From creator Ray McKinnon (the Reverend on Deadwood) and the producers of Breaking Bad, Rectify airs on the Sundance channel (and I think a couple of episodes were aired on AMC to help launch it off).

Watched all 6 episodes that are out last night and really enjoyed it. It's slow, but I found it very compelling and interesting and I think you guys should give it a try... and there's certainly a bit of a Breaking Bad quality to it, though certainly not up to that level.

Any of you heard of it or have watched it? The first season is only 6 episodes long, which aired during Spring 2013, and it's been renewed for a second season.

In any case, very much worth the shot and I think the second season has the makings of getting this series to a new level, but we'll see.

On that note, it looks like the Sundance channel is making a push to bolster their drama programming, they had acquired the French drama The Returned (which they air in French, and looks good) and they also have syndication rights for Breaking Bad. In addition to Rectify, they are looking to incorporate another original drama with The Red Road next year with Jason Momoa and Tom Sizemore among others.

After spending 19 years on Death Row for the rape and murder of his teenage girlfriend, Daniel Holden is going home. His conviction has been vacated due to new DNA evidence, thrusting him back into a world he no longer knows. Having spent his adult life waiting to die, Daniel must now learn how to live again. But, his reentry into the outside world may be as unforgiving as prison. He is haunted by the past, dogged by the present, and uncertain of the future. As he struggles to adapt to his new life, his return will reignite the fears of a small town and threaten to shatter his family's fragile peace. Daniel's alleged crime divided a community. His freedom could tear it in half.

Wow, you really name dropped the shit out of Breaking Bad even though production and networking has nothing to do with the story.

Looks interesting though! I'll check it out.

LOL, I noticed after I had it all written up... so fuck it. Let me know how you find it when you do, but it's quite slow so keep that in mind, but it hit the right spot for me last night.

The premise sounds like a more dramatic version of Life (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_(NBC_TV_series)), which I rather enjoyed. I guess that was supposed to be a drama, but it always felt more like a comedy with some serious episodes mixed in at climatic moments.

Any similar themes?

I loved Life, but from the top of my head I don't recall any significant overlapping theme.
