i think japan imports more american cartoons than america imports japanese ones though

that's just my impression though but i think it's right http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/wink.gif

also i wouldn't be suprised to see japanese-dubbed american cartoons
cartoon network here dubs most cartoons to norwegian... which annoys me cause the voice actors are just plain crap!~ i guess it's cause they dont bother paying much for it, cause when they dub children's cartoons for the cinema they have good actors! the worst part is dubbed animes though.. like pokemon. i just can't bring myself to see animes where they speak norwegian

and seeing it as there are alot more japanese ppl it wouldn't suprise me if they dub and import them =p but not all of them i guess so there might be a market for subbed and raw american cartoons :b

i think it's more popular with raw and subs of real shows though, not cartoon ones. i can't really think of any nonjap cartoon i'd download.. other than southpark

shows like friends though are distributed pretty quickly across the net once they're released, and i'm sure japan is no exception

er sorry if i didn't make sense or the typing was a bit uncoordinated.. i was watching tv while typing ^^

I think Japan has a great deal of american cartoons, as cartoons and anime are more popular in Japan then it is in the US..

http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/huh.gif What if people from Japan download cartoons from america, because they don't have it like the justice league or X-men. That would be pretty weird. http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/huh.gif

Probably raw as an english speaking (or at least understanding) Japanese person is more common than a Japanese speaking American. I would certainly think that it does happen.

I know The Simpsons is dubbed in japanese in Japan...

D'oh desu!

which just further proves dubbing is wrong. It's just never as good as the original.

(i actually have no idea if they're *required* to learn english in school
however i'm going to base the rest of this argument on the fact that they do, because if they dont then the argument for subbing english shows doesn't need alot of elaboration ;P )

yes they would
just because people are ment to learn english in school doesn't mean the tv will be forcing htem to listen to a language they're uncomfortable with

i realize it can be hard for people who know english from birth to see, but try learning a 2nd language and you'll understand http://www.gotwoot.net/forum/html/emoticons/wink.gif
it takes more than learning something in school to be comfortable with

most countries sub to the country's language, even if the show is in english

not only aren't peoplea s steady in english if they have only learnt it in school and not used it much outside, but alot of people are too young to have learned enough to understand a tvshow where people speak english with all sorts of accents and speeds, and some of the older people might never have learned english

Well, I don't know for certain abbout Japan, but I know that American cartoons are broadcast in other countries.

I have a few friends from Bulgaria. They tell me that when the iron curtain was lifted they had the opportunity to watch American cartoons. According to a Bulgarian girl I know named Illyana Duck Tales and Ninja Turtles became popular quickly. She claims that The main voices are in Bulgarian, but if you listen closely, you can hear the American voices speaking quietly.

Another Bulgarian I know named Bogden relates a similar story about ALF.

Also, we know from Kingdom Hearts that Disney cartoons are popular in Japan.
