If alot of people didnt read the manga, there wouldnt be a whole forum on it, bit I dont read manga, first off, I hate reading, second, you dont get the sane action in my opinion, I could go on in detail, but i choose not to

Well lets put it this way.
Manga:
More detailed. Each battle goes screen by screen, No music or voices though but it runs like a animated gif in your mind. No exaggeration of a fight like 10 minute stare downs and inbetween sceens.(A bit, but less then the anime)

Anime:
Intense Fight sceens
Great music and voice acting.

Combats suck in the manga, they look way better in the anime...
The anime also has great music, and color xD
I wouldn't like the manga colored but i wouldn't like the anime B&w ^^
Some things might be a bit better in the manga but i still prefer the anime!
Well one cool thing about it is i can say at least naruto is still great even further in the story, not like hunter x hunter that sucks after manga 17

I&#39;m not sure I can explain why, but characters just look more... serious in the manga. For instance, when Neji tells the story of how his father died and how he got the curse seal during the manga, it was just... wow. Intense&#33; The pain&#33; The suffering&#33;&#33;
When I saw that part in the anime... well, Neji just looked way wussier.

I think its got something to do with Kishimoto&#39;s style. Instead of using the traditional shadowing style that gives the characters a kind of plastic look, the manga uses rough lines to shadow. THey suit the manga perfectly well.

Hey, I&#39;ve got an idea....
Why don&#39;t you anime-only guys go ahead and read one or two chapters of the manga? Only one will not &quot;spoil&quot; much of whats going to happen, and it&#39;d give you a chance to see the manga style in action without knowing whats going to happen beforehand. If you read just one chapter (that&#39;s 20 pages at most) and decide that you still like the anime, well, all the better for you.
But you might just find that you like the manga just as much... or even more&#33; I swear, the grass is real green on our side.

Well, whether you read the manga or not... you are in for one wild ride. Things are going to get... wow =P </td></tr></table><div class='postcolor'>
I&#39;ve read ahead. And yeah, i must say the drawings are nice and all. It looks cool. But nope, i do feel more when i see it all happening. For me, the anime will be great in the part coming up ahead. And i think it will be more intense... One thing i feel is more intense is the fighting spirit, You feel it through the music and also the face expressions and also through hearing Naruto&#39;s or Neji&#39;s voice or whoever it is talking while fighting http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif

I just like the anime better. Around anime ep 44 I found it was going to slow so I downloaded the manga to give me something to do. I read from the start to like chap 90. The manga is just less enjoyable. I&#39;m glad the anime has caught up to and passed what I had read. Already knowing everything that’s gonna happen zaps a good deal of the enjoyment from it.

Obviously there’s nothing wrong with the manga as its story line is what formulates the anime, but I prefer it as an anime. Just a matter of opinion

i agree with Legendary Nin... i read the manga and watch the anime but it doesnt ruin it at all for me... i admit, that sometimes i may know what&#39;s going to happen but its still exciting and i still love to watch it... its kinda like watchin the series again... have you ever watched a series(or movie) twice? you know what&#39;s gonna happen but you still wanna watch it cuz its really good

What are you talking about? Many people here read the manga, me included. But I only read as far as the anime goes, so that the anime doesn&#39;t lose its excitement. Also there are a lot people who have read the whole manga.

The manga also moves alot faster... you could (re)read a whole arc in an hour to get a naruto fix but it would take a whole day to watch that many episdoes.

I highly recommend people read the whole manga and watch the anime. The anime has a different style / pace compared to the manga and I defiently perfer the manga. In addition once you read up to the end you start forgetting details about what happend so long ago...

If you decide to read the manga do it to the end. The next couple eps of the anime you watch would seem &quot;spoiled&quot; but after that it gets all good once things start appearing differently... you also are less inclinded to get annoyed about &quot;filler&quot; eps once you&#39;ve read the manga IMO.

I started reading the manga during the prelims of the chuunin exam (it was just to slow) best thing I&#39;ve done.

I think that pretty much sums it up.

As for my own opinion. I started reading the manga right after I started watching Naruto. It was around the release of episode 3 or 4. I don&#39;t think you lose any enjoyment from the anime by knowing what is to come, in fact you start to look forward to certain events and when you see them animated it seems even better. That&#39;s just my &#036;0.02.

I&#39;ll be honest,in order to see the full Naruto story you must read the manga and watch the anime. You can&#39;t just watch the anime, because it shows a lot less and doesn&#39;t explain as much. But then yet you can&#39;t just read the manga because sometimes the anime has a slight story change, like how the anime is showing how the sand and sound are setting up.If you don&#39;t do both, then you&#39;ll never see the real Naruto.
In order to also be a true Naruto fan,you must also read the manga and watch the anime TOO&#33;&#33;&#33;&#33; http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/biggrin.gif .Its like claiming to be a hardcore LOTR fan but never read the books.Or read the books, but never watched the movies. You need both to reach the otaku equiliberium.

the anime does seem to tone down alot more blood scenes

example: zaku for shino, in the manga, after zaku screws himself over, shino grabs both arms and literally rips them off

but on the other hand, the anime does add scenes, ie. the story of zaku when he was alittle boy never occured in the manga

but ya, a really good reason to read the manga is such examples as:
episodes 29,45,54,65

I know this isn&#39;t my call, but a lot of people have mis-conceptions about the manga.I used to watch the anime, then 6 months ago I picked up the manga, best thing I ever done.I don&#39;t find it ruins anything at all,and that seems to be a poular mis-conception.How do you know it will ruin the anime when you haven&#39;t read the manga? You don&#39;t.

Look at this poll in the Open Discussion.75% of people prefer both,10% manga, and 14% prefer the anime.I think that poll says something right there.

http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=6686 ('http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=6686')

To me it doesn&#39;t ruin it at all,but I&#39;m just someone who has watched every anime episode and read every manga chapter,so you might not want to take my opinon because it isn&#39;t bias.

You are so right beacause the manga is more serious than the anime. I thougt that i couldnt wait to next week after i saw anime eps 60 so i read the manga just to see what will happen next week. Guess what.... the manga was wonderful that i couldn&#39;t stop reading it so i began from chapter 1 and read to chapter 200 in ten days and it was the best thing i have ever done:D Plus i look forward more to the anime now cause i know what will happen;)

Anime has a smoother visual description, has music and the voices that add life to the characters too.

i recomend reading the manga too though, but if you really dont like getting spoiled that&#39;s allright, noone&#39;s gonna force you... i still recomend reading the manga up to where the anime is now though.. just skim through it if you can&#39;t be bothered to read it
it&#39;s really fun to look at the cool drawings and you pick up stuff you wouldn&#39;t normally do

Some people dont like to read, some dont want to spoil the fun so to speak, but I think there are just as many manga readers that enjoy the anime too.. Like watching lord of the rings tho not exactly like the books it is still nice to see it visually. I dont want to spoil the upcomming hence I dont read the manga except for &quot;translation&quot; when the urge to download the raw takes over.

i think ur rite.....but i think at this time (well since the last few months) there was the whole surprise factor to consider.....like, who was gonna face who in the prelims, then who would do what in the 3rd exam, and now whats gonna happen with the war.......so cuz of that i think alot of ppl dont want wanna read the manga.

ofcourse, its not so bad if (for example) u watched/read the zabuza fight or the 1st/2nd exams in the manga........but i dont think ppl like having to switch over from the anime to the manga every few weeks.

and if u read the whole thing, that element of surprise is gone.....some folks perfer to b surprised in the manga, some in the anime.

i read the manga near the end of the prelims.....from the neji/hinata fight till where jirays shows up.....during the anime i didn&#39;t find the neji/hinata fight to b all that intresting, but the lee/gaara fight was still bad ass......so ya, manga doesnt ruin everyhting, but thats only cuz the manga readers have read all the really kool stuff that were all gonna watch like 15 time over

the thing is, its not so bad if u read it and then c it like 4 months later (cuz thats whats gonna happen) but during the really kool parts u cant read it cuz if u do, and then u c it again like next week, its not as much fun or surprising

I prefer anime for a variety of reasons...
1. It&#39;s animated =)
2. I love how the japanese language sounds (spanish as well)
3. I don&#39;t really like comic books... well, for the most part.. I actually enjoyed the first/original DBZ manga books.. they were in japanese/chinese. I prefer to read actual books than to look at pictures with script... my imagination always turns things out better
4. Reading small text for a long period of time on the computer hurts my eyes...
5. Clicking the next button every 5 seconds can be annoying... with the anime, I can just turn it on, and recline in my lazy boy chair

I&#39;ve only read up to chapter 2, haha.. though I have the whole manga/anime series on my HD.. well, up to the latest release

Personally I&#39;ve come to love and hate the manga. Because it does spoil some of the fun to the anime, but it does give me the chance something to whet my appetite and raise my expectations for the anime. So far I haven&#39;t been let down, mainly b/c I only read the mangas just a few episodes ahead of the anime.

Read the book. A thousand times over.

No, really guys. Reading stimulates your nerones and all.

... ::sigh:: perhaps I&#39;m talking to the wrong group here, but as Legendary Nin said, you can&#39;t be a fan without reading the source, and the source of all _good_ anime is manga. Evangelion is the big exception there. Of course, that brings up how good it actually is to be a fan, but anyway...

Meh, I still like the manga more. As someone else said before, it moves (to some degree) faster than the anime. You don&#39;t have stare-contests at the middle of the fights, and you don&#39;t have stupid scenes like the one with Konohamaru and Naruto being almost trampled by bulls. How stupid was that, really? It doesn&#39;t appear in the manga, and if it wasn&#39;t in the anime, you would&#39;ve gotten Neji vs. Naruto much sooner.
...and I&#39;ll still say the manga is more intense. But, I guess it just comes down to one&#39;s preferences.

And to Anime_Kickboxer, you actually like how spanish sounds...? Cool ^^ I speak both spanish and english and am learning japanese... accents get mixed up all of the time.
