Yeah, I watched a few weeks ago...the premise of the whole movie was rather stupid, but it didn't need to be very intensive as the movie is just about killing...I enjoyed it..

Read the book. That has a deep story, and is what the first film is about. Its also a million times better than the film, which, for the most part, took the novel, surgically removed the storyline and added a couple of cool scenes that weren't in the book (a certain grenade scene which I won't spoil for those who haven't seen it). However, theres some very cool stuff that in the book thats not in the film...and the book characterises pretty much every character with a short background on almost all of them which is pretty cool.

Thats not to say I don't love the first film (I wouldn't have read the book otherwise) but I could tell from the film that it seemed incomplete so I got the book...

The second film has a much wider story and has a few emotional scenes included as well...plus some more big cheesy speeches (http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/tongue.gif). You used to be able to get it on suprnova but not anymore as they've had problems...

I still prefer the first one though for reasons which I couldn't really go into without spoiling the second film

i'll try my best to explain what its about
in the japanese society where the adults started to fear children, children has lost respect and trusts for adults. they now skip school, and do troublesome things. so a new law was created, the battle royal act. they send a class into a desserted island controlled by the military and the students must kill each other to survive. the winner will be freed.

There is also a 'Reality TV' element to it as well, a pretty funny element is when someone dies it tells you who's died and how many students remaining. There are a couple of funny things in the film regarding how the game is packaged and introduced to the kids in the selected class (the girl in the video is pretty funny).

ive got both battle royale 1, and 2 on DVD (dont ask where from http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif ), and i almost fell asleep during battle royale 2, its so slow, and compared to the 1st 1 its boring and the death scenes arent nearly as moving. + the storyline is crappy
