After 2000 years have passed, the ruthless demon lord has just been reincarnated! But his aptitude at an academy for nurturing candidates for demon lords is, “inept”!?

Having the capability to destroy humans, elementals, and gods, after a long period of countless wars and strife, Arnos the demon lord became sick and tired of all that and longed for a peaceful world, so he decided to reincarnate to the future.

However, what awaited him after his reincarnation is a world too used to peace that his descendants became too weak due to a huge weakening in magical powers.

Now up to episode 11.

Along the lines of Mahouka, watch this for a harem OP MC who shines with confidence. It's mostly about relaxed watching as someone pawns evil dudes in the name of justice.

An anime I'm sure will be forgotten soon enough.

This is actually the only show of the season I've managed to keep watching. Since I only watch one or two shows a season these days, I guess it means there's something about this show, which ought to be totally forgettable. It has an absurdly OP main character, but this is also one of the stories that manages to come up with plots that are about something else than just power levels, so it remains interesting enough for me. Sure, often enough situations are solved by Anos's limitless power, but there were still always something worth seeing in the arc. That being said, if one does not like OP MCs, this obviously is best skipped.

Naturally such a concept can only work as long as there are new things to expose about the world, so you might say the time is limited. Fortunately this ends in 13 eps, so there's no chance of running out of steam before the finish line.

Mother's Basement recommended this and, frankly, he gives it way too much credit. Claiming it's actually a parody of overpowered fan power fantasy series.

But it's really not, it just is that, done so absurdly that it seems like it must be a parody.

Since I only watch one or two shows a season these days, I guess it means there's something about this show,

1. The MC is actually a nice guy.
2. The bad guys are such dickheads that you love watching them get shat on.
3. Sasha.

This is what makes this OP show work. He is mature, extremely intelligent and wise, and simply kind.

The funniest shit this guy does is that he kills some evil dude, then brings them back and says "stop fucking dying and talk to me". We get the satisfaction of seeing evil dudes die - but we don't really kill them. Just.. OP.

lol, ist just started this trash, up to episode 2. "This was just a kiss between friends", and I can already feel my brain cells dying.

Oh well, it's rather fast paced, so for now it's fun.

Episode 12

------------------------

1/3 of the way through I guessed that Kanon must be the fake Demon King, but I didn't figure that it'd also be Lay.

If this ends up being an actual conclusion, it would seem like an anime-original one. I wouldn't have thought that the source material would end in such a manner, and so soon.

Yeah. I certainly didn't foresee an anime original ending. I thought the anime would simply end after a random arc, like a thousands of other anime adaptations. Anime original endings are such a lousy way to do it.

Only if the ending makes sense. If it is utter trash, I'd rather they just leave it open so that viewers can seek the source material.

Episode 13

--------------------------

That was okay as an ending. The whole bait and switch thing feels like it could have come from the source material itself.

One thing I think they show does poorly is their choice of cheer-leading music. Considering their setting, it should be more grand and classic/old-school with gravitas. 2000s pop doesn't fit at all.

Yeah I fast forwarded past the fangirls singing both times.

It was weird how the ending felt so abrupt, yet the director still filled the episode with the cheap auto-tune singing. At least I don't feel like the ending was particularly rushed, regardless of it was anime original or not. It was lacking scale, though. The previous arcs had all the conspiracies, history rewriting, manipulating entire species, but then it was all solved in a simple scuffle lasting an hour or something. It's kind of like if WW2 had started as we know it, but after Germany had started Operation Barbarossa, instead of the gruesome years and millions of deaths we know from history lessons, Germany would have been beaten in a single week with minimal losses on both sides, and it would have been all over. And then the same would have happened with Japan. That's the kind of feeling this ending gave to the overall story of the series.

To be fair, they did set up that there are 4 realms, and this story only involved 2 of them. Even if the novel did go this way, there were still places for it to go.

Anos stopped it before it started by removing the source of the conflict.

The real issue is that Lay spent 2000 years planning to save a war, only to apparently be threatened to have all go down because someone took his mother hostage.

Just watched this and only came here to say that I loved the singing portions... but I see you guys hated it LOL.

Well, I only really liked the first one (in the sword duel, which was only singing with no melody behind it) and the one in the last episode to a lesser extent.

Thought it was going to be more violent than how it ended up being, which was how it was portrayed in the first episode. Oh well, it kept me entertained for a couple of days.

All the characters felt like strangers to me...

I felt quite similar.

All I remember is:
1) Demon Lord divided the world 2k years ago.
2) Demon lord reincarnated.
3) Someone changed history.
4) The sisters are now friendly and twintails has strong eyes
5) Lay is the reincarnation of the ?Hero and his someone held his mother hostage and made him do bad things. Now resolved.
6) Demons went on an excursion to the human/Hero fraction and were bullied. The human teacher had an agenda against demons, and the #1 there along with some clones were used due to some contraption thingo about hero souls and shit that I don't remember.

And now, we have Gods and Fairies. Looks like the Fairy queen was a bit of a pushover, the God is arrogant but not very powerful against Anos, and some senior demons are against Anos.

For me, an old intellectual property / anime was easier to watch an motivating myself to watch something new. I enjoyed this at an average level.
