After getting concern-trolled out of the GoT thread by people claiming I'm spoiling them I realize that the same thing can be deployed at any time in the Attack on Titan thread as well. Please delete this thread since, as a manga reader, I am pretty much forbidden from posting in my own thread in the anime forum. Accusations like "you're spoiling me!" cannot be rebutted in any way and can be deployed against someone you know is a manga/book reader at any time. I can't say "no, I'm not", because then they can just say that confirming that something DOESN'T happen, something they read into my post as a spoiler, is now a spoiler itself.

It's not just other people's fault. I should never have posted the thread because people will just read into your posts looking for spoilers. Posts from manga or book readers are just toxic to a spoiler-free discussion environment.

So delete my thread since it's not safe for me to post in. Someone else can repost a thread about it, preferably an anime-only watcher. I don't want people to report completely innocuous posts and claim they are spoilers so that I get frivolous warnings about them, and deleting the OP and my own posts might get me a warning as well for threadshitting.

You think you are the only Gotwoot member reading manga? We don't have that many active members, so I can't say there are plenty, but there's a bunch of them, myself included. That hasn't stopped me from posting, though I need to think twice what to post and especially leave plenty of "predictions" out. I suppose people aren't so quick to accuse an admin of anything, but regardless if you know you aren't spoiling, then just ignore meaningless chatter.

And no, I'm not going to delete a good thread. Deleting threads witlessly stopped when krb left.

It's not "meaningless". I can get reported for basically any post I make in either thread, and there's no way to defend myself from such a charge at all. I don't make fake fucking "predictions" like people did in the Naruto forum for years. It's strictly people reading things into my posts that aren't there and then indicting me for it.

"Indicting" you, wtf. If they choose to report you, a mod will ignore their report or message you to address any potential spoilers. I had this happen to me just last week. It's nothing to get so wound up about, or flame poor Sapphire like that.

A varying but significant percentage of the reported posts results in no action because the slight observed by the person submitting the report was considered negligible by the staff.

I do occasionally make predictions despite having read the manga. They are what I remember thinking or hoping back when I was reading that point of the story. And usually more or less wrong... I omit any such "predictions" if they are correct unless they are so obvious that only a monkey wouldn't see them coming.

But then again, I clearly don't take Internet nearly as seriously as you do.

How do you get from "my posts will be reported as spoilers" to "delete my thread"?

That's what I want to know.

See, this is actually posting spoilers, because since you omit things that actually happen you are revealing what doesn't in your "predictions". This is terrible, equally as terrible as people who post "After this chapter I'm pretty sure that <"speculation" that is very obviously just a bunch of manga spoilers you couldn't possibly predict>".

I guess as long as people don't know that's your posting gimmick they can't discern a pattern but really? Inventing fake "theories" and pretending like you don't know what's going to happen is absurd. What kind of enjoyment do you get out of posting that.

If I had posted fake "theories" about what was going to happen in GoT based on what I was thinking reading the books at the time my posts would be, rightfully, deleted in a heartbeat.

What kind enjoyment do I get from posting anything at all here? It's just discussion, where you post something and hope people will react positively. You do have a point in the sense that I don't post "theories/predictions" about any really significant things that could kill the joy for someone else. It's naturally a pity to withhold like that, understandably. But with as few posters as we have in General Anime, it seems to me that if manga/novel/VN readers stopped posting entirely, we might as well abandon the forum.

Not to mention there's still a load of things you can post about the current episode/ongoing plot revealed so far/introduced characters, etc, so being a manga reader isn't any death sentence. You are overdramatising it.

I've read the source material of a lot of manga/LN/VN based anime that have come out in the last few years, so I tend to refrain from posting my feelings about certain "inconsistencies" or events that will be elaborated later on. Predictions are out of the question. I only post about vague impressions, or stuff I like about the adaptation.

Unfortunately, this is also the reason for my greatly decreased post length and rate.

And there's always the manga forum where you can discuss all this crap without reservation...

You should really just ignore everyone else's complaint's and not give a fuck about being reported. Has a mod ever given you shit for someone else's silly complaint?

I do occasionally make predictions despite having read the manga. They are what I remember thinking or hoping back when I was reading that point of the story. This seems like a pretty reasonable way for a manga reader to handle it.

If you were wrong back then, before you knew the answer, you can be wrong again in the anime thread. If you predicted correctly back in the day, then you're prediction still stands.

Hell, sometimes, when a show is having an "oh shit" moment, I'll go look up what manga chapter it happened in, then go check out the thread for that chapter just to see how everyone reacted back then.
