I am just wondering where yall learned how to do all this, and what yall use. I have the most up to date photoshop but i know S%$# about how to use it properly.

I use Photoshop CS2 exclusively. The learning curve is pretty long and the learning curve for techniques is even longer. But don't worry. If you're enthusiastic about learning then it'll come naturally with time. If Photoshop is not your cup of tea, don't force it upon yourself.

I wouldnt say it isnt my cup of tea, it is just the fact i havnt had any time yet to really look into it. the only thing i have used it for sofar are to make the images for the website i created for a now defunct TeamSpeak server. and, if you're up for a challenge, making it fit somehow with this Ramza image would be above and beyond the call of duty. I couldn't even get these two images to blend right, since the colors in them are so opposite... Anytime I got them in the same 400x100 space it just looked, well, like two pics jammed together...

so yeah, that would be great. i'll make another attempt on this sig myself tonight, but, yeah, i seem to suck at photoshop after being away from it for the past 5 or so months...

The render in the dark one looks like it gave ya a bit of trouble.
In the awesome version above though, the lightings perfect for the render.
Ya gave it simplicity and like Shuurai said, elegance. Damned fine work on the first.

The second just doesn't give me any sparks though.:( But i'm pretty sure thats because of the render. A+ work.:cool:

Well, interestingly enough, I didn't even know the picture was from a game until I was getting a friend to critique the sig, and he was impressed that I was making a Valkyrie Profiles sig but I had to admit that I really knew nothing about it at all. I was just staring at the render and I was like......."Mountain!" The second one, well, the end result is nothing like I envisioned when I started it, hehe. It just morphed a little bit more every time I came back to it.

I'm really happy to help out. Making sigs for myself is kinda boring, and I don't often have sufficient motivation to make anything. It's way more fun making sigs for other people :D

Just got a new phone and I want to put something better than the crap provided for me as the wallpaper. Dimensions have to be around 320x174 (320x204 is the true max but the top and bottom have semi transparent banners over them and won't be fully visible. I need something 160x90 for the front if anyone wants to do a portrait kind of thing.

C.C from Geass would be my model of choice, but something with Balalaika from Black Lagoon would also be nice.

Hi guys long time since i posted on these forums, but one thing i always enjoy is looking through the art forums and seeing peoples fancy sigs and avatars. Of course i have no skill whatsoever in making this kind of stuff for myself, and im in need of a banner for my wow guilds forum.... any takers? I know its not exacltey anime since you wont really find much wow in anime style out there, but any kind of banner will do as long as it contains the name "Blazefury Clan" or alternativley the initials BFC. We are a horde guild so please tailor it to that situation and if you can find any pics of famous horde characters that look good to put in thats more than fine with me :P

Maybe giving a bigger font to the first letter of each word (plus the R and Z on my nick) will do the work without changing size. Although Im still not really sure on font and color.

I really like the Gundam. It'd look better with the mech more defined though IMO. Makes the light less dominating.

I think what it needs is a bit of contrast. Keep the intensity where it's brightest (or even make it a touch more bright), and less intense in places like the face and darker bits on the far left. That may make the face look cleaner, and more depth to the light, rather than it simply being there, all over, if you know what I mean.

Hope that was helpful criticism. I really like the concept, and what you've done with it so far.

I checked the stock, and Belldandy's not translucent like she is in the sig. It gives her an ethereal appearance compared to the solidly coloured Keichi. I like it :)

Actually, the only places that are truly translucent are the edges of her scarf. The rest is a combination of lighting, selective colour filters, and the dodge/burn tool.

I'll try to hunt around for the render without the background later tonight but I don't know if I will be able to or not. Hopefully the relatively simple gradient background will make cutting easier if I can't find it.

For colors I prefer cooler colors, blues, purples, and greens. In this case I think a blueish theme would be nice but I would have never thought of brown with the render you used on your newest sig so I'm not too confident in my judgment.

As for style I'm not much of a designer or artistic things but one thing about style I can come up with from looking at the sigs of the posters above is I prefer 'larger' background structures (comparing to the tight lines that take up a lot of the left of your sig to the more abstract background structures of most of the other sigs on this page). I like the abstract nebulous background structures like clouds in KitKat's or the cogs in Archangel's. Musical symbols in the background could work for this actually.

Is there any way to add a bit more depth/detail to Hei? He's drawn pretty flat/simplistically in the anime anyway, so I'm not really expecting anything different. Maybe I'm just spoilt by my current.

And since I was talking about depth, the darker one felt better. It's more moody, while the lighter one was more clean, which felt a bit inappropriate for a character like Hei.

I really liked how you've made the green theme consistent for both sig and avatar. It really makes them match despite being two different characters/shows. If fact, it's subtle enough that they're a matching-difference (man my vocab suck).

There's a little sadness(or is it reluctance?) in "shelving" my current set, since I still like them and haven't tired of them yet, but a fresh set befits the coming of Darker than Black 2. I shall start using it.

edit: I just remembered that both characters wear "opera" masks when they go into assassin mode. How fitting.

While there is the fact that DTB2 is coming out soon, the main reason I used Hei for Buff's sig is because I simply cannot imagine any other character to replace him with. It seems that in my head, Buff actually looks like Hei or something. I guess that is the effect of keeping a sig for very long, something I probably won't experience considering my propensity to change sigs and avatars regularly.
