The world consists of two parts: the near shore and far shore. The near shore is the place where people reside, while the far shore is the place for deities and ayakashi, which are emotional fragments that can posses humans and cause trouble. So it is a deity's responsibility to remove those ayakashi from the near shore with the help of weapons called Shinki, made from the spirits of dead people.

Yato is a minor deity of war without shrine. Together with his Shinki, Tomone, he runs a Delivery Wish Granting Service, granting wishes for only 5 yen. After his Shinki leaves him on less than agreeable terms, he decides to run simple errands that do not involve ayakashi-related matters. While on a mission to find a lost kitten, he is nearly hit by a bus, but saved by a girl named Iki Hiyori. Hiyori dies for a moment, but then comes back to life. This, however, causes Hiyori's soul to become unstable, leaving her body frequently. So by offering 5 yen, she asks Yato to fix her body... but Yato cannot help without a Shinki, so Hiyori accompanies him on his journey to find one, in the hopes of becoming normal again. But behind Yato's kind-hearted face lies a twisted past...

Just began to watch Noragami and was surprised that there was no discussion thread for it. So far I've watched only a handful of episodes and they've been quite fun, seemed like a series that would've been well liked around here.

There's a sequel to it coming out in October too by the looks of it, Noragami Aragoto (http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=16906).

Here's the first series:

I liked it while it aired. And I admitt I do not even remember how the last episode ended.
Worth watching if you like the setting, but something you'll forget quickly. I guess these are qualities these days.

Just finished the first series, and it was entertaining. I'll say the first half is more fun overall though.

Anyways, a nice series to watch. Some action, decent comedy, likable characters as well. Nice music too.

Nice first episode to reintroduce us to the world, fairly fun. We got quite a bit of Bishamon action, so that's always a plus... sometimes I wish she was the main character in this. In any case, seems like this season might focus a bit more in the Yato vs. Bishamon conflict, which I think is a good thing.

Anyone else plans on watching this series/sequel?

Watched that season opening. Needed time to comeback to that universe. Bishamon Fanservice was a bit forced.
The parts not shown in season one were Yato's past and the reason why that girl is so easy to have her spirit leap out of her body.
I guess we should know more about Yato.

Just finished watching these two episodes, and I have to say this second series started quite well and strong I think. Other than some very minor issues, I've enjoyed these first three episodes thoroughly. It also looked like we'll have some big confrontation in the next episode.

Shoujo and forced drama because of pointless secrets. I really hate this kind of plot movement, but everything else about this show is good enough to keep me watching. I just wish Yato lived up to the hype of being a protagonist from time to time. All he does is act bad ass, not actually be one.

Yep, I agree with all of that... not a big detractor for me at this moment.

At least we've seen twice now recently of Yato going on the offensive by himself and seemingly surprising his opponents, but I agree I wish to see him kicking more ass and taking names.

The basic pattern is like this:

Yato shows up > exchanges blows > brags and complains about being underestimated > goes on the offensive > gets the upper hand > achieves absolutely nothing > reset OR gets screwed over like in this episode.

Fairly decent episode since it had quite a bit of action, and we got the full back story. But the alluded pattern still remains. Damn cliffhanger though.

Dammit, why can't Yato own for once? Now we find out that the only he reason he was able to slaughter Veena's minions was because they became Jabba the Hut. Freakin' cmon. I've been watching this to see the badass protag that has been hinted from the very start, not this worthless piece of shit that gets his sword broken.

Nora, please help him chop the shit out of Veena's regalias. Veena can be kept intact. She hot.

That aside, I think it was quite a bit telling that Nora seemed to be the one in command of him rather than the other way around.

So, is Yato stronger with Nora because of mind control? Or is it just him losing all his human softness?

Probably the latter more than anything.

I wonder where the Sekki x Hiyori x Yato love triangle will lead to. I really hate that blond brat, enough that I actually felt glad when he got broken in two. I just want Yato to go back to being truly bad ass with Nora in his hands.

There's no love triangle.

Yeah, but she only has interest in one of them and if that changes the other one will never have a chance anyways, so it's more like a there's a third wheel that has zero chance.

I don't consider that a love triangle at all.

Yukine doesn't like Hiyori like that. If anything, it is more brotherly-sisterly affection. Hiyori doesn't look at him romantically the way she's starting to look at Yato, and Yato obviously likes Hiyori.

There's no love triangle.

I disagree. I think Yukine DOES like Hiyori like that, only that he as the series went on realized that he had no chance, so it's more of a sister-brother thing as you mention. But I don't discard the notion that Yukine DOES have romantic feelings for her if ever given the chance.

But yeah, no love triangle.

Yukine blushes all the time around Hiyori.

If you think real siblings do that, you watch too much anime.

@Munsu
Love triangles do not require the girl to have feelings for both competing parties. Even two parties competing for someone's affection, in this case Hiyori's, is counted as a love triangle.

However, if you think Yukine isn't even competing, then I get your assertion.

Episode 6:

And so ends the Bishamon arc. The massacre was quite brutal, but disappointed on the villain this time, didn't present any real resistance when he got into the picture vs. the big shots. So in all, was ready to move on. An overall good arc despite Yato showing scarce moments of genuine badassness.

Veena is really really cute at times. That's the only thing I got from this arc. And that's enough.

Alright, so just watched the final 7 or so episodes from where I had left off with Noragami Aragoto.

Overall, a fun series to watch... though as with everything, we were left wanting to see Yato in his full badassness, which rarely (if ever) came. Maybe some glimpses, but we never really saw him at his best. Also the relationship between Yato and Hiyori pretty much stayed the same despite the obviousness, so that left us wanting.

I was confused about the last arc, but glad it got clarified in those final scenes... and the after the credit scenes was a cruel way to end the season. Well, cruel if we don't get more anime. But by the same token, was glad they included it since right prior to that reveal I was wondering about 2 thread lines that seemed to be left hanging, but converged right there.

The Heavens though are brutal as fuck and that exploding body was awesome to see, and it quite surprised me.

In all, entertaining though I was hoping for better in this sequel. And the animation is quite solid, pleasant visuals.

Anyways, I hope we get more Noratan in the future.
