strongest jounin

alright guys lemme kno what u think, out of all the jounins that have been introduced so far, who do u think is the strongest, list 3 of them in order of the strongest

2.gai
3.anko

if you count orochimaru and jiraiya, then they are the strongest. but if you don't, i think your list is accurate.

Hm... Zabuza was pretty strong... Made Kakashi use the Sharingan... there was also another legendary ninja, but (s)he hasn't been formally introduced. I personally think (s)he is the Genin that was with Oro and Ero-sennin at the beggining. The blonde chick. Thats just a guess tho.

Zabazu (I know he isn't hidden leaf, but he's strong, and I didn't want to make a Hidden Mist for 1 character)

We're in the anime section, these people don't know about Itachi. I forgot Zabuza and Baki also, they're both probably stronger than Asuma.

Kabuto is a jerk, but he beat Kakashi. Well, at least, Kakashi wasn't able to get him.
Asuma is strong. He killed 9 Sound-nins just like that. I assume they were at jounin level.

I guess, all in all, Jiraya would be the answer.

Kabuto being one of the stronger ones is probably true, even though he is technically a Genin. Also Jiraiya and Orochimaru aren't really Jounin, they're Sannin, which is above Jounin level. Otherwise, one them would be the obvious choice.

Techically, Uchiha Itachi was already introduced, he's the brother of Uchiha Sasuke.
And, I believe Sennin is a title, not a rank.

There's a difference between sannin and sennin, and the whole jounin/sennin rank or title was already discussed, so I won't keep going into that.

Either way, I don't think he meant sennin or sannin to be included in the choosing. After reading the hierarchy thread and the forehead protector one he can decide if he wants to edit it in his orignal post, so that nobody chooses them.

jaraiya is still a juunin of the leaf like the rest of the 3. they just have the title of a sage which isnt a rank. but since oro isnt part of the leaf no more i would have to say the remaining two and gai and kakashi

People seem to think now that we're only talking about Leaf Jounin now. I guess the maker of the thread needs to be more specific about who he wants included. If we're talking about Leaf Jounin (sages included) I'd go Jiraiya, Kakashi, and Gai then.

I suppose it makes sense that I would count Jiraiya and Orochimaru up at the top if we are including them. But I have no idea why everyone seems to think that Jiraiya is stronger than Oro. We've had no comparison between them so far except that Oro's sealing technique on Naruto's belly was rough. Aside from that, Sarutobi keeps saying how Oro was the genius that comes along every couple of decades. He never said anything about Jiraiya being any good.

I don't know anything about Itachi, because I just watch the anime, but are we sure he's a jounin? All we know is that he killed most of his family and has a Konoha headband.


For the ones who we absolutely know are jounin, I would guess Kakashi, Gai, and Anko. Kakashi is Konoha's #1 technique specialist. Gai is beating Kakashi in their sparring matches. And Orochimaru said that Anko is a special jounin. I'm guessing that's a good thing.

Then again, Ebisu is a "special jounin" and I'm not too impressed with him.

Gai is a huge ass beater. He has superior speed to Kakashi and is the village's taijutsu master.
Although we have never seen Hiashi fight, he is the Hyuuga heir and is a master of the Byakugan.
Kakashi is also a big ass beater. He looses a little in my rankings though because his sharingan is obviously not natural.

We actually have seen Hyuuga Hiashi fight once. He beat the #1 ninja from the Lightning country in one shot.

But the reason I didn't choose him is I don't know if he's a jounin. He doesn't have a Leaf headband anywhere.

Actually, the #1 ninja from the Lightning Country (Hidden Cloud Village) should be the Raikage. The ninja that Hiashi defeated was a "Shinobi Gashira (Kashira)" which translates into Shinobi Leader... he was most likely a representative of the Hidden Cloud Village.

In the Naruto Character Data Book, Hiashi is labeled as the Hyuuga Ke Toushu which means the Head of the Hyuuga Household. This is most likely a title within the Hyuuga Clan considering the Hyuuga is like a royal family within the Leaf. Hizashi, Neji's father and Hiashi's twin brother, was of the jounin rank... so, it can be assumed that Hiashi also achieved it.

The main reason that people are saying Kakashi is because they have seen a lot out of him. I think that it is a little bit early to make a decision considering that we have only seen them fight once or twice. We saw Asuma fight once in the episode where they stayed behind for the ambush. Similarly, we have only seen Gai fight briefly in the recent episodes.

I tried to say it a while ago, but as the Japanese would say...muda da...
There are the following ranks, that we know so far:
Student, Genin, Chunnin, Jounin and Hokage.
There are different functions, Special Jounins, Anbu, Hunting-nin. And I assume they're all at a jounin level. There are academy teachers, and they're at a Chunnin level. I believe that's what we know so far.
Also there are missing-nin, but I am assuming you can run away from the village independent of your rank. Maybe you'd be hunted or not, but that's beside the point.
The way I see it, like huh in the Army, two soldiers can be at the same rank, but one have medals and the other doesn't. More or less, that is what happen with the Sennin title.
As for Sannin, I can think of huh, Jesse James. There were tons of robbers like him, but he became *legendary*. Sannin means three people... It's to say oh, *those* (famous) guys.
So, there's no other know rank those three can have. Above jounin, there's only Kage, and those guys ain't that.
As for choosing the strongest, maybe this guy should just have named the ones *he* thinks are strong and put it into a vote. If he wanted us to name who is the strongest jounin, it's Jiraiya, there's no argument about that, so far.
You cannot ask, who is the strongest Jounin and if the answer is not to your liking, you come and say, oh, but this guy is not a jounin...that's really lame.

These guys, but i'd like to add Itachi. I don't know any of his strenght yet, but i do think he is one of the strongest.

But when/if Naruto become a Jounin, he will be the strongest.

Orochimaru wasn't the guy who summoned the snakes. I could understand if you're just saying that Jiraiya is strong. I definitely agree. The sand ninjas who summoned the snakes should be no match for the hermit.

But we've seen no indication that he's stronger than Orochimaru. In fact, the only time Sarutobi mentions his students, it's just to say that Orochimaru was the genius. He doesn't even mention Tsunande or Jiraiya

when was it ever stated that itachi became an actual jounin by achieving the title? i thought he only became a chuunin and then left the village for good.

EDIT: to post below...and are we all agreeing that anbu is a special rank that can be achieved by jounins? i thought it was just a separate rank by itself, not a branch off from the jounin rank and you become anbu before being able to become a jounin.

You can post arguments on the hierarchy in Naruto in the Ninja Ranks thread, which is a couple pages down. Kakashi using genjutsu on Zabuza to copy his movements before he even did them was probably the most impressive genjutsu seen by a jounin in the anime. Haku no Fuyu, you might want to edit the spoilers from your post, Itachi_ was already banned for it. We haven't seen Kurenai fighting in the anime so far.

one things i am little concerned about is how strength here in the Naruto universe is benig looked in the same way strength in the DBZ universe. fact of the matter strength in Naruto is relative to enemy skills/talents. Unless we are dealing with individuals on hokage lvl skill such and one of the 3, or Itachi.
and amoung thoose lvls certain skills again work better against the other. for instance i have no doubt that Oro could beat Jyraiya. but on the same note Oro cannot beat Itachi- and knows it. but i am pretty confident that Jyraiya could take Itachi. *REMOVING SPOILER*i am not going to say anyone jounin is stronger than the other, i will say some Jounin's Genjutsu abuility exceeds that of another, same with Taijutsu, and Ninjutsu; and rankings within there.

Why is everyone saying Itachi is so great? Lithonite even refers to him as nearly kage level.

We haven't even been introduced to his skill level yet. All we know is that he killed a bunch of people. I don't know about the rest of you who only watch the anime, but having everyone talk about how great Itachi is sure seems like spoiling to me.

Well, Sakura didn't pass the Chuunin exam so she would have to wait a year to take it again. She's an ok ninja. She's not the strongest but she does have the best ability to control her chakra. I think she has an okay shot at being a jounin. But as for the strongest jounin so far, I would go with Kakashi, since he has his Lightning Edge and over 1000 moves copied with his Sharingan.

But what about Gaara's Jounin... he seems to be pretty strong... I think if he fights, it'll take Gai and Kakashi to own him.
