The Special is to promote the August 7th Japanese release of Boruto: Naruto the Movie. It talks about after three years of Naruto and Jiraiya's journey, Naruto came back to Konoha to meet his student, Konohamaru. Naruto is teaching Konohamaru a new jutsu during that meeting.

It was another of those half-canon episodes. And apparently, even though it was mostly flashback, a bunch of that flashback was actually from the manga.
