I don't know why I keep on downloading the newer episodes. NOTHING interesting ever happens. Anyone have any idea how many episodes are planned on being made?

as the other topic refers to where to find episodes I am unlocking this topic as this is a topic about how this anime has nothing interesting EVER happen. I completely agree this anime bores the hell out of me as they just never seem to do a thing every episode your like this should be good and it always disappoints maybe a season or 2 from now it could have a chance of making me care.

It would have made sense to let the longer thread with the posts full of discussion and not general bellyaching stay open, since that's where most of the information is.... http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/dry.gif
Anyway, I guess here's a nice recap of what I gleaned from the other thread. There were rumours about it being 24 or 26.. or even 52. Someone suggested that it would be about Rurouni Kenshin length, because it was taking a nice casual route.. a lighthearted episode, an episode that contains story, a couple of mixed episodes, and so on. And that, though anyone who's seen it prolly already knows, it's based loosely off of actual events in Japan's history.
My personal thing is, I like it. I wish they would give us more story than the little tidbits they use to entice us... but I don't mind it. Even the episodes that have nothing to do with the story at all are funny as heck and don't feel out of place...

I agree with that the serious is a total mystery..
its good for a few laughs but in 16 episodes almost NOTHING happened.. and wassup with all the gayish ppl.. BTW NO OFFENCE to the homosexual. But it sometimes seems there is more homos that heteroes in PMK http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/dry.gif

I like the comedy in PMK even if nothing happen in a ep its very funny.
Tatsu killed me when he get angry cause Tetsu went to the funhouse:D
I have watched a lot of anime the last couple of monts but never a anime with so many great characters. Just think how good it will get when the story starts to move;)
I like the Saitou in PMK but i must say that the Saitou in Kenshin was cooler and looked cooler than the one in PMK

You mean the people who looked feminine?
My understanding was in Japan's history some famous killers looked like women at first glance.
I guess it was a style back then. But I don't like it.

They didnt close the thread because we where talking about where to get PMK, on the contrary, they closed it because the thread was off-topic... originally it was a thread of where to find PMK but we went off-topic and started discussing the anime instead

Dude, I've seen 16, and I say it's getting better. They've finally added a plot element from that one crazy dude that's going to last more than one episode long.. and we (hopefully) will get to know more about him and those involved with that plot...
There's more, but I don't think I've got my facts totally in order at the moment (Just woke up http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/mf_laughbounce2.gif ).. but, yeah. http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/smile.gif Looks like the next few episodes will be good.

I really doubt it would end at 24... we'are just about to start the revolution... and on top of that there are still more things to be developed...

I've been watching this for the past week and am caught up now.
At first I was extremely annoyed at how Tetsu acts. I mean he's 15, not 11. Anyway, I got over it, especially since he started getting better about it. The gay-factor also bothered me at first, but then I didn't care. Now I just think its funny. The story also shows great promise to me. If it is cut short I will be quite upset because this has worked its way up towards the top of my most looked forward to episodes list. http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/mf_gap.gif

Yeah but look at the fact we've got, there haven't been a 'BIG' thing yet, it probably is some kind of unserious anime, that they make just for fun and not give a damn about the story, i think the following episodes will be the same as the 19 episodes so far, nothing have actually happend, i wonder why i'm still watching it?
I want to see more of Saitou and the choshu's..

Itachi you are pretty good with japanese history it seems. When did the revolution begin and end. The name of the emporer then?
itachi_
Wed, 03-17-2004, 11:07 AM
Er?? what revolution?
The tokugawa family became shoguns in 1604, four years after the battle of Seikigahara, and they ruled until 1868, when a young man called Meiji was choosen to become Japan's new emperor..
And between 1864 and 1868 there was a some wars, one of them called the boshin wars etc, Shinsengumi was choosed to protect the shogun in Kyoto, that was their purpose, but shinsengumi was founded in 1863, and ended in 1868. Right after the battle at Ikedaya all went down for shinsengumi, with the politics etc, the chooshu had began moving and in that time, the last days(more like years) of the edo-era (1604-1868) was called bakumatsu.
well buy/download a movie called "When the last sword is drawn" (don't know the japanese title) then you'll get alot of facts, and it's a great movie also.

Man, how can they not make PMK any longer than 24 eps... It's so great.

Sat, 03-20-2004, 08:14 PM
They could have done more episodes, they were at 1864 and shinsengumi remained until 1868, so... wtf
PSJ
Sun, 03-21-2004, 08:01 AM
but if it ends at 24 eps there will be some stuff unfinished right? what happened to that okita look-alike and Suzu probably wants to kill tetsu, the least they can do is have a fight between suzu and tetsu. at least have the show 26 eps and end it after tetsu's and suzu's fight.
itachi_

The Okita look-alike was killed... that was rather strange though, he came in one episode and died in the same, he was unneccesarily

he died? i thought that the other faggot was the only one that died.... this anime is strange they just keep bringing in characters and finish them of in an instant.. if they didnt have all the humour in the begining it could have been a great series, now its down to good.

Mon, 03-22-2004, 02:40 PM
The series could have began at the ikeyada and end in 1868, like boshin wars, more wars against the imperalists, not like this, end at the ikeyada

yea that would be good.
as a sidenote, i saw that movie "the last sword is drawn" it was quite good, entertaining-wise and info-wise but in production skills it wasnt that good. it could have been alot better.
itachi_
Mon, 03-22-2004, 05:31 PM
You learn alot from it atleast I do, And it's interesting... What do you mean "quite good", it kicked ass, if you're as obsessed with shinsengumi as I am ;P seriously it was very good.
PSJ

nah it wasnt very good but it was good. if it was better made it could have been awesome.
itachi_
Tue, 03-23-2004, 12:53 PM
Better made?, what was less good about it, I think that the actors were very look-alike to the real persons.. the costumes and the area where it was filmed was extremly good... music also.
PSJ
Tue, 03-23-2004, 05:15 PM
yea it was great in those aspects but it was a little to confusing who the main character was. and the had 2 very emotional and possbile endings. 1. when yoshimura was running towards the soldiers 2. when he commited seppuku. and there were to much chit-chat between yoshimura and himself before he commited seppuku. it was bad to waste those moments like that. and some other small things but i dont have the time to write them.

Well I have read about this that the so called emperor archieved the power of Japan in 1868, Meiji Restoration, but what's the difference between a Shogun (Warlord) and a emperor both are like fidel castro, one man one power..? can anyone explain a lil' bit further..
I feel really strong about this movie, I always start to cry at the end, it's unbelieveable, I don't usually cry of movies but in this case it's special.

I believe the emperor is a spiritual leader as well. TThus during teh shogunate he didn't have his political powers but remained as the spiritual leader. kinda like the pope.
The shogun was simply a dictator.

Damn this series could've been so great, WHY!? did this anime end like this, in this episode and most others they just switched from character to character and nothing really happend, they said something about a choshu guy escaped to some place, they could've killed him, etc, all the characters, what happend and suzu the white-haired guy what happend he just sat there...
The only good thing with this episode was when that american-influence guy tried to sing the star spangled banner, LOL
Man this series, COULD'VE been the best one, but it ended up like this, this is sad, i'm crying!!!!!!
They started scenes that still dosen't got an answer, to many things that still need to be revealed but yet didn't

I actully liked the ending. I know they left a lot of issues unresolved (suzu especially) but it was nice to see Tetsu finally get accpetance, and tatsu come to terms with it. Plus the bit with Saya was touching.
I still dunno what the point was of the American Obssessed Samurai. Tho :/ Maybe I'll find the manga and they'll have more.
What's really sad is that reading up on history you know things are gonna go bad for the Shinsengumi from this point onwards. Okita dies soon, and the rest will go down fighting i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif

from what I read most of the core members died. Saitou was the only one who really lived to a ripe old age and was successful.
Yamanami san gets assasinated by Okita after he tried to run away (Hijikata's Orders), Kondou San and Hijikata San both KIA. Don't know what happend to Sano or Shinpachai:/ I haven't read anything about the Ichimura bros. or Susumu so I guess they are fictitious. Course my info is the net and mostly seems fan sites so who knows:/

I can be almost 100 % sure about that the "ichimura" brothers weren't real living people, however I think that there was someone like kanichiro Yoshimura (Mibu gishi den) aka when the last sword is drawn", Kondou was assassinated not killed in action, he was killed by some choshu guy. but as you said hijikata was killed in action, hmm I thought that yamanami wasen't the real name of the vice-chief, did okita killed him? where did you read that?
EDIT: I didn't actually know that Japan had an emperor at the same time as a shogun, but he had no power back then..

Its sad story cause it was in the middle of wars and the shinsengumsi was protecting the "old" japan.
But at least the samurai was in controll for 600-700 years before the they lost their controll over japan.

He's right about the Yaminami thing. Also, i think Kondou was assassinated after the shogun resigned. (So at that time the shinsengumi were considered as outlaws)
The shinsengumi was disbanded after the boshin wars. I'm pretty sure Hijikata, Shinpachi, Saitou, and Sanosuke all survived that. Hijikata and sanosuke died shortly after and Shinpachi and saitou lived to like 70.

You know yamanami-san in PMK, that guy with googles, that dosen't wield a katana, he died in 1865, one year after the anime ending, he was ordered by hijikata to commit seppuku in 1865...
Damn this thing with the tokugawa, shogun and shinsengumi is really intresting.

I just watched the final episode. There's quite a few unanswered questions, and a major issue still unresolved(Suzu).
(sigh) This series was a big waste of time.
I suppose there will be a sequel...but I probaly won't watch it.
I wouldn't be so critical of this series...if say, it was set in the modern times at a high school and was just about kids messin around(like Gokusen). But this series is set in a important time in Japan...surely it could have had a much better plot than what PMK had.

Its a fair assesment. I started watching two weeks ago so I didn't have to wait in between the episodes as muchi/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif I really enjoyed the way it was drawn and animated. I thought its way better than most anime I've seen so far. Loved the fighting near the end of the series. Stylish.
I think the thing I like about this series more than the series itself was the fact that its based on the actual history and the characters within really were larger than life type samurai warriors back in the day. Like itachi said its incredibly interesting.

I suppose I would watch the sequel, BUT it would have to have a good saga, and with a lot more excellent fight scenes like in episode 23.
I don't hate the characters of PMK(well, except for that weird guy who got defeated by that flaming arrow). If PMK just had a better story though, it would have had been one of my favorites.

i thought pmk was good, it couldve been better, faster moving, but who cares, this whole thing seems to be an intro to something bigger, if theres a sequel planned i would imagine it'd be more like waht we expected from it, tho i think too many of us were spoiled by kenshin or expecting a kenshin, but i just watch without expectations if its good its good if not, oh well, it really upset me that this was the ending tho cause i wanted to know more first, but i figure when/if this anime picks up in the form of a sequel, which it should after an ending like that, it'd come out really cool, sorta like how i couldnt even stay awake through Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring but when LOTR: Two Towers came out it was great

Go to Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shinsengumi) and search everything you want to, and when you read about shinsengumi like in this case, you can click on the names, to know more about that, if you read all of it, you'll know everything about why yamanami died.
