Let me see if I remember how to do this in General Anime...

Based on a 3 volume manga by Togashi Yoshihiro (Hunter X Hunter, Yu Yu Hakusho) from 1995.

In the present day, hundreds of extraterrestrial species walk the Earth. Some are pacifistic, others violent. Some are here for research purposes, others are career criminals. However, humans don't know they are here.

Now, one more alien has arrived on Earth. One of the universe's foremost geniuses with a personality that's bound to attract all sorts of trouble.

Wow, finally an all around great show! :)

No pretentious deep shit, no harem- or moe-stuff, and a clear setup, even though the next episodes have lots of options of which direction to take. The chemistry between the two main characters is fun to watch.

Only minor gripe would be the coincidence that is the scientist´s daughter living next to him, but I guess this isnt complaint worthy since its from the HXH-author, so it´s bound to have certain shounen-typicals.

Cant wait for ep 2.

This surprised quite positively. Nice MiB vibes all around. The character dynamics were jolly good.

I'm just wondering if that baseball guy protagonist isn't some extraterestrial himself. Afterall he's been scrutinized by aliens the very first day he enters the territory. I just hope he's not "The Clive"

That's an entertaining idea. I haven't thought much about it, but those other aliens don't seem to have such a strong reaction to humans.

Now what if Miho was an alien? That would be heart-breaking.

Well for those who know farscape, it would pose no problems if she was nebari or sebacean female.
I mean, aliens that are very close to humans in shape, weight, size etc ;)
Of course, no awful cultural behaviour please, hehehe. Regarding diseases, you'd think the ones coming to earth are not risky. Just wondering if that includes intimate relationships though :)

That part and when Miho "interviewed" the boy in the cafe were the two highlights in this ep for me, haha :D

Only minor grape was that the visitor actually killed someone. Yeah, it wasnt a human being, and it turned out to be not so dead, but...if it was a human guy, what exactly legitimated his killing? Annoying some girl? But that scene was stupid anyway, lol, all these daylight rapists, right? :D

Oh, and I loved the subtle/not so subtle aggressiveness of the old man at the dojo, really great way to show that what they said about the Disckonians is true.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that something is up with Yukitaka. There's the fact that the parrot followed him from Tokyo before he ever interacted with the prince. Those Diskonians also really glared at him in the car, but who knows, maybe they glare at everyone like that. When he kicks the prince in the cafe, Miho thinks, "That kick... is Yukitaka-kun perhaps..." and then they leave it at that. But it's clear that she suspects something about him, and we have no idea how much about aliens she's found out from her father. She seemed very comfortable with the idea that the prince was an alien from the outset, so it's plausible to believe she knows more than she's saying about the aliens living on earth.

Here's my far-fetched theory of the thread - the cat is an ellerian, one of the nemesis aliens of the Diskonians. Or some kind of alien at least. I think I would love this show purely on the basis that a cat features prominently, supercatpowers or no.

I like how over-the-top and ridiculous everything is. The last anime I watched that made me laugh this much was Nodame.

I'm fairly sure she was instead suspecting that Yukitaka had a punk background based on his kick, which she took the opportunity to confirm while Prince told his story. That guy lost brownie points and he doesn't even know it!

I don't think the Diskonians would install a spy camera on their nemesis. (actually, they would, but I doubt the nemesis would have kept it there). After Prince's escort visisted the old Diskonian, the old guy passed by some young ones watching TV and told them to "cut it out". That baseball game on TV was actually the one played at Yukitaka's highschool in real time. That shot of the cat underneath the bench showed a shiny thing (what we can only conclude is a camera) embedded in its forehead.

Oh you're totally right, I forgot about the punk bit.

And I'm not so convinced that the shiny thing is obviously a camera. I'll have to go back and re-watch that part in the ep, because I didn't catch that. Even if it is a spy camera, why do you conclude that it was installed by the Diskonians? The specific territory of the town seems to be under the jurisdiction of the Diskonians, but perhaps there are other aliens looking to infiltrate. I'm not convinced in their ability to recognize other aliens on the Earth because the biologist guy had to use some sort of technological device before he concluded that the "corpse" was Diskonian.

I concluded that it was installed by the Diskonians because they seemed to be looking through it. (or so it seems).

That show is so silly that such a silly answer would explain the disc on the cat's forehead and why they are so tight with their territory.

Well, the arc unfolded silly as I thought. Just that it wasn't that fun or anything worth mentionning. The show is for laugh, I hope they can keep up.

Regarding my dumb thought of last time, should I train my hear a little better, I would not fall into translation traps I set for myself... I immediatly understood at the begining of the ep when listening to the race's name in Japanese and the sounds finally registered in my brain.

Oh well. As a comedy, I guess if they can keep it fresh, there's nothing more I can really ask for. In that last scene, I'm tossing up whether the pair's relationship really has developed over the past 3 months, or if that's simply her "summer outfit".

I thought that too. The only thing holding me back from being 100% certain was that the "bra" matched her pants. What's with that?

@Moogles: I hope they come back as cameo or something in a later arc. I wouldn't what each arc to be completely unrelated, as if they were short stories strung together with just the theme.

LOL, and here I thought I´d stir up talk with some notes about the girl´s surprisingly hot outfit in the last scene...guess I wasn´t the only one that noticed, lol :D But srly, totally hot clothing, haha.

About the episode, I loved it. I lost it when the captain went allout crazy and hunted the prince while shooting his death ray, haha. Although, I hope the show doesnt pull any more of these elaborate prince-jokes. Otherwise, it could tire out soon, when nothing we´re shown is actually "real". Anyway, so far easily best new anime this season <3

This is the way I feel. I've been hoping for an anime I could actually sit down and watch and after reading a few reviews (this was the only anime I was mildly interested in for this season), I decided to give it a true. I was laughing my ass off, which is a bit of a surprise but the character dynamic and the way they build up the humor is just great.

I share the feeling that i wouldn't want these characters completely gone from future arcs, though the OP and ED give the impression that the only constant in this show is going to be the Baka prince.

As for the relationship between the 2, he still knocked before opening the window so i don't think they're that close. I wouldn't throw dating out of the equation but even then it's still in the holding hands stage.

Baka Prince is certainly the most dangerous of all the aliens. Earth didn't garner much respect among the aliens, despite being the only place where they don't wage war openly, to get placed under his supervision.

The teacher was actually hotter in her alien form. Her human disguise was too clinical. It's actually a bit strange how she in her human form gave the impression of a cold lizard but in her real form she was far less unemotional.

Yeah, this episode wasn't that great... but if this is as low as it gets, this show's doing pretty well.

It's still strange to see the teacher tearing up a desk though, considering how she's a teacher through and through now. Maybe she was simply tricked by some alien superglue advertisement.

Yeah, it's a real pity. But since she's no Colour Ranger, maybe Baka-Prince would have never let her too close anyway.

This is one goofy show. The lack of a larger plot and constantly changing main characters don't make it better, though.

i couldn't pick up Miho there, but I'm hoping she'll make an appearance.

This episode was pretty good. Tachibana-sensei got some action at least, even if it's of the invisible assassination kind. I'll admit I was a bit reserved about the mermaid at first, thinking it was another baka-prince troll. The split tail doesn't make her any more feminine.

Finally caught up after my Inazuma Eleven-marathon. I sooo love this show! It really is like another Gintama, but with a more modern setting. And the color rangers rule, lol.

What´s making this show the funniest, though, is the fact that the leader of the prince´ bodyguards looks exactly like an older version of Itachi from Naruto, same hairstyle, same ... lines under the eyes. And it´s just too damn funny if you think of it as him, haha.
