Remember the good old days were jutsu had letter ranks? I remember were some S rank level jutsu were offical named in the show and since then there has been like 3-4 stages above that...

The ranks if you could even give ranks anymore would be something like this... E,D,B,A,S,SS,SSS,SX,SXX,XXX,Z,SZ,SZZ,XZ,XZZ,ZZZ, Broken,Sharingan,Kishimoto,Tite Kubo, and finally Aizen!

So jutsu are officially ranked from E to Aizen in there capability and overpoweredness and plot holes considering some of the strongest jutsu are basically plot hole manifested into abilities.

I think it just seems like they've gone over the top with the Jutsu because they seem to have S rank jutsu popping up all over the place.
This is why, sometimes, it makes a nice change to read a manga/watch an anime, where the main characters are actually limited in how powerful they can become

S is just as high as it goes, kinda like how any tornado with a windspeed above 322km/h is rated at the highest rating (EF5).

ya well darkshadow what if a tornado appeared with windspeed above 1500km/h... then it would probably need a new classification right?

Probably (most certainly) not.

that's not the question.
the question is what if tornados ranging from 322 km\h to 1000 km\h would regularly appear, and you'd have houses which are built to stand winds up to 600 km\h.
wouldn't you need a more detailed warning system?

but that's just how Shonen Manga goes, easy enemy, incredibly strong enemy, now you're the fighting the bests in the world, which are somehow more numerous than who you met before...

Well, technically, a lot of these current "best in the world" ninjas are dead...but I see what you mean.

whine whine complain complain

Seriously? I mean really?

Maybe you're reading the wrong manga cause you are totally expecting WAY too much.

Secondly I've always been of the mind that its better when things don't have definite classifications, so I'm happy that it went the way of the dinosaur. I personally think it takes away from the story when everyone is constantly informing you of how badass they are. Why tell someone about how strong a technique is when the writer can show what it does and let the reader decide>?

To my recollection, the only time anybody really ever mentioned ranks for jutsu before was when someone was trying to teach one to Naruto.

I remember the Rasengan being A rank, and I remember Kakashi telling Naruto that if he successfully combined the Rasengan with his Wind style, he'd have an S Rank technique.

Yea, I am not even sure why anyone would talk about jutsu ranks at this point anyway.

Dude Naruto is my fav manga! I'm just pointing something out because it's funny. While there is some truth that something like the Sharingan is broken and something stopped making sense in the series. It's still good and I'm not complaining. I'm just discussing tying to find interesting things to talk about besides just the events of the most recent chapter which is getting boring because it only happens once a week.

A better discussion would be about various fantasy character battles like Gaara vs Kanon or a well-developed hypothesis or interesting interpretation of the manga. A good example would be anything that tries to explain holes in the storyline like how Kakashi got his Mangekyou Sharingan or why Karen is still obsessed with Sasuke or whether or not Orochimaru is still alive.

Obito awakened his sharingan as Tobi, and therefore Kakashi's sharingan was activated as well. why isn't it as obvious to others as it is to me?

Ranks

Depending on the difficulty or skill necessary to perform a technique, they are ranked differently. There are six different ranks in techniques:

E-rank (http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/E-rank) - Learned by Academy students (http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Academy_student). Are the basic and most fundamental techniques for all ninja.
D-rank (http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/D-rank) - Genin (http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Genin)-level techniques. Can be achieved by all genin, though many ninja only learn their "type" of technique.
C-rank (http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/C-rank) - Chūnin (http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Ch%C5%ABnin)-level techniques. Sometimes learned by genin who have trained extensively.
B-rank (http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/B-rank) - Jōnin (http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/J%C5%8Dnin)-level techniques. Require high levels of chakra to use.
A-rank (http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/A-rank) - Kage (http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Kage) or jōnin-level techniques. Require great control over one's chakra and may be forbidden (http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Kinjutsu).
S-rank (http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/S-rank) - Secret, extreme level techniques. Are typically unique to a single user.

Kekkei Genkai (http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Kekkei_Genkai), unique abilities (http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Hiden) and Tailed Beast Skills (http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Tailed_Beast_Skill) normally do not have a rank.

Tada, now quit trying to make sense of the fucked up and plot-hole filled Narutoverse. Non of this shit makes any sense anymore, quit trying to understand it is pointless.

Obito awakened his sharingan as Tobi, and therefore Kakashi's sharingan was activated as well. why isn't it as obvious to others as it is to me?

ಠ_ಠ except that 'Madara' fights Minato while Kakashi is still relatively young, therefore the masked man was too developed to be Obito even if he had somehow survived being crushed.

My theory is that the masked man is actually going to turn out to be Izuna Uchiha as he was the other uchiha with the Mangekyou
