IGNORE the "Mark this Message as the Answer" option. It's ANNOYING, when it deals with posts that don't pose a question, or need any real answer. If you are posing a question, then its fine, otherwise... don't do it.

Any "Answered" posts will be locked down, effective immediately.

I would think that the thread wouldn't be marked "answered" and locked until the question was answered.
