Sad thing is, it'll probably be commercial break next ep before we "find out" that Sabo is still somehow alive.I dunno. There's a general lack of tension in this arc because it's a flashback and you know who is definitely not going to die. Sabo, having not been shown in the present, is not one of those characters.

Luffy's backstory has been noticebly lacking in a tragic death so far. The closest he's had was Shank's arm. Wouldn't surprise me if this was it.

Based on how hard Luffy is taking Ace's demise, it actually makes me think he has never lost anybody important before. Although there's always the chance he's taking it partially so hard exactly because he first lost Sabo and now Ace.

But then again, Luffy is an idiot, which is probably a sufficient explanation all by itself.
