This is a really good watch. Animation is fluid and the basketball is fun. The first thing it reminded me of is Knight in the Area with the whole disappearing thing. The only thing lacking is a little fanservice for the heterosexual male, but in a way this balances out the offerings from other anime. Kise has to be my favourite character here, though all the characters who aren't current antagonists are likeable in their own ways.

Isn't this the series that's banned from everywhere because of bombing, stabbing, poisoning, and every other manner of threats? If I recall my Sankaku correctly.
That's all I know about it and it will likely remain so. I watch very few sports shows.

What does Sankaku have to say about it? I just caught up to the latest ep, and S2 seems to have upped the fanservice just a tiny bit. I don't dislike it. Overall it seems faster as well. We've had like 3 matches in the past 4 eps already. I was worried at first when the 3rd Miracle was introduced as the Ace, but that only meant he was the top scorer (misleadingly enough). Now with the addition of foreign students and Uncrowned Kings, we've got plenty of personalities to play with.
edit: just read the sankaku article about someone threatening with chemical warfare. meh.

Probably one of the best sports anime besides Yowamushi Pedal this season. If you love playing basketball, you will love this. The high quality animation of the movements made me feel like grabbing a ball and doing it myself! I do not like the new "drive" from Kuroko. It somehow feels like an invincible move.
Have you guys watched Yowamushi Pedal? It's awesome :)

I read the manga for this and it just keeps getting more and more absurd and unbelievable.
The best sports anime are the ones who know how to keep it reasonably realistic.

--------------------------
When I made the OP post and looked at various sites, ANN had "magic" as a tag. I didn't put it in, but now I see that it may be apt.
As for Kuroko's drive, he seems to be applying misdirection to the ball while he moves around the defendant in the opposite direction. It's like the phi-trick from Knight in the Area, if anyone's seen that.

Who do I have to hold responsible for me missing this anime? Up to episode 10 and itīs really nice. Not really something Iīd recommend because itīs too bland for that, but itīs just one fun sports anime.
But something I didnīt get: Seirin just won against Seiho, who are one of the kings. Didnīt they say previously that each "king" has one former generation of miracles-member? Which one was that?

Agreed. Though "reasonably realistic" is hard to define. For example, I always thought the Tsubasa Ozora-anime (no idea what its called in english or japanese) was realistic with just te right amount of special shots.
I also thought that Prince of Tennis was okay, until Echizen became a Dragonball-fighter towards the end of the series. Or maybe put better, PoT wasnt realistic, but managed to present it in an engaging way. For most parts.

Ryllharu.
He was against my weekly-episode-link-only posts (where I post a link once I knew something is out, then edit with content if I want to say something after watching as long as no one's made a subsequent post). In response to that I've since only posted episode links when I've watched the episode and I have something to say, which means no regular thread bump. This started around October and I'll be doing so until this season finishes.
But something I didnīt get: Seirin just won against Seiho, who are one of the kings. Didnīt they say previously that each "king" has one former generation of miracles-member? Which one was that?
None of them. The 'Kings of Tokyo' were the three teams that always made it into the finals historically. Seirin threw Seiho out this year, and I think all the other top teams have a Miracle member in them. Seiho was the odd one out from memory.
The whole 'magic' thing is still strong, but so is the fun. I'm not sure that I should be learning basketball from this though, since I'm pretty sure Aomine double dribbles sometimes when he turns.
And as far as my limited experience with reading manga goes, sports anime adaptations are almost always better since there's motion. And also music. Music and voice acting brings things to life.

So it was just a string posts solely with a release link? If that's the case, I'm with you Ryllharu. When I did it I always made a point of merging all the posts together and just leaving one post to bump the thread up that week if needed... but in general stopped after it was evident no one cared to discuss it.
In any case, currently downloading the BD version of the first season of this.

Not necessarily. You're thinking of this (where no one else posted):
-Buff release post
-Buff release post
-Buff release post
-Buff release post
-Buff release post
-Buff release post
Whereas Ryll's scenario also includes the following two patterns:
-Buff release post
-Kraco posts content
-Ryll posts content
-Munsu posts content
-Buff release post
-Ryll posts content
-Animus posts content
-Buff release post
and
-Buff release post

-Ryll content post

HS - Episode 43 (http://www.nyaa.se/?page=download&tid=521043)
--------------------------
Good match. I wonder how they'll make the other teams improve on top of Touou, since Aomine's the Miracle's top scorer. Kise could play a similar role, though he didn't quite surpass Aomine last time. The purple team would be interesting since they'll have Teppei vs Candy-mofo while Kagami fights off his friend. I'm struggling to foresee how their fight against Midorima would go though. 3pt shoot-out with Kagami blocking Midorima again? That would rely on Hyuuga outperforming Midorima.
The Miracle Leader's match is an even bigger question. The only Miracle position unfilled is point guard, which also puts in in the strategy department.
I also need new shoes as well, since mine keep slipping on wooden floors.

Fucking finally over. The matches in this anime feel like Dragonball-fights, lol.
Glad to see Seirin win this time. Fuck Aomine.
Iīm also wondering how the author intends to top this clash of ultimate skill and power. Unfortunately, I expect a cheap cop-out like "Kagami cannot use the zone at will, he could only use it because his opponent got him fired up" or something like that.
The violet candy-guy was an aerial-player, right? Guess heīll be in full control over his aerial movements, dodging any block attempts in mid-air and catching the weirdest passes. As for the former miracle-leader, hm, leaders often are in strategic positions, so I assume heīll be the center of a generally great team, where, by some hilarious/weird skill he can control every player on the field, which will give them almost-precognitive powers, always knowing where the ball and the opponents will go. Just my guess, though, I donīt know the manga.

The violet candy-guy was an aerial-player, right? We haven't been shown much. He's just ridiculously tall and it's obvious that he's a Center. He'll just block shit and get rebounds etc, aerial or not.
Leader is definitely Point Guard (passing, dribbling, strategy). I'm interested in why he says that winning is just a side effect (of being good?).
When you say they're like DBZ fights, are you saying that they're dragged out? I'm not sure if you're happy that you've finally caught up, or if you're happy that you've finally managed to finish some dragged-on matches.

I find them dragged out. But I guess thatīs in the nature of basketballīs four-quarter-system. Itīs why I prefer soccer-anime, theyīre easier to swallow with just two halves. Like, when something dramatic happens at the end of the second quarter, Iīm like "ugh, two more quarters, sigh", because itīs a bit of a drama overload. I mean, itīs kinda worthless to worry or be happy about something that happens in the first few quarters, when thereīs so many of them.
Iīm not that much into basketball, it shows, eh? :D

I like playing most sports that use a spherical ball (except cricket and baseball due to the lower contact time), but I can't watch any outside of anime (except for tennis, badminton, table tennis, maybe diving).
Have you played basketball with friends semi-seriously? I find it pretty fun.
In soccer, I get confused about the halves. Are they 40min or 45min halves? Do the clocks just go to 45mins for overtime counting but it's really 40mins?

Never played Basketball outside of a few times at school many years ago. I was/am the fat kid, and basketball was for the cool, confident boys, so I couldnīt really experience it sadlol. But anyway, itīs really this 4 quarter-partition that bothers me. Ending a single quarter on a dramatic note just feels silly when thereīs still so much in front of you. Whereas in soccer, you end one half on a high note and take that feeling into the second half to finish things off.
Soccer halves are 45 minutes at least, with usually at least one minute of overtime. So youīll have halves of 46-48 minutes most of the time.

I didn't like playing basketball in highschool for that same reason as well (the social part of it where '"cool" kids were the only ones allowed to play on the courts) and also because I suffered a concussion from it in early highschool, but I ended up rather liking it when I played with friends properly.
I know a friend who dislikes basketball but said was happy to shoot some hoops or something, so I'm trying to get him in.

Well yeah, but the blonde guy should be even stronger now since he's removed his limiter and is actually learning everything that is available. Red-hair leader is going to beat Midorima. Hopefully we'll get another season to see all this happen.

I have to say, after reading all of the positive comments on this series on this thread, I was really excited to watch this show. After finishing the first episode, I am thoroughly disappointed to say the least. The entire premise just seems bafflingly stupid. The fucking referee does not realize kuroko is in the game? Who did she think is the fifth player on the court when they were picking teams? There's like 8 of them in the gym, how the fuck did "no one see him walk in" especially when he's standing right in front of her. Unless someone tells me he actually stole Frodo's ring of invisibility, the premise of this show is just too retarded for me to continue, although the animation was good.

Hah, yeah. One of the first things you learn in basketball shooting is how important leg movement is. Trying to shoot with your back physically against a wall (to eliminate all leg/torso movement) is ridiculously hard. Midorima shooting from that position gives him extra height, but the ball doesn't get the momentum from the jump, so the shot would have been really.. difficult, let's say.
Anyway, that was cool. At least the intercept was so much more believable since the weakness was obvious. The ankle breaking is so dramatic here, as if the floor's got ice on it.

I don't blame Akashi. Shit happens with that kind of upbringing.
Maybe we won't even get a score for this final match. The whole idea of the "basketball that Kuroko plays" is to not put victory before having fun or teamwork. Converting Akashi back accomplishes this, and not showing the score would further hit that message home.
All that said, I totally expect Seirin to win.

The magic wrecks it a bit, but I have noticed HorribleSubs' releases being consistently around the 600MB mark, which is roughly twice the size if regular releases. This has only happened since S3 though, and I don't recall S2 looking worse so who knows.
A PG giving everyone zone was pretty cool. I thought Akashi should really have lost his Emperor's Eye though once he converted back. That was an ability he got by letting his ruthless self take over - which allows him to use ankle breaking. To become himself again yet keep all the perks seems too good to be true.
