Just wondering, what sort of software is used for applying and timing the subtitles?

rather than explain this, I'll just link to timecop's digisub guide ('http://pepper.idge.net/digisub.html').

It's about the clearest explanation of the whole process, it's informative and precise, and it has a good section on timing, which is what you are asking about.

You might also like apr (from infusion)'s guide to fansubbing ('http://apr.vvv.tf/guide.html'). He goes into less detail than timecop did, but trades off with a bigger-picture view.

Sub Station Alpha download ('http://www.badguy.nl/anime/ssainstall.exe') I know it's not official and stuff. I had a hard time finding a ssa install file. Uuh it's not a virus or anything if it is let me know I will spank my hosting provider http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/wink.gif.

I use Xombi sub for timing karaoke however badly that is done by me (the AonE karaoke master showed me that) I found that medusa could also play ogg files... Medusa does Advanced SubStation files though. Renaming them is enough. As I only use the Gabest Textsub filter and not an automated process to do the timing/code and what not a program I do however use them to do the styles. After that it's notepad all the way http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/wink.gif.

Vobsub has the TextFilter dll and documentations with it.

Good luck on the journey into subbing http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/wink.gif
