To be honest i think it sux...this is my second try...still learning...

The effects are badass but with just that it doesn't really work, you should work som more on it.

I got an idea for it, Make a smaller crop, i would suggest 400x110 or so and get most of impulse but just the arm and head of Kira then you could color it red or another color that works well with a shinn render. Just a suggestion though, If you don't feel like trying it i would like to, if you would allow me to use that picture that is.

This is not really a sig, more like some graphical fun.
It was hilarious to make really, I used a bunch of sprite rips and shit and came up with a fighting game looking banner. It's Testament from the Guilty Gear series (best 2D fighters ever). It might look a bit busy but I don't give a fuck, most of you guys are way too fixated with your "a graphic in the middle of nowhere and lots of void around it because filling my sig is wrong" bullshit anyway. And again, it was really fun to make, so...

I found the sprites here (http://ggxlol.highervoltage.net/). AWESOME site, which has almost every sprite and piece of art from Guilty Gear.

Edit: Also, for the reference, this is how my first sig looked (http://www.deviantart.com/view/9184768/). So yeah Deckz, your first work is really outstanding in comparison.

meh the renders nice but it has so much more potential 3d render > 2d renders anyday of the week. So unless you want to make something specifically designed for an anime character you should always try to use 3d renders. Or atleast digital colored renders like manga covers or something.

I've got 2 questions regarding photoshop which I know you guys can help me with. I'm using CS2 by the way.

1) How do you fade away a layer? I mean like around 100% opacity on 1 end and 0% opacity on the other end. I know it can be done thru the eraser but that's very tedious. I'm sure there's a simpler way but I can't find it.

2) When I adjust the colour balance of a layer the entire image gets affected. Is there a way to just adjust the colour balance for a certain layer?

1. THe only way I can think th acomplish something like the first is to use the gradiant tool and then adjust the opacity to where you like it.

2. Depending ofn what you want to do. Say if you just want a certain area only affected by the color balance, then you can use either the lasso tool to select that certain area and mess with the color balance and it wont affect the surronding areas, but it will affec all the layers below the color balance.
Or you could create a new document copy the layer and move it over to the new document, then mess with the color balance, then merge the layers and move it back to the original document. Then erase the old copy. Colr balance affects any layer that is below it so perhaps you can accopmlish it by just moving around your layers, it all depends where the layer is. You could adjust the color balance on a couple of layers if they are the first couple and then merge them and then the color balance wont affect new layers after the merger if you place them below the newly merged layer. Hope this helps you, there are several ways to go about this.

1. Add a layer mask to your layer. Then apply a straight gradient to the mask, black (or dark) being parts you want low opacity, and white (light) being parts you want high opacity. You can only use greyscale on the layer mask. The layer mask button is in the same place as the New Layer button on the layers window.

2. Select your layer. Go to Layers > New Adjustment Layer > Color Balance. This will only affect the layer under it.

Edit: Ok here's a Gungrave sig. Not very flashy. The line "Welcome home" is by far my favorite line in the entire series.

psyke idk if its been mentioned but im too lazy to read. One of the cool ways I like to do color balancing is hold ctrl and click on the layer you dont want affected or the only layer you want affected and left click on the layer on the layer pallette while holding ctrl. A lasso selection will form around the layer now do a color balance it it'll work.

get rid of the copy behind him, looks stupid. Other then that I think its prettyh good. You need to work on your brightness/contrast. The colors look unatural and weird, I think you either messed with the levels or curves too much.

There are also ways to enhance the quality of an image so if you find yourself stuck with a low one, its pretty easy to fix it up (should be loads of them on Good Tutorials. Its way over contrasted you can tell mostly by his hair and face. See how its like turning into one solid bright color. Bg is good but its also over contrasted. This usually happens when you either duplicate the image and overlay it, or when you use the color balance or brightness/contast.

After taking a month break (because of school, video games, and my anime-binges) I have returned. I've started a sig that I want to make my best yet... and here's what I've got so far (I hurridly "finished" it to have a product to present):

I have been playing Star Ocean 3 and Albel is probably the best game character I have ever seen. So I've been wanting to do a sig of him. Took me a few days to find a good enough render (even though the entire picture was dark, so I had a touch time jsut cutting Albel out). Anyways... I realized that all my sigs are pretty much the same style, so I wanted to try something different. So far, I've only really messed with the render and the back/foreground a bit (the text and border were part of the "hurried finish"). However, I would like some criticism (some of your constructive criticism would do just fine Kage... i/expressions/face-icon-small-tongue.gif ) on moving forward with the piece. Thanks in advance...
