Wonder Egg Priority just came out. Don't know anything about it, and usually don't watch this kinds of anime, but so far I've seen plenty of positive reactions to it, so might be worth checking out.

This is truly... striking to watch. The animation is consistently great so far, even looking film-grade at parts. It goes out of its way to be constantly in motion; a contrast to typical 'limited animation' most anime has to make due with. The corners weren't cut; they were tucked neatly out of sight.

The premise is as heady as I could hope. As far as I can tell, main girl has a deal to 'save' an undisclosed amount of people (each cracked egg being a person with a problem). Presumably she will have a wish granted when she reaches this arbitrary goal, which is to save or return to life a friend of hers that was a victim of bullying and is no longer around. I think it is implied she committed suicide, and this girl regrets not helping her during the hard times out of fear. Interesting enough, all of the victims she is trying to save so far have also been tormented by some form of bullying, it seems.

In the dream, wounds heal, but once awoken, then carry over into the real world? Lets see where this goes.

Dropped it mid-episode 1. I just can't bear this confusing, non-sensical style. Same reason why I dropped Monogatari in episode 1. Just not my thing :>

Ep3

I like what they did with the new girl. She really is obnoxious, but has a depth of character, it seems, to make her interactions very interesting. The numerous excellent action cuts didn't hurt, either. The animation has dipped ever so slightly, but is still head and shoulders above most of modern anime.

Ep4

... continues to be pretty striking to look at. This was enough content for two episodes, honestly, in wrapping up one (two) fights, and progressing to the conclusion of the introductions of the main four as well.

Via background conversation, more plot elements were made explicitly clear, in that all of these girls to be saved are, indeed, suicide victims, and they all (main cast) are trying to 'buy back' a precious person via these missions. You don't have to have seen Madoka recently to feel something sinister is in wait...

Adam's apples are a weird fetish, for the record :3

Ep5

I like the chemistry of the girls. Their personalities play off each other well without feeling like archetypical characters- even if they largely are.

At this point, I think we are all waiting for the other shoe to drop on the impossibility of their quest. Aside from their optimism, is there anything suggesting they will actually get their wishes when this is all said and done? Sensei also just got a dark wash of tint this episode, and I'm undecided on if he is a good or bad guy.

I really don't know what angle the teacher is going to wind up, but Aoi going back to school is probably a good change in her life regardless. Did not see the "she likes him also" twist coming.

Why the heck did she want to go to school again?

Does she actually like that creepy teacher? Did you see how he reacted seeing Ai all wet like that? As if nothing was strange about it at all? That guy is very clearly an enemy.

Apparently, she decided moping isn't helping anyone, and feels her new friends will help her through any residual bullying...

Rika's more interesting now, knowing some of her home life. The 'loose mother' trope is criminally underserved in anime, so this was an interesting watch, as was finding out her broken home has led to self destructive acts. I like that the best comfort she can give her mother is that she won't abandon her yet. It was touching and in character.

Not really an ending per say, but it did offer a bit of closure. I'm not sure if the sensei is being portrayed positively or negatively, but maybe it was supposed to be up to interpretation.

I hear there will be one more conclusion episode in June, so there's that...

Oh gosh, I shouldn't have watched it.

It's good - but now I hate life, this show is really sad...
