I didn't think that they could top the third episode. Oh God did they ever.

Honestly, I'm starting to get slightly bored as the episodes go on. I remember watching the first and feeling so amazed, but now I just feel bored unless theres a battle going on. Dont get me wrong, the animation looks amazing, OST sounds great, and again the battles are fun to watch, but everything else is just kinda "meh" to me. Not to mention Riddhes little "confession" left me a tad bit...uncomfortable. Infact, Riddhe is kinda starting to get on my nerves (and I hear hes only going to get worse).
Anyways, overall a good episode despite my feelings. Shame that there wasnt any Char Frontal. Shambaloos main weapon seemed a bit too random, but still a threatening MA. I found Banager kicking the captains ass amusing enough especially since the crew just sat back and watched. Though I can't seriously believe that he would actually take him on in a fight. Some people like to watch grunt fights, me not so much. But, Byalant was pretty kick ass...which is hard for me to say due to one of its former pilots. And of course the cliffhanger ending just makes me wish it was already spring so I can see how that all turns out.

I wonder who's the pilot of the RX-106S Byalant. That guy kicks so much ass!
Another surprise of the episode was Banhager confronting Zimmerman and actually won.
Regarding the story, nothing much has been revealed about the box and this episode felt like a filler. The mecha porn makes up for that though.

Ive seen some pretty wild speculations on that pilot. Some have said its Kou. Others say Yazan. I've even heard Amuros name being thrown around. Either way, he was still pretty awesome.

I hope it's quiet at work tomorrow so I can watch it :D
Edit: It was quiet enough for me to see it. A really good episode!
It might've been because it's been a while since I've seen ep 3 ,but some things were kind of confusing to me. How did Banager end up with the Garencieres? I remember him falling to earth by himself.
Also, the reasons for the fights this ep, did I miss those?
As predicted, Banshee showed it's face right at the end :D Including the OVA only weapons :)

Garencireres entered the atmosphere to retrieve the Unicorn during the credits in Ep3.

I'm always glad to have more Unicorn. This ep did feel a bit draggy at points but ultimately I liked it a lot, even the more talky parts. Banager's Heroic BSoD reboot sequence was initially grating but I really liked Zinnerman's speech to him in the desert, Life sucks, but you get on with it anyway. Rhidde is now my least favorite Federation character, idk what the author was thinking when he wrote him but his confession seemed to come out of the blue and he just seems like a total mess of a human being at this point, but maybe that's the point, that he doesn't know what to do with himself.
The large scale mostly grunt-level fighting was a great addition as well. It was good to see both sides taking heavy losses and a showcase of the life-cycle of a surprise attack by inferior but determined forces against an established base with much deeper reserves. Props to the custom Byalant pilot and heck, even the Zeon sniper guy for having the balls to take a Zaku I into battle in 0096.

Even the Zeon sniper guy for having the balls to take a Zaku I into battle in 0096.
That takes serious balls indeed. Even in 0079 it was an outdated design.
I believe a feddie pilot also commented on it. Something like a living museum or something?

I'm pretty sure that was the intent. The conversation he has with bright reinforces this theory. He think's he knows what's best at all times, and he thinks he knows it not because of some worldly experience, but because of his station in life.

Am I the only one whose not getting subs? I seem to still be getting subs on mkv files, but not this file in the OP, unless I'm retarded.
edit: nvm, got them to work. Had to mess with LAV splitter.

sorry for being offtopic, but has anyone checked the price for the blu-rays on amazon/anywhere.com
I can't believe what I'm reading
60 pounds/€ for a single OVA. who can afford something like that?
thats 1€ for 1 minute
I wanted to buy them, because the animation looked so awesome and now I see *that*

Just wait for the boxset when it's all done. The prices are indeed insane. Just don't support that. Buy it when it's cheaper.

Finally got around to watching this. Quite a nice watch. The early battle suffered a little from the ages old anime problem of one side fighting and the other just standing still, getting destroyed, but towards the middle that fortunately corrected itself.
Banager should just set himself a more concrete goal like living ever after happily with the princess instead of agonizing over every little thing. I suppose it's somewhat realistic he's too inexperienced and limited in his views to see the big picture and thus doesn't realise that trying to save every single life isn't necessarily the quickest way to end a whole war. But on the other hand, if that's the only way he can live with himself, then he can't avoid it to some extent. But it's really hampering his progress. Moreover, it's connected to the fact he's always being thrown around from one faction to another and consequently merely used as a tool - which is exactly what he was complaining about in the desert. So, it's definitely something he should do something about.
Just wait for the boxset when it's all done. The prices are indeed insane. Just don't support that. Buy it when it's cheaper.
Will such a boxset even appear with Bandai retreating from the US market? After all, the Japanese anime business model is to sell only a few copies to a very limited and saturated market for outrageous prices. So, does a cheap boxset serve their purposes at all? One reason problem they had with the Western market was that the Japanese ordered their BDs from the USA instead of buying the insanely priced domestic ones.
