Well, photoshop is SUPPOSED to be purchased, but it's very expensive. I think if you're using it as a learning, experimenting tool, then getting a free copy isn't so morally wrong http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/tongue.gif

You can download it off of kazaalite easy enough, or most other filesharing programs. Also, i'm pretty sure that Adobe has a trial on their website....not positive though.

I think you've improved the shika sig, Zero, I like the change in the text, and the addition of another image... I think having just the hint of color in the face on the right makes it more interesting than a plain monochrome sig.

narushika, find and post about 5 high quality shika images that you want in a sig and one of us will make you one.

By high quality, I mean: large in size and not too grainy, no .gifs or .bmps, .jpg or .png are best.

Tell us what kind of feel/color theme you want and any quotes you want on it, and when you give us images we'll get started.

image ready is what u use to make animated effects in a sig after its primary construction is finished, you use good ole regular photoshop for the primary construction of ur sig.

Exactly right-- photoshop is used to do things like cut out your images of characters from their background and put them together with layers, filters and textures to get the overall &quot;look&quot; of the sig.

You then just open your photoshop file in ImageReady and use it to make pieces of your image animate. If you&#39;re not making a sig with animation, you don&#39;t need to use it at all.

Edit: Photoshop 6 is quite good, but 7.0 has some really neat tools like the healing brush that 6 doesn&#39;t have, and CS (i.e. 8) has some great color matching utilities that allow you to easily match the colors in two different images (though I haven&#39;t really used that function yet it can definately come in handy when you&#39;re putting images together from a variety of sources.)

I like it, but the text looks a little jaggy. Make sure antialiasing is turned on..in your palette with the text tool selected it&#39;s the &#39;aa&#39; drop down menu.

Your cutouts also look a bit jaggy, esp. the curse seal. Go around with a soft eraser or blur tool and GENTLY touch only the edges of the cutouts to soften this problem.


I&#39;m not sure what that repeating background is supposed to be, what is it?

Otherwise, very nice first attempt.

Jpegs aren&#39;t animated..that&#39;s why we use .gifs&#33; http://forums.gotwoot.net/html/emoticons/tongue.gif
You have to add the gif into the sig in ImageReady and export as a .gif format...photoshop will not keep its animation.

In terms of filesharing, I really like Direct Connect, the best client I have found is DC++.

Photoshop and ImageReady come bundled together, usually. CS is the most recent version.

Paint Shop Pro is used by some people, but it doesn't have all the features and flexibilty that Photoshop does.

Really, for sig editing Photoshop offers everything you need and more. It's a much more powerful program.

if i remember correctly, 5.5 was the version where they first implemented specialized web graphics support......it was more of a ghetto slap-on addition to the version 5 release, and 6 was DEFINITELY an improvement over that. then in 7 they added a few extra brush functions and some fancy filter stuff....maybe layer folders and annotations too, but mostly little things. um.....i forget what 8 had, the version i was using turned out to not be completely cracked, and so it only worked for a limited amount of time

The main difference between 7.0 and CS was a few VERY useful color matching tools which I never really learned to use properly but I'm working on that.

The main addition 7.0 had was the healing brush -- sort of like the clone brush but very usefil for fixing things like red-eye and scratches on photographs. More for hard-core photoediting than graphix work.

6.0 is the earliest back I would go and still call the version a good one. Personally, I use 7.0 at the moment.

when you say color matching tools, you mean like pantones and such?

CS has this really cool utility where you can sample ranges from one image and then use that sample range to automatically adjust a second images colors to be within the same range. So, if I wanted to take a picture of the Kyuubi and make his fur the same color as a rose's petals, and the forest around him the same color as the leaves of the plant, I could do it with a few easy clicks instead of spending hours adjusting levels and curves.

Basically, I redid your old sig that I made you (since it's one of the best ones I've done, IMHO) to fit the new 400x80 layout...moved things around a touch. Since I had all the layers intact on my old photoshop file it was a simple matter.

You don't have to keep it looking exactly like it is, as long as the main picture inside is still in there. I've seen your sigs before and I like them, so I'll trust your judgement, you can do whatever you feel is best. I guess you can have Fallen Angels in for text, since it's from the ep Ballad of Fallen Angels.

I've been posting for a little while, and I was thinking it would be nice to have a sig. I have no skills, so if anyone is feeling generous (or bored) and feels like making one for me I'd be happy and grateful. Really whatever would be fine, but if I could make a request I would like either Naruto looking cute (I'd love one in his nightcap) or my second choice would be either Gaara as a child or Gamakichi. It might have Naruto written in large letters and my name in real tiny letters in on corner. EDIT: Ah, good thing i saved my old sig on my comp! I'll stick with this sig, its still pretty cool. But can anyone tell me where to find images of Haruka Kanata? I think I can handle Photoshop, doesn't seem so hard to understand.

Hey all im a noob with PS but im very willing to learn, and i have picked up a few things. But backgrounds is were i suck at.... i have no idea what im doing with those. Im planing on remakin the sig i have right now (because its bland and boring) i plan to make one with characters from FMA, Naruto, and InuYasha. If anyone has some great pics of Sasuke, Sakura, Inu, Kagome, Ed, Wirny plz post them. And about the background, post any that you guys like as well.
