* Based on a supernatural historical manga series written and drawn by Tezuka Osamu.

Daigo Kagemitsu, who works for a Samurai general in Japan's Warring States period, promises to offer body parts of his unborn baby to 48 demons in exchange for complete domination of the country. When the baby boy is born, Daigo has him thrown into a river, expecting the boy to die. A kind sage, however, finds him and adopts him. The sage fits out his poor son with prosthetics.

Time goes by and the baby grows into a boy who calls himself Hyakkimaru. Every time Hyakkimaru eliminates a demon, he retrieves one of his body parts. Hyakkimaru rescues a boy thief named Dororo from a band of men whom the young boy tried to rob. Together they travel the countryside in search of the demons who possess Hyakkimaru's parts. Throughout their travels, they face a host of monsters and ghosts.

Dororo (2019), wow what a gem this has been so far for me for the first 6 episodes. Not sure how loyal this has been to the original Tezuka series, but man this has been great so far. Great action and violent as fuck.

Do yourself a favor and watch it, hopefully the rest is as good, if not better than what I've watched so far.

I don't see a thread here, so seems like it has been overlooked, but it's right up there with the top series of the season.

All caught up now. Slowed down a bit for some episodes, but episode 12 picked it up once again. As you said, I'm loving this series as well.

Episode 22

Well, right up until the final minute I thought that our Demon of Hatred could take a chill pill, but seeing those dudes trotting around with his body parts has me thinking otherwise. Go get that shit back.

These shitheads abuse and kill innocents for their own merit. Hyakkimaru is completely justified murdering them as he searches for Dorororo. That grenadier dood should've just told Hyakkimaru where Dororo was.

I wonder what the 3 stooges had to give up to gain the 12th demon's power?

Maybe it's paid on credit. Daigo's land got better before they took his son as payment iirc. He looked much younger then too.

It doesn't quite make sense that the trio would possess Hyakkimaru's body parts since the 12th demon never possessed any body parts in the first place.

The 12th demon seems to be the boss one, so he may have access to all the other body parts obtained by his minions.

Episode 24

That was a little unsatisfying.

Dororo for all his(her) street-wise-ness goes and tells a few randoms that he has a bunch of money. I don't trust them.

Hyakkimaru (after confirming that he's human and won't kill the person he hated the most), goes on a journey to find "something". What more proof does he need that things will be alright? The only thing close to testing his bloodlust now would be losing body parts again, or losing Dororo.

I don't get the journey part, but he eventually found his way back to a grown up Dororo to fuck, so I'm all good.

I guess they needed that time apart so they can end up together without it being creepy big bro/lil' sis incest thing. (author decision)

I like how everyone else except the one that deserves it the most just up and died. And he suffered more for it.

Apparently in the manga he went to kill a total of 48 demons (he didn't get all his body parts by the time he left Dororo), which took a grand total of 50 years.

Dororo not so pretty after 50 years.

Fuck the manga then.

The anime, which only had 12 demons, ending wins.
