Help on keyboard

a few days ago i spilt soup on my keyboard and now its really sticky, and whenever i press a key, the key would come back up slowly. I tried taking each key out and cleaning it with water, but its still sticky, anyone got a better solution? help would be greatly needed.

Yeah you would probably have to get a new one. They're not that expensive. You could get a decent one for like 20 bucks.


Since we're on the topic some weird things have been happening to my keyboard too. For some reason whenever i watch something on my computer (ie. anime) my keyboard gets messed up and all the keys get jumbled. When i type a J it comes up as a 1, when i type a 0 it comes up as / etc...
Anyone know whats wrong?

Thanks hiroshi. I think i fixed it. I guess i just had multiple keyboard languages installed. I don't know if thats possible but thats what it seemed like.

For the 1st question:

Don't wash the keys with just water alone. You could use an adhesive such as lighter fluid (Not recommended), or you could use Washing up liquid and water to wash the sticky substance off. I would recommend that you do it to each key that sticks only, and not the keyboard itself. The keyboard itself relies on a circuit board inside, and so if the keyboard itself is sticky, then there isn't much you can really do.

If you're willing to risk it, then you could use lighter fluid on the end of a bit of cloth, and use that to rub around the sticky areas on the keyboard itself. This would be best to control the area that the liquid can go to, but it stinks like hell lol. Anyway, hope it works out for you.

2nd Question:
Yeah i know this one. I've had that on occasion, and i normally have to restart to correct the problem. Sometimes the correction is only temporary though, before the problem re-occurs.

Firstly, check your keyboard settings. What keyboard language do you have installed? Then check the model of your keyboard. What country does your keyboard belong to? Also did you by chance spill anything on the keyboard in the past? What language do you have installed for use on your OS? There are quite a number of possible reasons. But the beginning of the solution, normally begins with the diagnosis, and thus we shall start with these questions http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/happy.gif

Please note, that when i say each individual key earlier, i mean TAKE OUT THE KEYS! Do not attempt to wash them on the keyboard with washing up liquid. That could be disastrous.

Ahh, cool. But is that seriously ok anyway? I mean, just look at the keyboard without it's panel. O_o;;

You can clearly see a circuit board, and i'm pretty sure that regardless of the temperature the water will eventually screw that circuit board up one way or another. I think i shall stick to using an adhesive on the keyboard surface on a cloth, and water for the keys themselves thanks =P

well i can suggest something but its probably to late(probably soaked into the board so its too late)

if something like soda ever spills onto your key board , unplug it as fast as you can and put it under a sink with clean water cleaning the soda out, let it sit for like a week to ensure that its dry (the water is better than soda and shouldnt hurt)

this must be done immediatly to work

that was damn sad. Poor guy messing up his keyboard. Almost as funny as the guy who melted his processor.
