"Rentt Faina, a twenty-five-year-old adventurer, has been hacking away at monsters for a decade. However, without much talent for the job, Rentt finds himself stuck hunting Slimes and Goblins for meager amounts of coin every day. Little does he know, all this is about to change when he comes across a seemingly undiscovered path in the Labyrinth of the Moon's Reflection. What awaits him at the end of the path, however, is neither treasure nor riches, but a legendary dragon that wastes no time swallowing him whole! Waking up a short time later, Rentt finds himself not quite dead, but not very alive either— He is nothing more than a pile of bones! Armed with nothing but his trusty sword, tool belt, and ghoulish new looks, Rentt sets off on his quest as a newly reborn Skeleton to achieve Existential Evolution, hoping to one day return to civilization with a more human form. Will Rentt succeed, or will the labyrinth consume him for the rest of his un-death...?

I'm hopeful so far. A pretty standard zero to hero fantasy power up ala Spider or Slime, as in basically grinding. Usually the journey to excellence itself is fun, and the tension drains as the main character reaches the apex... but we're not there yet. Hopefully the author planned out more story past 'hey, I don't suck now!'.

I guess the dragon lifted some kind of curse MC had. Something that was stopping him from leveling.
It's just that he has to start from bare bones, literally.
Let's see if we can enjoy the journey. At least two girls are concerned for different reasons.

What makes you think he might have been cursed? I've seen that plot point before, but usually from other established characters as revenge plot bait, and the only other character with two scenes is the 'mage acquaintance'. Think it could have been her?

This has remarkably the same concept as the much more talked about Solo Leveling.

Loser adventurers finds a secret area of a low level dungeon where he gets murdered by a superboss and then unlocks a form of leveling that other adventurers don't have.

This is better than Solo Leveling so far.

That similar, huh? I haven't seen SL, but this has been okay so far. Enough to keep my interest at least.

That similar, huh?Just the setup is the same. They're completely different otherwise.

The 'power' in power fantasy is slowly but surely creeping in, but at least Rentt isn't without some hardships to keep it interesting like his apparent craving for human flesh. At least he was a gentleman about nibbling on his childhood friend, lol. I presume this newbie duo and the aristocrat from episode 2 will be his new party once this is all over.

What the hell happened to the girl from the first episode?! The OP made it seem like she was going to be a main character.

Nary a peep from her since. Looks like this is a one man show for now.

I like how he gives off that cliche edgelord vibe, but he's doing it completely unintentionally.

He's just trying not to get caught, and people are mistaking him for being some kind of stoic antihero. But he's actually just a nice doofus. :p

If mfauli watched this, he'd blow his brains out watching Rent ignore hot alchemist.

Rentt is not ignoring her. She can just confess and clearly say she wants to be with him, regardless of deceased status, but does not.

He is just being respectful of consent.

For supposedly being a vampire, sunlight don't seem to bother him none.

Looks like one of those "vampires are just weaker in sunlight" versions.

I'm currently watching this and I actually like it.

I couldn't find this show on Anichart for some reason (Winter 2024)

This is suprisingly better than I imagined, I've read a Manwha with a similar story and thought this is the adaptation.
But it's actually a much better version of it.

Okay, it's not like it's groundbreakingly good or whatever, but it's not annoying to watch and I actually like how he looked as a ghoul. It was pretty awesome that they didn't shy away from showing some more disturbing details.
I'm currently at the point where he turned into a Ghast, but right now I'm thinking I could definitely watch another season or two of this.
I'm almost disappointed about the fact that I only have a few more episodes left, although I'm not sure how exactly they will continue to make this interesting after he turns into a more human-like being. Aside from some bloodsucking dilema or something like that.

Kinda wish he would've stayed a ghoul for much, much longer.
And perhaps it's still comming, but it would've been awesome if his bloodlust were much harder to control and even better if he would lose his "self" over time to the point where he is no longer having a human-mind, but that of a monster (like when he attacked Lorraine.
Like some Alzheimer zombie/ghoul.

Stuff like that is always nice to see in Zombie movies as well - you know, when someone gets bitten and slowly loses control of his self to the point where they can only push others away because they know it's going to be over for them soon.
