i alwasy here people talking about it and specualating and even people saying "to bad the anime will be caught up to the manga by the end of the year" and they are to lazy to figure it outthemselvs, so what if im the 3rd, i guess noboby but u read the other 2 because everybody else doesnt know. 78 was 2.5 chapters but it usualy averages out to 2 chapters. its just an estimate

Besides I don't think that will actually be correct since anime has a habit of throwing in fillers when it's starting to get closer to the manga.

this is what i posted last night.....presuming that there are 1.7 chapters for each episode

if naruto was to keep at the pace it is now for a long enough time, then you can start worrying about it catching up in 3 years from now

actually i only know of one episode that covered more than 2 chapters: the most recent episode
1.7 though is about what you get when you divide the current anime episode into its respective chapter #

yes, for the anime to catch up to the manga at a rate of 2 chapters = 1 episode: fall 2005 (late next year)

but its not 2 chaps per episode...if we devide the amount of chaptes the anime has covered with the amount of episodes that have been aired, we get: 135/78 = 1.75 chapters per episode.

quick calculation gives me 2 years (around this time in 2006) for the anime to catch up.(77 chapters x 1.75 = 44 weeks for the anime to reach chap 212--->44 new chaps released=> 44x1,75=25 weeks for it to reach chap 256, 25x1,75=14, 14x1,75=8, 8x1,75=5, 5x1,75=3 ect
when you sum all the weeks, youll get around 100 weeks, wich is about 1 year. could fluxuate a bit because of inaccuracy)

i just used
y=1.7x+78 (y=# of anime eps, x=# of weeks after last week)
y=x+211 (y=# of chapters, x=# of weeks after last chapter)

then just plot the intersection, which is at exactly 190 weeks from now, which = about 3.65 years from now

edit: i also tried (135/78) instead of 1.7 in the first formula, and still got 182 weeks (3.5 years)
which would be fall of 2007

your formula's are not correct. you are making a comparrison between 2 things, but the y=vectors are 2 diffirent things, wich makes is false. y in formula 1 = anime episodes and y in formula 2 is chapter numbers, and 1 chapter of the manga isn't the same as 1 episode....

the real correct formulas schould be:
Y=1.7X+135 (Y=#of chapters, X=# of weeks and 135 stands for the 135 CHAPTERS the anime has already covered)
Y=X+212 (Y=# of chapters, X=# of weeks and 212 stands for the blablabla)

intersect on calculator gives intersection at X=110 with Y=322 wich means in 110 weeks from now, with chapter 322, the anime will cover the same stuff as te manga.

you could also use:
Y=1.7X
Y=X+77

same formula as above, but taken from this moment, the manga is 77 chapters ahead. basicly, it are the first formula's, but minus the 135 chaps.

but its still far off, there will be breaks between eps and issues double eps... maybe double issues... ect... hard to predict when it will happen and when they get close they will prolly take a small break make some some lame side stories just for tv that have nothing to do with the manga(like onepeice did) ect... lets hope they dont pull a hxh and catch up to it then release ova's every year or so...
