If FMA were ever liscensed, I already have a list of at least 20 other anime that I would be interested in spending money on. Even while its available on fansub, there are at least five other anime that I eagerly await releases on and place above FMA.

More than anything else this show annoys me because of its pseudo-science base. You aren't supposed to expect much reality being represented in an anime, but when they set up their own laws and then go against them, it ticks me off. I've suffered through arguments online with people saying they always have the limitation of "Equivilent Trade". I've only seen it used appropriately once in the series, the initial attempt at reviving their mother. Everything else is foolish. Rearranging equivelant amounts of matter, but almost effortlessly, and ignoring any Energy or Entropy involved in the process is not equivelant.

I was a chemistry major for a year and some of the earliest roots of chemistry go back to the greuling history of alchemy. I'm ticked off to see it abused so much.

its anime
and its alchemy, their alchemy isn't our alchemy.
once again its an anime.
this is like the only series that seems original.
they go against their own law. I don't know if they wil achieve it, but thats the fun part about it.

as said before, FMA seems like it will be remembred as an avarge anime more than anything else.
sure, i started out great, but the third episode and above were'nt as good at the first two, and they don't seem to be showing any improvement, it's an avarge anime, just like Flame of Recca and so many others...

if you want something that shows some real potenital, go for Gilgamesh, Chrno Crusade and PMK, they might be slow, but at least i can see them going somewhere that's not: "this stone isn't good enough, it can do super alchemy only a limited amount of time, we need the real stone that doesn't even exist!".

besides, since the "ed's first battle incedent" and "doctor i kill my own family", we didn't see any character devlopment...

yeah, kurogane is alternating between "lighthearted teenage humor" and "limitless endless darkness" so fast now that I'm having trouble telling them apart http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/wink.gif.

Though the "cute girl" factor only really consists of Saya and that girl who's not cut out to be a ninja... but I think she left ....

Then it does also have the Holy Shit! Ninjas ('http://www.somethingawful.com/inserts/articlepics/photoshop/boardgames/fookoof-ninjas.jpg') appeal to it. Might fit the bill, but it's a little slow too.

Love Hina and Azumanga Diaoh for comedy and cute Girls

If you really liked Chobits I would recommend Love Hina first and foremost (more perverse), I think KAA has DVD torrents still active

For action / comedy (similar to Naruto)
Cowboy Bebop
Trigun
Full Metal Panic.

Again I think KAA has the dvd torrents active. Just go to downloadanime.org or the-easy-tiger.net to find the torrents since its licensed stuff. However I highly recommend you buy them since they are that good (if your to poor, buy the manga atleast then, makes good bed reading material IMO)

If you want more comedy then action go watch Full Metal Panic? Fumuffo

FMA is a good series so far, no complaints so far but it would be close to the bottom of my top 10 list IMO

I don't like Full Metal Alchemist and wouldn't recommend it. I'm still watching it in the lulls between the anime that I like, but its only about average.

If you want humor + a girl + an OK story, I'd suggest Love Hina. Its got plenty of the humor and girls, and the story is only OK, doesn't really get good at any points.

If you want Ninja and blood, watch the movie Ninja Scroll. I don't think I've found any other Ninja series or movies that are worthwhile.

first off Peace Maker Kurogane is utter trash its the most boring thing I've ever watched after 18 episodes its still not going ANYWHERE.

Now Full Metal Alchemist is quite good I'd highly recommend it as for the whole where the energy comes from I'd imagine the alchemists body but thats just me.

Love Hina is great but having seen that few anime's it won't be as funny as it plays on differn't types of anime.

Full Metal Panic S1 is great up until about episode 7 then they do a total 360 its still good but nowhere near as much fun. S2 is Comidic gold you won't be disappointed if you need a laugh.

my #1 pick for you though would be One Piece its LONG as in close to 200 episodes and still going. There are only 2 movies a TV special and 81 episodes with good subtitles though you can get other ones in pretty terrible quality. find them at http://www.kaizoku-fansubs.com/torrent/ ('http://www.kaizoku-fansubs.com/torrent/')

You also may enjoy HunterXHunter as its very much along the lines of Naruto.

Oh and as for ROD aka Read or Die unless you want to watch 3 librarians duke it out with there powers to control paper against historical figures I highly recommend death over watching this.

Comedy wise (can take Chobits place great):

Love Hina (classic, though some could argue, really just watch 1st 2 episodes and you can decide yourself I guess)
Great Teacher Onizuka (my favourite comedy to date)
Onegai Teacher/Twins
Maburaho
Yumeria
Azumanga Daioh (HAHAHAHA I still ring quotes from this one)

If your gonna go for something more heavy/dark I like Noir (I wonder why) and Gunslinger Girl.

I guess i'll be the odd ball an give my two cents. I think that Green Green is the funniest i have ever seen. It has some perversion......but its a VERY VERY GOOD COMEDY! I'm sure there will be some people who will agree with me. An to top it off its 12 episodes long.. so its good....I hope you consider it........ http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/mf_w00t1.gif

The problem with PMK is its SLOW very very very very slow. Also I dispise the beginning and the ending which is about 75% pig ass. It just doesn't go anywhere a normal anime might go 13 episodes of random action and just fun stuff. PMK after 18 remains with a plot that hasn't started at all it feels VERY long. None of the characters are really gaining much they are just kind of going from episode to episode with no direction. At first I liked it there were many promissing aspects and I agree that there is a LOT of blood when they do a battle... The Battles however are about as important as a bad pun they don't really have them and when they do its less then a minute. Its just like lets kill a few people now back to the pig. I personally do hate the pig thats my biggest pet pieve. My reason the series is bad is because while I fully agree there is promise to it nothing happens in atleast 75% of the episodes and were at 18 I don't know how long it will be but judging by the very mixed reaction I can't imagine its popular enough for a very long run.

How could you forget FULL METAL PANIC FUMOFFU!
Oh wait, not much of a story. It has girls and LOTS OF COMEDY, though.
All you have to see to understand it is the intro of Episode 1, which explains that Sagara Sousuke grew up a guerilla fighter and is having quite a bit a trouble at his modern Japanese high school due to the fact he knows nothing about social life and can't tell the difference between the battlefield and the classroom.
You'll have to get it fansubbed. Search "full metal panic fumoffu" on anime.mircx.com. Its only 15 episodes.

FULL METAL PANIC FUMOFFU!
Full Moon
Yawara
Azumanga daioh

on a personal note, i'd like to recommend "Hikaru No Go" and "Green Green"

but why limit yourself to 2 animes? i'm usually watching 10 at a time.

**its my first post so bear with its simplicity**
