I wasn't planning on watching any anime this season, but the moment I saw a picture of Vegeta in the show, it peaked my curiosity. And for the first episode, I was pretty pleased. The comedy routine between this duo should be very interesting, especially with the way they animated the faces as well as the ranged that both Seiyuu seem to have. I'll be keeping tabs on this for sure.

Yeah, I just picked it up at random while I was downloading all the other shows I missed this week.

Glad I did. It's pretty funny. The first episode was on par with 2x2 Shinobuden or Maid Guy.

Uchiyama Yumi was the second best part of A Channel (as Nagi (http://anidb.net/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=character&charid=25335)), and it's good to see her get to use her full range here very effectively playing Momiji. Of course, Hanazawa Kana is always fun in comedic roles too. Chichiko is a fantastic bitch character.

No, but as soon as I saw your post I knew you were talking about him. I'm just slightly surprised that he's back for another song, but not shocked, because that already happened a year or two ago when I learned he sang this Letter Bee Reverse song:

Haruka Tomatsu didn't quite live up to my expectations for Ranmaru, but she did a fair job. I thought she would have a more feminine voice during the time she was in "girl" mode, but it didn't really bother me either.

If the next episode is what I think it is, it will have one of my favorite moments in this story (so far). Yeah, more forced drama, but I still like it nonetheless. I hope the actresses can pull it off nicely (which they should).

The voice cast is one of the best parts of this show. Between Uchiyama Yumi's (Momiji's VA) range for all the gags and costumes (like the tour guide costume and the bunny girl), Hanazawa Kana's alternating sickly sweet and uber-rage voices, and now Tomatsu Haruka's super gruff voice that I haven't heard in a few years, it makes for a great time.

The guys and Inoue Kikuko as Momiji's boss are icing on the cake.

This episode made me think about domestic violence and how people don't recognise or do something about such violence in fear for their children or of losing their bond with the abuser.

Anyway, loved all the dramatic faces and the foiling of kick.v2

That song in the beginning...

I finally caught up with this show, and not a moment too soon considering it's almost over.

Ichiko sure knows how to antagonize Tsuwabuki's family. Her necklace must be working, though, since Keita got so lucky he managed to see both of the girls naked without needing to do anything.

That song in the beginning...

I'm going to download the OST just for that song (regardless of whether I get a longer version, or just the TV length). It's the fanservice anthem.

I agree about the necklace. She didn't seem particularly "lucky" this episode besides Momo jumping in the way. She even had her clothes stolen.

shinta|hikari

She got to show off her bod without being slutty to the guy she (unconsciously) likes causing him to grow very conscious of her. That is still pretty lucky.

This is why I basically agree with Shinta and why I said Keita didn't suffer from a horrible lack of luck. Ichiko was still lucky enough, but hadn't ruined Keita's chances, possibly due to the necklace.

I thought she would more women's voices during the time she was a "girl" mode, but it does not really bother me. Most of the Mens brown leather business bags (http://www.cwmalls.com/leather-briefcase-bags-fashion-designer-men-s-leather-business-cross-body-bags-cw971027) have particular rooms for laptops and just like cwmalls.com Designer Women Leather Shoulder Bags (http://www.cwmalls.com/women-leather-shoulder-bags-designer-beaded-jewelry-handle-satchel-bags-cw289158) have some smaller compartments for cell phones, MP3 players and some other digital devices.

Damn, I do think I probably would have laughed more had I not read a line on IRC that made me expect it. :(

Oh well. I'm sad to see Momiji go. After 11 episodes of her old self (trying hard but failing and just getting the shit end of stuff), it's nice to see her enjoying life without trying so hard. I'm sure I would have thought differently about such a default cutesy character had this show (or any other) approached it differently.

At 10m11s, Sakura asked Bobby: "You groped me without hesitation, what does that make me?!"

gg has the subbed it as "No comment".. but it sounds awfully like: bitch

The subs definitely flash "no comment" (thought it appeared on screen after his quick remark) right before Ranmaru's "stand aside" <- which funnily enough isn't what she said either.

Buffalobiian
Thu, 09-27-2012, 10:49 PM
The finale didn't have the tear-jerkiness from the last episode, but I suppose one episode of that is quite enough.

Pretty satisfactory ending, even if it wasn't of the emotional roller-coaster sorts. The final scene with Suwano in particular made a fine conclusion as far as the aim of this show goes.

I'm not really sure whether clean-Momiji has the desire to change back/re-obtain her god-powers.. but it does ironically tie in nicely with her comment that being completely altruistic will lead to your own demise.

Teddy's use of "human-like doll" also confused me a little. I get that a God would normally be in a different dimension/plane and would need an avatar of sorts to interface with humans.. but if they lost their powers while in that state.. they're essentially humans, right?

I'm with shinta on this one. There's definitely competition.

Good anime, but not as great as some of the postings above make it out to be.
For a story about human beings and gods, the difference between both becomes to foggy, due to all the super-human moves of all human characters. Yes, itīs a comedy-anime, but thatīs not really a good excuse here due to the setting. Ranmaru randomly jumping up several floors, catching the two girls, then landing while shattering the ground. lol

Bobby never got his reward, as expected.

Thatīs honestly part of what made me like this anime so much. Okay, Bobby didnīt get his reward, lol, buuut unlike most other anime, the teasing in this one is way more straight forward and often goes beyond just teasing. Case in point: Bobby actually touching her boobs, or Tsuwabaki seeing her naked. Kinda refreshing ... on a completely perverted note :>

Read my posting. I know itīs a gag show. But when youīre setting up "humans vs gods", itīs kinda hurting the whole point of the show. Anyway, not like itīs a big criticism, just something I wanted to mention.

darkshadow
Fri, 09-28-2012, 03:54 PM
Ranmaru is a parody, that's the whole point of the show, not gods vs humans; if anything it's just momiji vs ichiko, which essentially boils down to "god of misfortune" vs "god of fortune"; polar opposites.
If you thought this was "god vs humans", then you've missed the fucking point.

Did you seriously not catch any of the lines by either Ichiko or one of the dieties, questioning whether Ranmaru was really human? It only happened about a dozen times.

Not to mention the times that Momiji gets insulted for using disgustingly mundane ways to try and extract Ichiko's fortune, down to even the level of stuff like, "Hey, look a UFO!" ...[attempts to stab with syringe]. Or the gags where the gods (much like Nyaruko) have equally vain and average interests and get distracted by all sorts of stuff (Yamabuki having a thing for goth visual kei bands, playing off her disheveled bride outfit, a fairly common costume for fans of those bands).

Like DS said, it has never been about Gods vs Humans (particularly when a number of them betrayed Momiji for Ichiko). It's only ever been about Momiji versus Ichiko.

...and Momiji doesn't even really care about performing her task, they showed quite blatantly she is willing to undermine herself so she can continue to torment Ichiko in regular ways.

Kraco

...and Momiji doesn't even really care about performing her task, they showed quite blatantly she is willing to undermine herself so she can continue to torment Ichiko in regular ways.

I think she cares about it a great deal, but just not the way her superiors would prefer. Throughout the show she has been teaching Ichiko the value of others and the few times she got a chance to extract fortune out of her, she made sure Ichiko understood how that fortune in turn helped people around her. Like her clean self said, she wanted to do the job, but not by ruining Ichiko. Even though her dirty self's methods are... dirty, in the end they have only benefitted Ichiko in the bigger picture.
