I was confused when i read this episode in the manga and its the same here now....

Blackbeard the man who gave shanks his scars, the man who ultimately led tot he death and disrespect of whitebeard, then man who spat in the eye of the world government. And they just let him walk away? As if it was not in the best interests of all parties present to give him a fucking good whooping and send him to level 6 along with the rest of his crew, and i don't care how strong he and his crew are there is no way he could have took on garp and sengoku, three admirals, the remnants of the whitebeard pirates and the revolutionary army AS well as all the sichibukai, crocodile, the pacafistas, sentomaru..... and shanks crew as well?

Despite all the "enough people have died here today" crap im sure that they could have quickley hammered out a deal for this... i mean even though the navy "won" they come out of this looking like a complete joke. A former sichibukai is revealed to have broken into impel down, a yonkou invaded the marine HQ and stopped the war dead in its tracks, the son of dragon was allowed to escape along with another former sichibukai, the revolutionary army got a worldwide platform to promote themselves and whitebeard was allowed to spout his one piece stuff to a worldwide audience...

That's something I always thought was funny even in the manga. After blackbeard made his worldwide Debut insulted the government, took the lauded title of shibukai then discarded it like a used napkin then proceeds to wreak the remnants of marineford. Despite all this the only one who tries to take him on is Sengoki. While the rest of the marine forces all focus on the white beard pirates even after they've been beaten and disgraced for losing ACE and their captain. Why couldn't akainu, Akoji, or Kizaru take two seconds and focus on the blackbeard pirates who were wrecking up marineford.

As much as that didn't quite make sense I love it that Shanks is so fucking badass that threat of fighting it was enough to get both the marines and the blackbeard pirates to stand down.

Seems like one piece crews come in 2 flavors. There's the massive fleet ala white beard and don krieg or baraque works where larger organization of largely expendable troops are commanded by handful of badasses and a beak badass a the top. Vs. something like Luffy, Shanks, or Blackbeards crew which tend be smaller crews with about a dozen more specialized people as opposed to a large roving mass.

Well, you have to figure that, if Shank's is one of the Emperor's, his little crew has to be of comparable strength to Whitebeard's entire fleet. So the fact is, the Marine's didn't really have any choice but to stand down. They'd already been bloodied fighting Whitebeard, and Shanks crew seemed completely fine.

As for Blackbeard, he didn't seem like he was intimidated at all. It seemed more just like he said, he'd already accomplished all of his goals, and fighting on at that point was pointless anyway.


It is weird though that the Admirals sort of acted like they weren't even aware of Blackbeard the entire time. Either that, or they thought Sengoku could take him.

I thought the way Law acted was good, made him seem crazy, or "off" as yous have said. Brilliant episode, glad Luffy and Shanks didn't meet yet, and the fact Shanks said it was basically too early, seems that there's still a long way to go for luffys growth! :D
