So I'm looking up Jojo torrent and click on the most popular one, read the description to make sure it's not the video game or something and I'm going "Wait, this sounds like the first manga arc. I thought the OVA was the 3rd arc. When did this come out...? THREE DAYS AGO? WTF?!"

Good to see Jojo's seems moderately intelligent (though perhaps he's just wary of Dio after that incident 7 years ago). At the very least he's learned that if he wants to be good natured, he has to take hits.. and built himself up into a frigg'n tank.

Their respective academic developments suit them nicely. Jojo's all about truth-seeking, while Dio's about persuading people.

They've been 100% faithful, no filler and nothing has been skipped so far.

The thing with the manga is that the quality of the scans varies between great and eye cancer. Watch the TV series instead, but keep in mind there's some censoring.

Training often does that to you, I think. If you know he's physically capable of defeating Wham, then the tension's not quite there. Then there's the whole "chariot" thing which turns the fight into an event rather than a "no rules" fight.

I still don't really have an idea of how he'll combat Wham's Sandstorm technique, but I'm not expecting Jojo to die. Lisa Lisa on the other hand, could really go either way.

Well it took so long to finish Cars that there was no doubt he'd survive. But the UV-cannon had be laughing out loud on sight, so talkative Germans have their merits after all.

I thought the "only other way" to defeat an Ultimate Being was to become an ultimate one yourself as well. The legends said that the stone was the key to defeating Pillar Men, so it makes sense for it to play a role that way. As things look right now though, perhaps Jojo needs to hit Cars by bursting a ripple through it.

Not only is this a great final battle, having Jojo fight as a pilot, akin to his dead father. But Stroheim playing a deciding role in this final fight, too awesome. Man, I just love it when an author has the guts to give positive attributes to an otherwise bad person.

A little OT, but does anybody know other anime with such themes? I mean, where a fascist/racist/homophobe/sexist/rapist guy is one of the good guys? Always thought that hero characters in all of fiction, not just anime, are way too black/white, and nobody dares presenting a main character that has some dark touches (though murder doesn´t count. there´s way too many anti-heroes who murdered. that´s kind of lame already).

I chuckle at how Jojo (the anime) uses physics only when convenient in its flamboyant over-the-top-ness. Air cooling due to decompression killed Cars, but flying hand (that can grip throats), debris with space-launching energy and cushioning rocks? Who needs nerve-repair/space rockets/suspensions?

Edit: just rewatched the ep to seal in the goodness. Super-ripple eruption and throat-piercing hand were physically sound. On the other hand, Cars could have been smart enough to eject body parts at high velocity to try to throw his body back towards earth.

Good first episode.

However, two complaints:
1.) This is easily the least interesting Jojo and Jojo-era visually. Don´t like the look of the new Jojo and his clothing. That guy from the preview also looked silly.
2.) I hate the idea of those stand. Hopefully, that changes when we get to see a real fight, but as of now Im under the impression that the stands do all the fighting while their user stand still in whatever cool pose. Reminds me of Inazuma Eleven Go Galaxy, and that sucked.

But man, do I like Dio. A villain that actually gets stuff done (and be it only killing some girl) and that´s not an incompetent fool. I wonder if Dio will be defeated for good during this arc or if he finds a way to survive again. Also, I fear for Joseph´s life. He´s the perfect candidate for a dramatic death :(

Well, he´s basically a vampire, right? Vampires gain strenght just by time alone, the older a vampire, the more powerful he is. Maybe that logic will be applied here. Also two more benefitting factors: 1.) As a vampire, he can just keep accumulating life power by sucking it out of people, and 2.) he has Jonathan´s body, which might act as some sort of fusion, multiplying his previous powers.

Lots of possibilities, so Im not scared that he might be some weakass idiot.

It's pronounced "Kujo Jotaro" in Japanese. He's a Japanese native, not an Englishman or American.

I think stands are more like Susanoo than the toads, snakes, slugs. "Chakra" brought to life, and given intelligence. And yeah, Susanoo makes pretty much every jutsu obsolete.

That said, I get where you're coming from. And the anime hasn't given many clues about how stands work. But I think that the anime has to take a different direction, since it covered fighting the ultimate life forms/ripple users already. Also, I doubt Jonathan's body will be weak to the ripple. There's nowhere to go but sideways.

He already is, or was, an able fighter. There's nothing wrong with him taking a supportive job since it's not his adventure anymore.

The ripple is now from a bygone era, in more ways than one. The third arc is where Araki moves away from Fit of the North Star to be making his own thing, this is why it's the favorite to many people as the time Jojo truly began ( some assholes even refuse to read the first 2 parts ).

He IS old, it's the same Joseph but not the same character from the prequel.

I get what they were trying to to with the opening theme, to give it that 80's theme giving Jotaro's look and the setting but it just doesn't feel as fresh as the other two. Still great of course but not quite up to par. Oh and it was pretty decent of them not to spoil Dio's stand in it.

Sad to see we're still getting censored material but given the brutality of some of the scenes i guess that's to be expected, in fact we should be grateful for the fact they didn't just skip or replace the gore.

I'm not minding the stands so much. I like that the user takes damage if his stand gets "hurt". It's better than Gaara, as far as the plot goes. If Gaara's sand arm gets cut in half, Gaara just makes a new one. If Jojo's stand's arm gets cut in off, Jojo loses an arm. I can live with that. Especially since it means users can attack two targets (and so have to defend two targets).

So...Dio has the same Stand that Joseph does? I suppose that could make sense if Dio's stand is generated by Jonathan's body. Dio, Joseph and Holly all 3 seem to have vine-related Stands, so maybe it's a genetic thing.

Though that wouldn't explain why Jojo's stand is different. Unless he gets his from his father, who we never met.

Most likely: The Devil, Death (Death was the first to come to my mind, but it's hard to say.. especially now that he's in Jonathan's body)
Could also be: The Moon, The Emperor

If he is only inheriting Jonathan's latent Stand, then it opens up the possibility of: The Sun, Justice, Strength.

Holly's would be Temperance, if it ever got named.

Yeah, but I think it's a little worse than that. Dio's stand is apparently stronger than Joseph's or Holly's, since he can make those brain bud things (presumably, those are plants). It's almost like a combination of what the Joestars can do.

Worse still, Joseph doesn't know what his stand can do, but Dio might know how to control those (unknown to Joseph) aspects of his stand, like how he can control the plant aspect into making buds.

That bug is real and biological. Doctors have supposedly operated on them and they contain Dio's cells, so I think it's more of a vampire ability just like how his head had tentacles and stuff before. I do agree that his power is stronger and perhaps a combination of all the Joestars though. For one, he can take spirit photos without breaking his camera (I'd argue that to mean better control over his ability).

As for the genetic thing, another way to think about it is that all the "vine" Stands are all primarily connected to Dio/Jonathan's link while Jotaro's could be one that manifested from his own powers. Indirectly you could say that he inherited his powers from his father (or at the very least the genetic material), so that's correct too.

Well, I suppose "The ruler of all stands" is a pretty big clue, even if I ended up finding out through other means anyway. Something AoE like Emerald Splash should have put plenty of holes into the aircraft anyway, but whatever. Hot cola is as weird as it sounds. It's not undrinkable, but it's not something I would choose to drink. I don't think it's even that common.

Emerald splash is a projection of life energy onto your opponent so it's possible it doesn't actually affect the physical realm. Even if it does it's silly to try to make full sense of what's basically magic.

I was a little more bothered by the fact they didn't just use a private jet, we have even already seen the company owned one when Speedwagon was the CEO so i don't see why Joseph couldn't arrange for one to come to Hong Kong as well.

Avdol's flames seem to suffer from the same problems as Fire Style in Naruto. You can melt through rock and shit, but people hit by fire attacks just seem to get a little sooty.

When a guy can just lay burning for a couple minutes, and he's completely fine after the flames go away, I can't tell if that means the fire sucks, or if everyone is just extremely resilient.

have to admit it at this point: this season isnt as good as the two we got before. too many main characters, too short fights, situations not dangerous enough. feels almost like a self-parody at times.

its still entertaining, but not the jojo i had before.

Yeah, I'm thinking of ditching it. It would be nice if we had better villains. None of these stand users are anywhere near as cool as Tarkus and Bruford, or even the first couple of Pillar Men. The art is a lot worse, too. I liked how psychedelic it was in the first arc.
