It is the documentation of an intensely personal conversation between a French-Japanese couple about memory and forgetfulness. It was a major catalyst for the Nouvelle Vague (French New Wave), making highly innovative use of miniature flashbacks to create a uniquely nonlinear storyline.

The title literally translates from French to English as 'Hiroshima, My Love', though the film is almost always referred to by its original French title.

Despite the horrific and shocking imagery, I have to watch this for school. It's a very good film that involves images of the aftermath of Hiroshima. It is also a story about love, heartbreak, conflicting perspectives and memory. Worth a watch.

Added Hiroshima Mon Amour to my Netflix queue. It's from 1959 though... not sure I like classic cinema. I tried watching some other classics like Jeremiah Johnson but the oldness of the movie made it hard to enjoy.

If you're into Asian cinema, check out City of Life and Death:

It's about the rape of Nanking when the Japanese invaded China.

Don't worry, the next ice age will scrape the world clean and then it will start over.
