Why can't subbers just release sub files like .srt instead of having to encode their own versions of the files with hardsubs, that way i could just grab the 720p Raw and load the subfile... god i hate waiting! :P

You know that Funimation uses hardsubs for their stream, right? You can't blame HS for that. They'd have to hire some typists like Commie does if they wanted to release the subs.

Ay, but wouldn't it still be easier, not to mention alot faster, if some people who know how just take the funi/HS subbed ep and make a sub file from it... that would remove alot of the time needed for a release since they don't need to encode the ep or even translate it themselves :/

The hardsubbing is done by Funimation. All HS does is rip their stream. The only way to make a sub file from it would be to have someone watch the episode and type out the subs. That is what Commie does for their releases. They have typists for that purpose.

Edit: There's a group called Anime Out (http://www.animeout.com/2011/one-piece-latest-episode-513-720p-80mb-aot-subs) that types out the subs and releases them in mini HD. Maybe you can give them a try.

Back on topic.. why did Blackbeard run from Akainu, shouldn't he be able to take him down now that he has two uber-strong fruit powers, plus he has his entire crew of freaky strong ex-inmates aswell if things get really sticky >_>

Aye, it's true that devilfruit powers does make you powerful (retardedly powerful, depending on the power), but then there's the flipside with people like Raleigh and Gold Roger himself... so far we haven't seen anything about them having any sort of fruit power? Yet they seem to be insanely powerful :o

Guess it isn't that much of surprise that "powerless" people can become super powerful now that i think about it, most of the 'swordsmen' in OP seem to not have fruit powers but are instead just crazy skilled and powerful anyway, so i guess training and willpower can get you pretty far without the need of fruit powers.

Who knows how strong Whitebeard was back when he wasn't dying of old age, or whatever was killing him, and wasn't yet tied to the infusion. But naturally there are certain strenghts logia users have other don't.

I've always thought Blackbeard is a coward in a certain sense. It's only when his greed, wickedness and ambition are overruling that cowardice that he can kick ass. Thus I didn't think it strange at all he would choose to avoid Ikainu. It seems like they only wanted a ship, and fighting somebody like Ikainu just for a ship likely wasn't worth the trouble in his opinion.
