You've got until I check this thread next or until someone even less patient than I comes along to close this thread to tell me what the heck you're talking about.

LAN = Local Area Network.
There are many stores that host super elite computers and charge for players to come in and play on them. Sometimes, professional clans will rent the place for tournaments and matches.
As for myself, there is one near my house, but I don't go often.

Lan=Local Area Network.A lot of cities have game contests where you play on a lan network.The look at it go,wtf.That's completely irrelavent to LAN's.
Anyways.I've never been to one,but my friends have.I was thinking of getting a lan if I get another pc.

I'm sure people know what LANs are, the thing is that the way Squibble puts it makes it sound like a bunch of giberish

No not really. There's a place in my town called digital ops and it has like a bunch of shit hooked up to a network but i've only been once. I'm not really into that kinda stuff and neither are most of my friends so....... i'll just stick to online gaming. http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I'm braindead today. Sorry everyone.
We had a LAN "store" (well, a comp store than had weekly LAN parties) near my house.. but I never went. My boyfriend goes almost once a year.. His bro gets an 18 port thingie and they have a small party.

Who said it's restricted to going to designated stores or centers? I have a lan group, we take turns to host at our houses, everyone brings over their pcs, usually lasts for about 3 or 4 days. It's good fun, and lots of leeching gets done too. I usually walk away with a tonne of anime to watch.

Same here, cept ours would only last a day, or two if it's really good.
We see it as a good chance to leech stuff, and hardly ever play any games. Most of the time we're not even on the computers; we'd b on the booze, round back.

Yep, there's a lotta kool ppl. I know this one dude from the CS community that's 29, bulky as, married, has 2 kids and a job as a computer technician.
I've been mates with him for about nearly a year now, and this guy is one of the koolest people i've met. Even though there's a big age difference, he's a feller that isnt really different from the rest of us teens.
He's like an inspiration lol. I hope im half as kool as he is when im his age http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/mf_laughbounce2.gif

I've got a 25 port 10/100mbps switch i've named "EL SMASHO!" Hes the best switch ever, nice rack mounted setup some dude sold me out of the back of a uhaul for way cheaper then it should be. I've hosted numerous LANS using that as the center for it. Btw Freelancer multiplayer consumes your soul stay far far away

Yeah, I'm going to one this weekend. Texas Gaming Festival. About 1000 people going with a $5000 Counter-Strike Tournament, $1000 Halo tournament, and lots of others. I personally plan on walking away with $500 from the Super Smash Bros Tournament. For any of you who can remember from the Games Forum, I said I would eventually compete in this game.
So yeah, LANs are fun. I host a few myself every year, but we're talking small scale with my friends. http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/happy.gif
