You didn't understand my post. I meant Akame is in a severe disadvantage right now. Why not wait for a better opportunity? Esdeath loves diving into danger. It will come. You mean, like, a later date? Or just wait till she attacks some other people?
Cause the rebellion is happening, and if she doesn't take out Esdeath pretty quick, Esdeath is going to go back out and kill everyone.

They should first kill the Emperor and the minister. After that, Esdeath is just a single person. She has to eat and sleep; plenty of opportunities to slay her like a true assassin would, when there's not anymore an Empire to protect her rest.

What he said.
Akame should at least wait for a couple more Teigu users from the rebellion. There's bound to be some.

When I read this I saw Akame disguised as Tatsumi. Esdeath takes the bait and some hot yuri happens.
I don't know why I saw that.

It was an annoyingly realistic ending: Assassins working for the rebellion have no role in the new, shiny goverment that replaces the old tyranny. Maybe the luckiest ones were those who died for the cause, as the rest would either be disposed of or sent away and vilified (like Akame) because the new government must deny any connection to such entities.
I can't say I'd like how this ended. I'm not against sad endings as a principle, Les Miserables, one of the first novels I read, taugh me how wonderful they can be, but it was kind of distasteful here, in my opinion, because it feels like Tatsumi died so meaninglessly and didn't even see how it all ended. As a last insult, whenever some villager from his home travels to the capital, or somebody learned enough from the capital visits the village, they might learn that their hero was in fact a notorious, wanted man. There's a much lower chance for them to ever learn the whole truth. After all, the scene where they received the gold suggested the soldiers told them nothing.

Best scenes were:
-Esdeath's final moments with Tatsumi
-All of Leone's scenes
-Gold-giving, heart-tugging
I have to say the opposite to Kraco, that I can't say I dislike how this ended. Unless you argue that the story shouldn't have derailed in the first place, this conclusion to everything tied ends up sufficiently.

I simply don't want Esdeath and Tatsumi to die.
Therefore, BAD END.
Excluding the after image bullshit, that was one hell of a final battle though.

I haven't read the source so I wouldn't really know how this was supposed to end, although I have yet to see many examples of an anime original ending being better (Usagi Drop is one). Still, that wasn't my point. It just bothers me that this ended so meaninglessly for the main characters. Like I said in my previous post, this ended realistically: Under the kind of circumstances as in this story, few in the rebellion could dare to hope to live to see the victory, instead they would find themselves dead summarily, lying in a pool of their own blood, alone and forgotten, like Leone. But to be honest we aren't watching fiction to see realistic endings. Now the single person of Night Raid who got rewarded was the terrible, incompetent commander. The rest all died or had to disappear, and they will forever be called nasty murderers.

Typical bullshit anime-original ending. Let's just kill off everyone for the sake of killing everyone off.
Let's have a highly trained assassin killed off by a fat old man with a pistol even though she was in arms reach of him(also, gotta love those flintlock pistols that somehow have an entire magazine of bullets...somewhere).
The fight was awesome though. There was a lot of Lee Vs. Gaara in it. Only with ice instead of sand.
They should first kill the Emperor and the minister. After that, Esdeath is just a single person. She has to eat and sleep; plenty of opportunities to slay her like a true assassin wouldThat's dumb. Esdeath would have destroyed the ENTIRE Rebel army before the day was even done. They'd have lost before she needed to eat or sleep.

Only if the rebel army had continued to be stupid enough to charge heedlessly like a headless chicken.

Kinda odd that a "guy" in Incursio's Body Armor was shown alongside Bulat and Tatsumi and the rest of Night Raid right before the credits.
Leone's death made me *really* sad, probably the one which had the biggest impact on me... but the reason why and how it came to be was arbitrary
I can't say I dislike this ending... it's a really good one by itself, I like them a bit sad and dark. It's just that the way towards it was rushed and all.... and it's not really hard to pinpoint the moment when it started to happen :D
Poor Akame, even Batman got lucky compared to her.
She lost *everyone* and has no where to go. One might think she took her own life after that, just to be reunited with everyone... and no one could blame her for doing so.
Thinking about it brings a tear into my eye. Fuk.....

Now that this is over, I highly recommend that you all read the manga from the point that Bols died. That's where the real developments start. Tatsumi's capture is still cannon but played out way differently.

Seconded. The manga pacing is much better, and not a random kill fest that the anime became.

So, the manga is still going right? At least, I assume it must be, otherwise why diverge the anime from it in the first place.

I must chime in that, aside from the omissions and additions from the source material and the last few episodes being overall weak, this ending was handled well. Closure for all of the characters (even the young emperor) and an end state that should satisfy those with no desire to read the manga are all I could really ask for and they was delivered.

Closure for all of the charactersHack anime writing in a nutshell. "When can't write good, substitute death for actual closure. Create closure for everyone by killing every characters!"

It works though, particularly in a show where character deaths aren't one-in-a-million.
