Way. And she looks like the AppleSeed character from the manga too, which is good. Because the original AppleSeed movie was screwed up and didn't follow the manga at all, not even with the character looks.
Looking forward to this. http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/happy.gif
Edit:
For a much more complete video clip of AppleSeed as well as it just being a lot better overall, go the website link and click on "trailer" and choose one of the top 3 options presented, depending on your connection.
1Mbit Trailer:
Here ('http://www.a-seed.jp/trailer/asx/apple_y_1000.asx').
500Kbps Trailer:
Here ('http://www.a-seed.jp/trailer/asx/apple_y_500.asx').
250Kbps Trailer:
Here ('http://www.a-seed.jp/trailer/asx/apple_y_256.asx').
btw, if you have a slow connection, i wouldn't go for the 250 one. It just dosn't do it any justice, i would go for the 500 and let Media Player buffer it all. It's worth the wait in the end http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/happy.gif

I guess it is pretty popular. Correct me if I am wrong, but its by the same guy who does Ghost in the Shell right? Masamune Shirow I think his name is.

I've known about this for about 8 months now. Already got the trailer, and it looks brilliant.
It's made using some game graphics engine that's commonly used on the PS2. Can't think what it's called offhand.
A few answers for the above:
Yep, done by Masamune Shirow, of GITS fame.
It's a movie.
60 bucks? I picked all of mine up at the local comic shop for about £10-15 a piece (yep, I'm British http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/smile.gif)
The first movie was good. I think the characters looked like they do in the manga, but with some extra hair fluffage on Deunan.
Looking at the trailer(s), it looks as if this will be a stand alone film, as it seems to be set out in Badlands, where about only 5% of the manga was set.
You can buy the trailers (a set of 4, I think) on DVD in Japan, and each one comes with a limited edition figure. Can't find any, though.
I'm just keeping my fingers crossed for the live action Evangelion. Woo! http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/smile.gif

The live action version of NGE was already released, but wasn't completed. I think the project was abandoned, and the part they did can be found in the "Revival of Evangelion Extras". I have this, both DVD versions, but they're in Japanese only so i can't understand any of it. Just so you know =P
*ahem*
I have one of the Manga's for appleseed, cost be about £8.99 or something, and i loved it straight away. Haven't been able to find any others myself. I really hope they release a series that follows the Manga very closely indeed, that would be cool http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/happy.gif

Yeah, if you watch the demo's it's totally different to the old one they made. I hated the old Appleseed movie, it totally sucked.

Well, Appleseed was a good movie IMO.. I was not THAT great that i can compete with Akira or Macross Plus but still it was a good movie..
Butit looked to me that this new movie is going to much better graphics.. And we can always hope for a better story to..

What Eva live action is this? Can I find it on the 'Net anywhere?
I'm talking about the new one that should be out in 2005 or 2006. The guys running the show are Gainax (inc Hideaki Anno), ADV, and Weta Digital. Things should get off the ground when Weta have finished King Kong, Jackson's next pet project (why oh why?!).
No idea about script yet, but hopefully it will be a remake of part of the series/films, or some sort of decent tie-in. As for cast, your guess is as good as mine. I'd like to see Richard Dean Anderson as Fuyutsuki, and Michelle Tractenberg (dawn from Buffy) as Asuka, and I'm sure Amanda Winn Lee will get her face in their somewhere, possibly as Ibuki.
Still, finger crossed.

I love going back over old threads, don't you? No? It's not just me, then http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/smile.gif
I happen to have Appleseed on DVD. When it was first released (on DVD) at my local MVC, it was sat in their Top 10 chart for about a month. The fact that it said 'Masamune Shirow' on the front was enough for me to buy it (when it was in the sales, of course http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/wink.gif)
Next, you have to remember that Akira is a monument to modern anime (even if it does lack a lot from the books - I read in a magazine at my local comic shop that if the movie of Akira included everything in the books, it would be 2 months long. Not quite sure how accurate that is, but I reckon it could be feasible).
Anyway, back to the point. Appleseed was made about 2 years before Akira, and hence in Japan was a big hit, as they didn't have Akira to compare it to. Akira quickly got dubbed and released in the US, with Appleseed lagging behind. Suddenly, everyone was comparing all anime to Akira, even if it was made before said movie. This happened with Appleseed. Most people, when watching films, only care about when they see it, not when it was made (I've fallen at this hurdle before) (for example, I think that SAC is far superior to GitS in terms of animation, character development, etc, but GitS still holds the best storyline, especially if you read the manga).
This means that Appleseed as a film is treated poorly. Too poorly, in my opinion. Just watch it as a film in it's own right, and try not to compare it with the masterpiece that is Akira.
Here's hoping that the CG version isn't unfairly compared to anything, as that would just ruin it. On the other hand, the live-action Eva has a lot to live up to if it's compared to the anime http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/smile.gif.
This is not a dig at anyone. I'm simply re-stating things that are said on the Appleseed DVD commentary. These are opinions, so feel free to ignore them if you want.
Lastly, if Hiroshi is reading this, I can send you some scans of the live-action Eva that I've got in an issue of Newtype. If anyone else wants a copy, drop me a message.
