Tower of God centers around a boy called Twenty-Fifth Bam, who has spent most of his life trapped beneath a vast and mysterious Tower, with only his close friend, Rachel, to keep him company. When Rachel enters the Tower, Bam manages to open the door into it as well, and faces challenges at each floor of this tower as he tries to find his closest companion.

Seriously though, the BGM is sick overall so far.
The rest - who knows - I don't... yet. It wasn't boring at least, even though MC is a bit unlikeable wimsy looking (his VA doesn't help)

I read through a good portion of Season 1 of the webtoon because it is, for some reason, insanely popular. I wasn't able to determine why. But I do hope it does well, because then we might get more CR and Netflix originals of Korean series that Japan is generally unwilling to adapt.

Wouldn't mind Solo leveling to be picked up if that's the case.

Dropped a couple minutes in. I hate the low res-artstyle, it's just distracting in a bad way. i also can't stand these generic 'young characters doing fateful stuff' shows anymore. Not my anime.

Episode 2

same as episode 1.
I kinda like it, it's not boring. Same issue with the MC but there is obviously some kind of power inside him.

I keep getting distracted by the Blade music!

It's awesome though :D

I still like the show, but I have a very hard grasping how serious things are at times because when people say "kill", they actually mean "hurt" and then all of a sudden, "kill" really means "kill" and someone dies.

The music keeps me entertained though (even just the opening and ending).

And.. are "Rankers" people who successfully climbed the tower and got their "wish" granted?
And why do I read "Bam" when they always name him something else. (Joru?)

Oh my, how weird.
They normally don't rename "Schnitzel-hausen" to "Tonkatsu-le" (or whatever, I just google translated that) when they decide to use german names again.
I have no idea why they have to use a Japanese name when it should be known that the series is a korean Manhwa.

Just let Bam be Bam.

They don't normally japanize western names in general. Even if they are purely symbolic in nature, such as "Hope" from FFXIII. It's still "Hopu" in the original voice over.

Exactly, they use his name. Which is Hope. Not the japanese word for "hope"... which would be "Kibō" (googled)

In Tower of God, MC's name is Bam, which is korean for "Night", yet in the anime they changed it into "Yoru", which is japanese for night.

It's like... translating the name "Ansgar" (which is old german) into "Spear of Gods"

"Spear of Gods, stupid pervert!"

It is somewhat interesting, and the storytelling is definitely different, but its not so far scratching any itches I have for shounen style series. The action is also more simplistic than I would like.

Surprising that the world still exists if that many people had wishes granted, unless they mentioned a limit to the potency of the wish and I missed it.

I also became actively annoyed at Bam when he goes all naive for Rachel. Overall, wierd, but watchable.

Episode 11:

Wow, that episode was great. Music, visually, sound, story. I liked all of it.
Too bad not all the episodes are like this. Sometimes they are rather confusing even.
This time around however, it felt like a well thought out episode.

I will say, I'm not a huge fan of "Here's a world system governed by 8000 different rules. Which we won't explain any of, so that I can make them up as I'm writing this."

I just figured out why I'm still watching this excitedly. This entire series is elevated by aping and invoking the feel of the hunter exam arc. Its not as tightly written (or I'd argue as well thought out), but it does conjure those old feelings in a pretty good way.

Was that the end of the season?!

Sadly yes, but I really want the second season. Kinda interested in how things go.

edit: hmm, Anichart lists another episode.
I'd honestly let it end here. But another post betrayal episode is probably setting things up more directly.

well, I liked that ending episode very much.
I sure as hell hope that the dude at the end was BAM.

And I really want a second season.

Rachel is an infinitely more interesting character than Bam. She is flawed and has a goal; he is simply a nice guy with no personality, but all of the talent and other shounen accoutrements.

Looking forward to where this goes.

So... where did this go? I mean the anime.

Was it that unpopular? I'd have expected another season tbh.
I loved the music.

The series is nothing extremely special or anything... but they usually do a lot worse, lol.
I'm somewhat disappointed.

Looking at Darth's .gif still makes me giggle btw.

As I understand it, this was a one-off funded by crunchyroll. Korean comics (manwha?) and webcomics (which this is) aren't supported by an animation industry in Korea, for whatever reason.
