I use the gordian knot codec pack found here ('http://www.doom9.org'). Using this plus the codecs I listed above for ogm files, I have yet to find any video file I can't play.

I just started a thread on this on Other Support the forum, and then I noticed this. Doh!

Anyway, I've never heard of .ogm (or.mkv) before, so please forgive my ignorance. Is there any way that I can convert .ogm and/or .mkv to .avi, with one set of audio/subs (someone said that .ogm can be multi-audio)?

Also, what sort of quality can I expect from these two file types?

Thanks for any help http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/smile.gif

To play .ogm this is what i do

first I install these files

1. FFdshow: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/ffdshow...03.exe?download ('http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/ffdshow...03.exe?download') (there are other versions, but this is what I use)

2. Vobsub: http://www.filemirrors.com/search.src?file=VobSub_2.23.exe ('http://www.filemirrors.com/search.src?file=VobSub_2.23.exe')

3. Ogg Filter: http://www.vorbis.com/files/1.0/tobias/OggDS0995.exe ('http://www.vorbis.com/files/1.0/tobias/OggDS0995.exe')

3. xvid: http://www.stargeek.com/item/36425.html ('http://www.stargeek.com/item/36425.html')

After I have installed those I open them with Media Player Classic (not windows media player)

Here's the link:
for 2000/XP version: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/guliver...75.zip?download ('http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/guliver...75.zip?download')

for 9x/ME version: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/guliver...75.zip?download ('http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/guliver...75.zip?download')

And that's it

There may be newer versions of the programs

The quality is very good

Ogm files tend to be super high quality.

You can convert ogm to avi files by using one of the programs found here ('http://www.doom9.org').

Cheers, Villin.

There seems to be quite a bit of choice regarding this encoder thing on Doom9. Which one do I need, as one seem to say 'ogm to avi converter'? http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/smile.gif

Thanks again.

i would of done it earlier but you know school computers hace blocking crap and other stuff that would keep me from doing it

It can be done. I know of several people who dislike ogm files so they converted them to avi. You are right that it is very time consuming and troublesome(so i've been told). The quality does drop but not by a great deal.

What kind of player do you have?

sangai
Wed, 02-11-2004, 01:12 PM
you need ogg vorbis video codec there very hard to find
and one other one

i can tell you more as soon as im on my computer i have the codecs

ill get back to you on where to find the codecs

but whats cool about ogm files if the anime is in english you can switch it to japanese and back and forth or add subtitles those are some of the options

but when you do get the ogg vorbis codec when you try to open it hold the shift key and right click tell it to open with windows media player always for these types of files and that should work

ok let me try this again youll need the "ogg vorbis codec" and i think one other codec to play ogm files

when i get home i will find out where i got them and tell you, cause they are very hard to find if there small enough ill find a way to send or upload them

there are cool features with ogm files that allow you to change the language with a click of a button if that option is available same with subtitles

No need to wait my good man here is what you need:

ffdshow
OggDS0995
SubtitDS
Vobsub

Also, bsplayer is the easiest player to use with ogm files. Enjoy. http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif
