Bittorrent through my router

Well I got a router today (took me like 2 hours to get it working http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/blink.gif ).
It's seriously slowing down bittorrent and other p2p applications.
I read a bit and I searched through the forums here but I still don't know what do. (or well I tried some options but it didn't work and I also found out it's slowed down because of the firewall)
It's a belkin router and I don't know shit about routers.
So could anyone tell me what to fill in here:
(this is for the virtual Servers, I understood I needed to change something there.)

First, get hold of your internal IP.

Then, add a new virtual server, describe it as "BitTorrent" (or whatever http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/smile.gif), use the inbound ports of 6881-6889 (or 6999 if you like to use many ports in Burst! ('http://krypt.dyndns.org:81/torrent/')) and using the same numbers in the private ports and filling in your internal IP in the Private IP address. The Type should be set to TCP (I hope).

Uhm yeah, sorry to double post http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/unsure.gif
But it still doesn't work, first I thought it worked but apparantly it does not.
Right now I'm using the SHAD0W's BT client and it indicates a firewall, if everything would be configured right the client wouldn't indicate a firewall or will it still say so?
I filled it in like Sarf said, so does anyone has suggestions to fix my prob?

OK, please post a screenshot of how your current config is set up PLUS what instructions (--minport et cetera) you are using with TheSHAD0W's client.

By the way, are the client using the correct ip? It might be necessary to tell the client to use your external ip (the ip of your firewall) instead of using the default value.

To change the default ip used, run regedit, go to "HKEY_LOCAL_USER\Software\BitTorrent" and edit the key named "ip" (without the "s) and set it to whatever your external ip is. This should be easier that editing the file associations (which is done in the key "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\bittorrent\shell") but don't bother, use ExtEdit ('http://www.volny.cz/hausie/download/extedit.html') or something similar (and no, that proggy is not very good, but hey, it "Works For Me™").

The ports I specified for you are the ones that are the default for both TheSHAD0W's client, the normal BitTorrent client and many others. Not that that should matter unless you do more than nine transfers.

shadows client always shows your behind a firewall if your using DSL as i do. because technically you are behind something, on the ISPs end. Just change the option to force the indicator to show green when behind firewall, dsl + BT = suck.

OK, after seeing some posts about TheSHAD0W's client, I suspect it is an issue with it. If you can download with (reasonably) good speed, you shouldn't have to do anything. However, you might want to consider going to What Is My IP? ('http://www.whatismyip.com/') and editing the registry (download the reg file here ('http://www.fukt.bth.se/~k/various/bittorrent_ip.reg') and change X to whatever What Is My IP? ('http://www.whatismyip.com/') said your IP was, then save the file and "run" it).
