Who is smarter Shikamaru or Sakura?

Without a doubt Shikamaru. It is true tat Sakura gets the right answers at all the tests, but her strength is that she is good at studying, not knowing. There is a great difference i believe, and since Shikamaru has over 200 in IQ, i find it kind of hard that anyone in his age can beat that even if they get the correct answers.

Prior to watching episode 64, this might have been a tough choice since you really didn't know much about Shikamaru, but now I believe he is easily the smarter of the two reguardless of how good Sakura's book smarts are.

I don't believe they ever showed Shikamaru during the first part of the Chuunin exam after they handed out the tests. They were obviously trying to hide the fact that he was this intelligent until just now.

Smart is someone who can think quickly and well in any situation. It seems to be the entire point of episode 64 was to show that Shikamaru IS the smartest Genin. Now, we know that Sakura is smart as well. With the knowledge that she has commited to her memory, she should be the more intelligent of the two. This is because intelligence is based on knowledge and how she uses this knowledge. It does seem that she knows quite a bit more than the other in this respect and that she can apply it well (her chakra usage is supreme). As Kakashi noted, "She's quite complete." (which also means, unless something else happens http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/rolleyes.gif , she's reached her potential).

I&#39;d say Shikamaru is he&#39;s a genius at strategies but he finds regular school work incredibly boring and a waste of time (as most smart kids do) Sakura is great at remembering things and applying them her problem is she is not all that good at thinking as far ahead of Shikamaru she would have easily lost to Temari (that and what would she do she has no unique jutsu at all)

about practically using things the basic jutsu she does know are perfect no waste of chakra at all like Shikamaru her problem is stamina but she also has a lack of jutsu if they both had more stamina they would own lots of other people.

She was able to trick at least two of the sound nin in that one on one fight but she had no jutsu to fight with that was an impossible fight.

I think sakura is more aware about the way things work and whats going on, while shikamaru is more aware of the way a person thinks and reacts and other psychological stuff.

Get my facts straight? I am not entirly sure where your getting your facts from but I have never heard of IQ test being numbered that low so maybe your the one who needs thier facts straight?

And since each IQ tests scoring system varies but the one i took scared it as 130+ genius, 150+ .5% of the world population and i scored a 149 I&#39;ve taken others and my IQ was different but no where have i heard its being scored 5-80 etc.

Beside IQ is just a number, a label as it were, and since labels really mean little and some of the smartest people I know do quite crappy on a test. In the long run its means very little unless you know how to apply your talents and work hard.

Also I don&#39;t really know what Bill Gates&#39; IQ has to do with anything the only reason he has so much money is because he stole all the ideas from others, plus he never went to college either so using him as an example doesn&#39;t make much sense.

Umm well i am new here but an IQ of 80 is Outrageous? not sure where you get that from but an average persons IQ is typically 90+ genius is 130+ i myself rank 149 and only .5% of the worlds population is above 150 and yes there are people out there with 200+ IQs. But anyhow to say an IQ of 80 is outeragous is a bit of a overstatement since those with mental handicaps tend to have IQs around there.

Also IQ is based on general knowledge and various facts, so just because you know a lot about something doesn&#39;t always mean your smarter, so in the long run an IQ doesn&#39;t mean anything if you don&#39;t use it to learn. I&#39;ve known people way smarter then me that always got crappier grades in school.

imo intelligence is in fact the ability to take information, analyze it, and come up with creative ways to utilise it. Afaik the SATs don&#39;t really test your intelligence. That is just a common misconception.

Learning in school while it is important isn&#39;t really a sign of intelligence. Think about it. What we learn in school is based on something that someone previously came up with, a new idea or concept that some person figured out based on information present to them. So while knowledge is important, all the knowledge in the world wouldn&#39;t help you if you couldn&#39;t analyze and utilise it.
Sakura = knowledge retainer. never seen her use it productively.
Shika = thinker, analyzes situations based on information or knowledge available to him.
By that token Shika would be smarter.

Hmm that would be true if I projected myself to be a person with one of the highest IQ&#39;s.... to make the statement I made you don&#39;t have to be a genius gloating or a low IQ&#39;ed person sulking.... just an observation.

For your information though, I did some tests in a Mensa test book. It was meant for adults and I was... I think 15 at the time possibly... can&#39;t remember exactly. Anyway, I went on the BBC website to check the score I got and what it meant... and you know what I found out?

The scale that was used was the one where 148 and plus is the top 2% of the country, 100 is average. Below 70 meant you were a retard. Want to know my score?

And I think that you can&#39;t judge your IQ on one test. You should try to many tests and those test that tell you the areas on which your good.

I said what my IQ result from that test was.... it&#39;s in hidden spoiler colour... you are going to have to highlight the area where there is a big gap in my post to see my score.

Not really. Chakra control has nothing to do with intelligence. Even if Shikamaru&#39;s ability to control chakra is not as good as Sakura... it doesnt mean that he isnt smarter than her.
