Oookay, lot going on in this episode.
Black Zetsu isn't dead, which is cool, because they built that character up quite a bit and then he went out very anticlimactically.
Inexplicably, Madara and Hashirama were apparently both still evenly matched even though Madara had obtained a bunch of powerups since their last fight. Given that they both ended up paralyzed at the end of their fight(of course, in those circumstances Hashirama would still be the winner, since he had allies that could then seal Madara, which Madara didn't).
I like that Kishimoto didn't simply ignore the fact that Madara only had his eyes because of his reanimation. And that by giving them away before he died, it meant he would come back to life without his eyes. An unexpected bit of continuity awareness on the part of this series for once.
Now, here's the thing I don't get. How does being brought back to life equal some kind of huge powerup for Madara? There's been no evidence that Kabuto's reanimations are any weaker than they were in life. So how did getting brought back to life allow him to break free of Hashirama's super sealing gates? With Obito, it made sense because he had the Ten Tails, so he had the overwhelming power to break free. How did coming back to life let Madara do it?
Also, he's taken Hashirama's Nature Chakra. So, for awhile at least, he'll be in Sage Mode(despite never using it before because...Uchiha Genius!, he should have turned into a stone tree almost immediately).
So he's lost his Rinnegan, but gained Sage Mode. He still has Wood Style, but he doesn't have the Tailed Beasts yet. So of the five things that make up the SotSP's powers, he's got 2 atm, and two more are within reach(possibly more depending on whether the Treasured Tools can be retrieved from inside the Gedo Statue).
The obvious question now is, where is Madara's other Rinnegan. Obviously Obito had it. But does Madara know where he was keeping it? He shouldn't, because he only game back to life a little while ago. Can he sense it?
