Wow that would be cool to see Naruto in the US as long as they had a way to dub it over really well, but they of course dont want to use the money which is sad but thats great for the Phillipens I hope they do the change over well.

A good English dub of it would be great. I don't understand japanese so all I'm doing now is reading the words. I guess most of you understand Japanese or something you're all always like "American voice actors don't make the effort to properly convey emotions” I don't understand japanese so as far as I know they could be having some heart felt emotional moment and they are saying everything sarcastically…..I don’t know if Chinese and Japanese are similar or not, but my ex gf is chinese. She told me if you were to directly translate a sentence from Chinese it would seem out of order, and the emphasize on certain words would be different. If they are similar in this sense you would really need a good understanding of Japanese and its culture just to understand the verbal intention of portrayed emotions. I’m surprised so many of you bother to download subbed versions of Naruto and not just get the raw version. I mean after all they “Americanize” the subs which kind of makes it dirty no?

if you don&#39;t speak japanese then how do you know they are even conveying emotions properly? For all you know they are doing it far worse then any English dub? I don’t know… Just because they yell loudly and screech their voice doesn’t mean they’re doing an amazing job, maybe you just think they are because you don’t know what they are saying?? If I understood Japanese I would know one way or the other. So for me it’s between reading what they are saying and guessing the emotions or (hopfully) getting to hear a dub in english or spanish in the future. Ya hopfully they won’t use crappy voices or out of place accents. Love hina comes to mind…

I have a friend who is kinda freaky about anime he refuses to watch anime that’s been dubbed, but he doesn’t speak a word of Japanese. He’s like “its art and it shouldn’t be altered”, but it’s already altered your reading subs of it… and the wording has been changed around because a direct translation would seem like broken English. About a month ago I went over his house and he was watching escaflowne ( subbed) with the sound off because he said the voices were to annoying…. Hehe so really I think he’s just being pigheaded.

well from personal experience i would say that the way you enjoy an anime all depends like um....let me see if i can explain any better. when i was young i used to watch anime in spanish ex: dragon ball, dbz, dbgt, saint seiya, um...mikami ghost hunter? or something like that. and i have to say that i loved them. then i heard them in english and i was like bleh, i also heard the a jap version one with subs once...bleh again. so the first language/form you see an anime is the way you end up likeing it. hope i made some sort of sense http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/tongue.gif

.... Naruto did not get licensed ever, but the animators kept making episodes forever, they were only available on fansub and broadcasting in Japan... im pretty sure not most of us understand japanese, but you say if i don&#39;t understand it then i don&#39;t know if they are conveying emotions or not. you may have a point but their voice + the sub makes it look like they are conveying emotions because even though we don&#39;t know what they mean there&#39;s the sub at the bottom. And also the expressions on the face of the anime characters themself tells us if they display emotions or not. F.e. *scene*naruto getting angry*scene* Example Sub:&quot;i don&#39;t let my friends die&#33;&quot;, animation: naruto pissed off. lol i think TFC is an american station they got like abs-cbn and some other stations over there, tfc is like, they put all those stations and bring it over here.(US)

yeah, some parts can have just as much of an emotional impact on those of us who dont know japanese as those who do. We know whats goin on cause of the subtitles, and we can still sense the emotion in the characters in the way they talk and act

So if most of you don&#39;t understand the spoken Japanese language, and you’re just using the universal body language and facial expressions to understand how the text presented should be interpreted… Then why do so many of you insist that they are all amazing voice actors? This is just a question out of curiosity.

I’ve seen quite a few people say things like the english, and Spanish voice actors don’t give a damn, and do horrible jobs.. If you don’t understand what they are saying then how do you know that the Japanese voice actors are doing any better? I was just wondering if this is one of those times when people just fall in line and assume something is better because it’s different, and they don’t understand. The grass is always greener? Or is there a different reason?

Admittedly quite a few of the Spanish and English voiceovers I’ve heard haven’t been all that great, I’d say 30% have been bad 70% good, but I understand these languages so I know whether they’re good or bad.

I agree with you 100% It all depends on what you see first.

I don&#39;t like watcing dubbed episodes of shows I first watched subbed, and I don&#39;t like watching subbed episodes of shows I first watched dubbed.

I do think it makes a big difference in movies. Live action movies should never be dubbed. The sound doesn&#39;t match up with the picture, and it is very obvious. With animated shows though this is not a problem. Sounds and lip movements are not coordinated very well anyway. It is impossible to read a cartoons lips...

thats cool, even tho im in the US right now, im enjoying d/l anbu subs better than translated dub. I do remember looooong time ago when yuyu hakusho (ghost fighter) was really popular in PI and was in tagalog, that was good.

You don't have to exactly understand the language to know if the seiyuu/voice actor is good or not. The whole point is to understand the emotions that they are trying to convey. If you can understand them or get a feel of them without even understanding exactly what they are saying, then I think they are doing a pretty good job at voice acting and getting the feelings across.
I also don't argree when it was said that you naturally like the first version you see. First of all everyone is different so that would vary second of all, I first watched anime in English, and to be honest in the beginning I would stay away from subs, but when I first saw Bishoujyo Senshi Sera Muun anime in Japanese, that's when I really got into anime and from then on was always in Japanese.
I think that's good that the Phillipines are going to get Naruto, even though I'm not Phillipino, but I"m sure there will people that like that language's dub and some that don't, cause that's always how it will be.
