Too often this happens, you see a thread about something you're watching is updated and you open it not to find a download link but spoilers to that episode instead. It's easy to forget a new episode is out, i don't see why people can't just follow this simple format every time they intend to update the thread with new information:

Torrent

---

Discussion of new episode

Lets not encourage sloppy and lazy behavior, make this an official forum rule please.

Wait.. I'm confused. I thought you were one of the worst offenders in this regard, at least the semi-recent past. Correct me if I confused you with someone else though.

He must have changed his ways.

Or this is a joke thread.

This is the worst idea.

Or, you could acknowledge that a new episode was released before discussing it. Hell if Im going to post a link, I don't torrent anyway.

Not sure about the newer series these days, but there are some threads where you're not allowed to post torrents (e.g., Hunter X Hunter).

I just might add such a rule one of these days. Not to enforce a torrent link (I very rarely torrent new eps anyway) and like enkoujin said, due to DMCA it's forbidden to post the link in HxH, but to state that the first person discussing a new episode must first declare it in the beginning of their post (in any clear way, just an episode number would suffice).

Otherwise this is certainly an annoying problem. Some people watch eps via streaming or other means and start to discuss eps before HS is out (which usually is the first DL option). If such a person doesn't in any way announce they are speaking about the fresh episode in the beginning of the post but instead first type in a spoiler, there are high chances for unsuspecting viewers to acquire unwanted info. That has certainly happened to me.

I'm not surprised Y considers this the worst idea considering that over the years I've been spoiled by his irc comments time after time. The man lives for spoilers.

Suggestions can be ignored, rules can't. If it's so obvious why not just make it official?

It doesn't really matter where the new episode note is. As long as it's somewhere in the beginning of the post.

I meant obvious in the "when it's in the post, it's obvious" sense, not in the "this is an obvious thing you should be doing" sense. I'm not in the business of regulating your discussions, I'm in the business of keeping the stupid crappy server running and the stupid crappy software patched so you can keep having them here.
