Can you add what format it is now (extension codec maybe?)

A tip-off of my likely awnser would be that changing about codec types will usually result in a quality loss unless you know what you are doing (AonE encoders obviously know what they are doing http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/wink.gif )

If you are talking about vcd to view it on a dvd player. Nero has a function for this. It takes some time but it gets the job done. Don't know of other software as I don't do (s)vcd. Because I am blessed with a monsterous laptop that also happens to have a svideo-out http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/smile.gif

how would you reformat a file? im trying to get something that i downloaded into a file where i can watch it on my divx

You can change your format (Or the codec used for decoding), by use of the AviC program in your xvid folder. Both drop down menu's have to match though before you click apply.

So if you want to run it in DivX, choose both drop down menu's as DivX and click apply.

Oh, and you don't need to worry about Quality loss. This will not result in the loss of Quality, because it is merely changing what codec you decode the file with rather than the format itself.

If you wish to change the file from one codec to the other, you have to re-encode it. For more information seek help on 'encoding'.
